5. Criteria for Selection & Examination

(a) Qualifying Tests

  • The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) will invite an adequate number of candidates based on their merit in the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and then the Physical Screening Test (PST).
  • Both PMT and PST are qualifying in nature.
  • HSSC will shortlist qualified candidates, equal to four times the number of advertised posts for each category, to appear for the Knowledge Test.

(b) Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

  • Candidates must undergo a PMT as per the standards prescribed in Appendix-B of the Haryana Police (Non-Gazetted and Other Ranks) Service Rules, 2017, as amended.
  • To ensure fairness and transparency, standard digital measurement devices will be used, allowing candidates to view their measurements on a digital display.
  • The result of the PMT will be prepared by the HSSC and displayed on its official website.
  • Candidates who fail to meet the prescribed standards will be eliminated from the selection process.
  • Only candidates who qualify the PMT will proceed to the next stage of selection.

Syllabus and Pattern for Knowledge Test

(f) Syllabus for Knowledge Test (94.5 Marks)

The test paper will include questions on:

  • General Studies
  • General Science
  • Current Affairs
  • General Reasoning
  • Mental Aptitude
  • Numerical Ability
  • Agriculture
  • Animal Husbandry
  • Other relevant fields/trade
  • A minimum of 10% of questions will be related to basic computer knowledge.
  • A minimum of 20% of questions will be related to basic knowledge about Haryana.
  • The standard of questions will be as expected for a person who has passed the 10+2 examination for the post of Constable.

(g) Pattern of Examination

  • All questions are compulsory.
  • The question paper will be bilingual (English & Hindi).
  • An offline (OMR based) written examination will be conducted.
  • Marking Scheme:
    • Total Questions: 100
    • Weightage per question: 0.945 marks
    • No negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Answering Process:
    • Candidates must compulsorily fill one of the five options provided.
    • An extra five minutes will be given to mark the fifth option if the candidate does not know the answer.
  • Total Time: 105 minutes (100 + 5 minutes).
  • Penalty for Un-attempted Questions: If a candidate does not mark any of the five options for a question, 0.945 marks will be deducted for each such un-attempted question.
