The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announces the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2026, for filling vacancies of Assistant Commandants (Executive) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Eligibility Criteria
- Restriction: Examination is open only to certain categories of Departmental candidates of CISF.
- Service: Candidates must have completed four (04) years of regular service as on January 01 of the examination year in the rank of Sub Inspector (GD)/ Inspector (GD), including basic training, and maintain a clean service record for the last 4 years.
- Age Limit: Not attained 35 years as on August 01, 2026 (i.e., born not earlier than August 02, 1991). Age relaxation up to five years for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates.
- Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognized University.
- Desirable Qualification: NCC 'B' or 'C' Certificate.
- Attempts: Every eligible candidate is permitted three attempts.
Application Process
Candidates must apply online through the Commission's website. If not already registered on the Universal Registration Number (URN) platform, candidates must register first.
After online submission, a hard copy of the application form, with necessary certification by the appropriate authority, must be routed through proper channel to the CISF Authorities at the following address for verification and onward transmission to the Commission:

Note: Photograph and signature files must be in .jpg format, not exceeding 300 KB and not less than 20 KB. Candidates need details of one Photo ID (Aadhar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving License).
Selection Process
The selection process comprises multiple stages:
- Written Examination: Conducted by UPSC.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Conducted by CISF, qualifying in nature.
- Medical Standard Test (DME & RME): Conducted by CISF, qualifying in nature.
- Interview/Personality Test: Conducted by UPSC, carries 200 marks.

Scheme of Written Examination
- Paper-I: General Ability and Intelligence and Professional Skill (300 marks, 150 questions, 2½ hours)
- Objective Type (Multiple Choice Questions) in English and Hindi.
- Part-A: General Ability and Intelligence (75 Questions, 150 Marks)
- Part-B: Professional Skill (75 Questions, 150 Marks)
- Paper-II: Essay, Precis Writing and Comprehension (100 Marks, 2 hours)
- Essay Component can be written in English or Hindi.
- Précis Writing and Comprehension Components must be in English only.

- Paper I, Part-A (General Ability and Intelligence): General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events of National and International Importance, General Awareness (History, Geography, Polity, Economy).
- Paper I, Part-B (Professional Skill): CISF related Professional Skills (Industrial Security, Safety, Disaster Management, Aviation Security, Crime and Intelligence, Perimeter Security, Security of Vital Installations, Technical Gadgets, Bomb Disposal, VIP Security, Internal Security, Drone Technology, Security Consultancy), Law (Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, Labour Law, Other Criminal Offences, Human Rights), Computer Skills and Awareness, Service Rules and HR Matters.
- Paper II (Essay, Precis Writing and Comprehension): Tests writing skills, coherence, and comprehension.
Physical and Medical Standards
Candidates must meet the prescribed Physical and Medical Standards as specified in Appendix-II of the rules, and achieve SHAPE-1 medical category.

- PETs are qualifying only; failure in any test leads to disqualification.
- Pregnant female candidates will be declared temporarily unfit.
Medical Standards:
Includes detailed requirements for eye sight (no contact lenses/laser surgery), carrying angle, ear, nose, neck, teeth, and general health conditions. No history of specific diseases like TB, heart disease, diabetes, hernia, etc. Blood pressure and heart rate must be within normal limits.
Tie-Breaking Principle
In case of a tie in aggregate marks:
- Candidate with more marks in the written total will be ranked higher.
- If (1) is equal, candidate with more marks in "Paper-I: General Ability & Intelligence and Professional Skill" will be ranked higher.
- If (1) and (2) are equal, the candidate senior in age will be ranked higher.
- Any remaining tie will be resolved at the Commission's discretion.
Disqualification
Candidates may be disqualified for various reasons including obtaining undue support, impersonation, submitting fabricated documents, making false statements, using unfair means, or violating examination instructions.
