This Detailed Centralized Employment Notification (CEN No. 07/2025) is issued by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. It announces the recruitment for various posts of Non-Technical Popular Categories (Under Graduate).

Educational Qualifications

  • Candidates must have the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for the post from a recognized Board/University/Institute on or before the closing date of application (2025-11-27).
  • Those awaiting results of their final examination are NOT eligible to apply.
  • For all posts: 12th (+2 Stage) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. The 50% marks condition is not insisted upon for SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability/Ex-servicemen candidates and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th (+2 Stage).
  • For Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk Cum Typist: Typing proficiency in English / Hindi on Computer is essential.

Age Limit and Relaxation

Age limits will be reckoned as on 2026-01-01:

  • Age Group 18-30: Lower age limit (not born after) 2008-01-01. Upper age limit (not born earlier than): UR/EWS - 1996-01-02, OBC-NCL - 1993-01-02, SC/ST - 1991-01-02.

Age relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for the following categories:

  • SC & ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 3 years (UR & EWS), 6 years (OBC-NCL), 8 years (SC & ST) after deduction of length of service from age.
  • Persons With Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years (UR), 13 years (OBC-NCL), 15 years (SC & ST).
  • Serving Group C and erstwhile Group D Railway Staff: 40 years (UR & EWS), 43 years (OBC-NCL), 45 years (SC & ST).
  • Candidates working in Quasi-Administrative offices of the Railway organization: Up to the length of service rendered OR 5 years, whichever is less.
  • Female candidates (widowed, divorced or judicially separated and not remarried): 35 years (UR & EWS), 38 years (OBC-NCL), 40 years (SC & ST).

Examination Fee

  • For all candidates (except those mentioned below): ₹500/-, of which ₹400/- will be refunded upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT.
  • For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, or Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates: ₹250/-, which will be fully refunded upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT.
  • Fee payment can only be done ONLINE through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI. Applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
  • EBC candidates claiming concessional fee must possess a valid EBC certificate (Annexure IIIA) or BPL card or Izzat MST or other Central Government poverty alleviation certificate issued on or before the closing date (2025-11-27).

Reservations

  • Vertical Reservation: Provided for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) (OBC-NCL), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
  • Horizontal Reservation: Provided for Ex-Servicemen (ExSM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
  • OBC candidates in the 'Creamy Layer' are not eligible for OBC reservation and will be considered as Unreserved (UR).
  • EWS reservation requires an Income & Asset Certificate, with a family gross annual income below Rs. 8 Lakh for the financial year 2024-25. Exclusion criteria based on land and property holdings apply.

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

  • Candidates with not less than 40% benchmark disability are eligible for relaxation and reservation.
  • Detailed definitions of specified disabilities (Locomotor, Visual, Hearing, Speech & Language, Intellectual, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mental Illness, Chronic Neurological Conditions, Blood Disorder, Multiple Disabilities) are provided.
  • Scribe facility is available for eligible PwBD candidates, as per detailed guidelines in Para 11.7, upon submission of required certificates and undertakings.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process involves multiple stages:

  1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Common for all notified posts.
    • Objective type with multiple choices. Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible scribes). 100 questions (General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning). Negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer.
    • Minimum qualifying marks: UR/EWS-40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST-25% (2 marks relaxation for PwBD).
  2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Candidates shortlisted 15 times the vacancies based on 1st Stage CBT merit.
    • Objective type with multiple choices. Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible scribes). 120 questions (General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning). Negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer.
  3. Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST): Qualifying in nature for Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk Cum Typist posts.
    • Candidates must type 30 WPM in English OR 25 WPM in Hindi on a Personal Computer without editing tools and spell check facility.
    • Exemptions apply for certain PwBD categories.

How to Apply

  • Applications must be submitted ONLINE only through the links provided on the official RRB websites.
  • Candidates must first 'Create an Account' on the RRB portal. Existing account holders from previous CENs can use their credentials.
  • No changes are allowed in details entered in the 'Create an Account' form (including mobile number and Email ID).
  • Candidates are required to capture a live photograph during the application process. Pre-existing photographs are not allowed.
  • Multiple applications to different RRBs or the same RRB will lead to rejection of all applications.
  • A modification window will be available (2025-11-30 to 2025-12-09) for making corrections (except in 'Create an Account' details and chosen RRB) upon payment of a non-refundable fee of ₹250/-.
  • Identity authentication using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during the 'Create an Account' process is strongly advised for smoother verification.

Mandatory Scanned Documents

Candidates must keep the following documents ready for uploading during the online application:

  • Candidate Signature: JPG/JPEG format, 30 KB to 49 KB, 140 pixels (width) x 60 pixels (height), black ink pen on white paper, in running/cursive handwriting (NOT in BLOCK, CAPITAL, or DISJOINTED letters).
  • SC/ST Certificate (for candidates requesting Free Train Travel Pass): PDF format, less than 400 KB, legible, clear, and the latest valid certificate as on the closing date of application submission.

General Instructions

  • Admission to all stages is provisional, subject to fulfilling prescribed eligibility conditions.
  • Candidates must possess their own active mobile number and a valid personal Email ID for all communications.
  • The CBTs/CBTST Centre, date, and shift indicated in the e-call letter shall be final, with no requests for change entertained.
  • Vacancies are provisional and may increase or decrease. RRBs reserve the right to cancel notified vacancies.
  • Use of unfair practices, including fraud, impersonation, or submission of false documents, will result in debarment from all future RRB and RRC examinations for lifetime, and legal action.
  • Negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer in CBTs.
