CSIR-CMERI invites online applications from suitably qualified, dynamic, result-oriented, and dedicated Indian citizens for the position of Technician-I. The institute is looking for dynamic and creative Technicians in various trades for CSIR-CMERI at Durgapur (West Bengal) and its Extension Centre, the Centre of Excellence for Farm Machinery at Ludhiana (Punjab).

251102 ELECTRICIAN / MECHANIC (ELECTRICAL POWER DRIVES) 05 -/02/01/01/01/- SSC/10th with Science subjects (min 55% marks) AND ITI certificate in the trade OR 2 years' full-time apprenticeship OR 3 years' work experience. Understanding of electrical circuits, knowledge of single/three-phase systems, ability to install/repair electrical systems, conversant with electrical tools, and knowledge of safety standards.
251103 ELECTRONICS MECHANIC / INSTRUMENT MECHANIC 06 01/02/01/01/01/- SSC/10th with Science subjects (min 55% marks) AND ITI certificate in the trade OR 2 years' full-time apprenticeship OR 3 years' work experience. Proficiency in repairing electronic equipment, ability to troubleshoot, familiarity with testing instruments, PCB making, motor/sensor wiring, and programming of embedded boards.
2501104 DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 01 01/-/-/-/-/- SSC/10th with Science subjects (min 55% marks) AND ITI certificate in Digital Photography OR 2 years' full-time apprenticeship OR 3 years' work experience. Required to perform digital photography and videography, operate computers proficiently, and use modern photo/video editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, etc.).

Mode of Selection

  1. Screening: Applications will be screened by a committee.
  2. Trade Test: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Trade Test in the relevant trade, which will be qualifying in nature.
  3. Competitive Written Examination: Candidates who qualify the Trade Test will be called for the Written Examination.

Scheme of Competitive Written Examination

  • Mode of Exam: OMR based or Computer Based Test (Objective Type)
  • Medium: English and Hindi (except for the English Language paper)
  • Standard of Exam: SSC + ITI / XIIth Standard
  • Total Questions: 150
  • Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes

Application Fee

  • Amount: ₹500/-
  • Exemption: Ex-servicemen/SC/ST/Women/PwBD candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
  • Payment Mode: Online through State Bank Collect only.

  3. A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- is mandatory for applicants (unless exempted) and must be paid via State Bank Collect.
  4. Candidates are required to upload a recent passport-size color photograph, signature, and all relevant certificates as specified.
  5. The online application portal will be open from 22.12.2025 (10:00 AM) to 21.01.2026 (05:00 PM).
