Examination Overview

The selection process for Constable (Executive) posts in Delhi Police includes a Computer-Based Examination (CBE), Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT), and Document Verification (DV). The CBE will be conducted in English and Hindi. PE&MT will be held in Delhi after the CBE result and is qualifying in nature. Required eligibility certificates and documents will be verified during the PE&MT/DV stage.

The final result will be based on the CBE performance, subject to qualifying PE&MT and other conditions specified in the Notice of Examination. RTI, Public Grievances, and Representations related to online applications, CBE, answer keys, result declaration, and merit list will be handled by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Court cases originating in Delhi regarding these matters will be handled by Delhi Police; those from other regions will be handled by SSC. Grievances concerning PE&MT, DV, Medical Examination, and other issues will be dealt with by Delhi Police, to be raised on the same day of the event.

Pay Scale

The posts fall under Pay Level-3, with a salary range of ₹21,700 to ₹69,100, classified as Group 'C'.

Reservation for Ex-servicemen

10% vacancies are reserved for Ex-servicemen in each category of Constable (Exe.) male posts. Half (50%) of this quota is reserved for Ex-servicemen who:

  • Served in Special Forces/ NSG (Special Action Group), or;
  • Received a 'Qualified Instructors' grading in the Commando course, or;
  • Are Officers from the Navy/ Air Force who worked in specialized Commando-type units.

Note 1: Reservation for Ex-Servicemen is subject to the outcome of SLP (Civil) No. 1980/2014 & 1985/2014-Commissioner of Police, Delhi Vs. Pawan Singh & Ors. / Devi Ram & Anr & Ors.

Note 2: Personnel of CAPFs are not eligible under the Ex-Servicemen category.

Nationality/Citizenship

Candidates must be citizens of India.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18-25 years old as on 01-07-2025. Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02-07-2000 and later than 01-07-2007.

  • Wards of Delhi Police personnel and Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Hill Area categories are not entitled to double relaxation. They can choose either their own category or as a ward of Delhi Police personnel.
  • Age, height/chest, and educational qualification relaxation is extended only to wards of Delhi Police personnel and Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police who have not been dismissed, removed, terminated, or compulsorily retired.
  • Ex-Servicemen paid from Central revenues are eligible to be re-enlisted as constables if their discharge certificate shows previous service as Good or higher, provided they were discharged within two years from the closing date of application, meet educational/physical standards, and are medically fit. Period of "Call up Service" is treated as service for age relaxation.
  • Age concession/reservation is not admissible to sons, daughters, and dependents of ex-servicemen.

Process of Certification and Format of Certificate

Candidates seeking reservation or age-relaxation (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) must submit the requisite certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format during PE&MT/Document Verification. Failure to do so will result in their candidature being considered under the Un-reserved (UR) category.

  • OBC Category: Benefits are as per castes notified in the Central List and also for those with OBC certificates issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi. Candidates must ensure they are entitled to reservation and do not fall in the creamy layer on the crucial date.
  • EWS Category: Candidates must possess an Income & Asset certificate valid for the financial year 2025-26, issued based on income for financial year 2024-25, as per Annexure-VIII and DoP&T OM No. 36039/1/2019-Estt(Res.) dated 31.01.2019.
  • SC/ST Category: Candidates must ensure entitlement to reservation as per eligibility on the crucial date and possess the caste/community certificate.

The "crucial date" for all categories means the closing date of the receipt of the Online Application Form, by which the candidate should belong to the relevant category; it does not refer to the date of issue of the certificate.

Essential Qualification (as on 21-10-2025)

Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Senior Secondary) from a recognized Board. The educational qualification is relaxable up to 11th pass for:

  • Sons/daughters of serving, retired, or deceased Delhi Police Personnel/Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police, and
  • Bandsmen, buglers, mounted constables, drivers, dispatch riders, etc., of Delhi Police only.

Male candidates must possess a valid driving license for LMV (Motorcycle or Car) as of the date of the PE&MT. Learner Licenses are not acceptable.

Candidates who have not acquired the essential educational qualification by the stipulated date will not be eligible. Degrees/diplomas/certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning by UGC-recognized universities are generally recognized for central government employment, provided they were approved by UGC for the relevant period. Engineering, medicine, dental, nursing, pharmacy, architecture, and physiotherapy programs are not permitted via ODL mode, with an exception for B.Tech./diploma in Engineering awarded by IGNOU up to academic year 2009-10.

All shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates for their educational qualification on or before the closing date of receipt of the Online Application Form. The result of the qualifying Examination must have been declared by the Board concerned by the specified date.

Incentive to NCC Certificate Holders

Incentive/Bonus marks will be granted to NCC Certificate holders as follows:

Weightage of Additional Marks

Candidates possessing a Degree or Post Graduate Diploma Certificate awarded by the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) will receive additional marks:

How to Apply

All candidates must complete their One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website of the Commission (https://ssc.gov.in). The earlier OTR on the old website (https://ssc.nic.in) will not be functional. After OTR, candidates can proceed to fill the Online Application Form for the Examination. A generated OTR will remain valid for all future examinations. For detailed instructions, refer to Annexure-I and Annexure-II of the Examination Notice.
