Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 10th class or hold an ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent, or have a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 33 years

Age relaxation for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen) will be applicable as per government norms.

Application Fee

  • For all candidates (except fee concession categories): ₹500/- (An amount of ₹400 will be refunded upon appearing in the CBT, after deduction of bank charges).
  • For candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and Economically Backward Class (EBC): ₹250/- (This fee will be refunded upon appearing in the CBT, after deduction of bank charges).

Payment must be made online through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process will comprise the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Medical Examination (ME)

Exam Pattern

Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates using a Scribe).
  • Number of Questions: 100
  • Negative Marking: There will be negative marking, and 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be called for the PET. The criteria are as follows:

  • Male Candidates:
    • Lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
    • Run for 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
  • Female Candidates:
    • Lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
    • Run for 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

How to Apply

  1. Applications must be submitted only through the official websites of the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
  2. Candidates need to create an account on the RRB portal.
  3. A live photograph will be captured during the online application process. Candidates should be prepared for this and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Candidates must upload a scanned copy of their signature and required documents (e.g., SC/ST certificate for travel pass) in the prescribed format.
  5. Candidates are advised to submit their applications well before the last date to avoid any last-minute rush.
