Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), a 'Maharatna' Central Public Sector Enterprise and India's flagship energy major, invites applications for the engagement of apprentices under The Apprentices Act, 1961. This initiative aims to build skills within the nation by engaging apprentices from ONGC's operational areas across 25 work centres. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for various trades/disciplines.

Tentative Number of Seats

A total of 2743 apprentices will be engaged across various work centres in different sectors. The distribution is as follows:

  • Northern Sector: 165 seats
  • Mumbai Sector: 569 seats
  • Western Sector: 856 seats
  • Eastern Sector: 578 seats
  • Southern Sector: 322 seats
  • Central Sector: 253 seats

Candidates must choose a trade and location as per their preference, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria. Applications for more than one work centre or trade will result in apprenticeship being allocated at one centre and for one trade only, at ONGC's discretion. A detailed list of work centres, trades, and allocated seats is available in the original notification.

Age Criteria

  • Minimum Age: 18 years as on 2025-11-06
  • Maximum Age: 24 years as on 2025-11-06
  • The Date of Birth of the candidate/applicant should be between 2001-11-06 and 2007-11-06.

Age Concession & Relaxation

  • SC/ST candidates: Upper age relaxed by 5 years.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: Upper age relaxed by 3 years.
  • PwBD candidates: Age relaxation up to 10 years (additional 5 years for SC/ST PwBD and 3 years for OBC PwBD).

Qualification & Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are invited to apply for engagement as Apprentices under The Apprentices Act 1961. Essential minimum qualifications must be met. Qualifications acquired through distance learning are acceptable if recognized by relevant statutory bodies. Trade Certificates must be from ITIs/Technical Institutions recognized by State Board of Technical Education (SBTE)/National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). For posts requiring Trade Certificate in Electrician, a Wireman trade certificate is not acceptable. Candidates with B.A/B.Com/B.B.A/B.E./B.Tech must possess qualifications recognized by UGC/AICTE.

The duration of training for all mentioned trades is 12 months.

Domicile Requirement

A candidate is eligible to apply for a particular work centre if they are a resident (domicile) of, or have obtained their essential qualification from, the eligible district(s) corresponding to that work centre (Refer to Annexure 1 in the original document for details).

Stipend

Apprentices are eligible for a monthly stipend as per the Apprentices Act:

  • Graduate Apprentice (B.A/B.Com/B.Sc/B.B.A/B.E./B.Tech): Rs. 12,300/-
  • Three years Diploma in Engineering: Rs. 10,900/-
  • 10th/12th Pass Trade Apprentices: Rs. 8,200/-
  • ITI Trade (one-year duration): Rs. 9,600/-
  • ITI Trade (two-year duration): Rs. 10,560/-

Selection Process

Selections for engagement of Apprentices will be based on merit obtained in the qualifying examination. In case of a tie in merit, candidates with higher age will be preferred. Reservation for various categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) will be applied as per Government guidelines.

General Conditions

  • Candidates must carefully read the full advertisement for eligibility criteria and selection modalities.
  • Candidates should not have undergone or be currently pursuing Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  • Candidates with training or job experience of one year or more after attaining prescribed qualifications are NOT eligible as Technician Apprentice.
  • Applicants must not have completed three years after passing the qualifying examination as on the cut-off date of eligibility (2025-11-06).
  • ONGC will have no obligation to offer regular employment during or after the completion of the apprenticeship period.

  • For NAPS trades (Sl.No. 1 to 29): Candidates must register on the Skill India portal of the Government of India: https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in (registration effective from 2025-10-16).
  • For NATS trades (Sl.No. 30 to 39): Candidates must register on the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) portal: https://nats.education.gov.in (registration effective from 2025-10-17).
