Content of Syllabus for HTET Level-I, Level-II and Level-III

Note on Difficulty Levels

  • Level-I (PRT): The difficulty level will be up to the standard of the secondary level. Questions will be based on the prescribed syllabus of classes 1st to 5th by the Education Department, Government of Haryana.
  • Level-II (TGT): The difficulty level will be up to the standard of the Senior Secondary level. Questions will be based on the prescribed syllabus of classes 6th to 10th by the Education Department, Government of Haryana.
  • Level-III (PGT): The difficulty level will be up to the standard of the Post Graduate level. Questions will be based on the prescribed syllabus of classes 9th to 12th by the Education Department, Government of Haryana.

Level-I Syllabus

Part-I: Child Development and Pedagogy

  • Development Concepts: Concept of development, its relationship with learning, principles of child development, influence of heredity & environment, socialization processes.
  • Constructs and Perspectives: Piaget, Kohlberg, and Vygotsky; child-centered and progressive education, construct of intelligence, multi-dimensional intelligence, language & thought, gender as a social construct.
  • Assessment: Individual differences among learners, assessment for learning vs. assessment of learning, School-Based Assessment, Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation.
  • Inclusive Education: Addressing learners from diverse backgrounds, children with learning difficulties and special needs.
  • Learning and Pedagogy: How children think and learn, basic processes of teaching and learning, problem-solving, cognition & emotions, motivation, factors contributing to learning.

Part-II: Language

  • Language-I (Hindi) & Language-II (English):
    • Language Comprehension: Reading unseen passages (prose/drama/poem) with questions on comprehension, inference, grammar, and verbal ability.
    • Pedagogy of Language Development: Learning and acquisition, principles of language teaching, role of listening and speaking, role of grammar, challenges of teaching in a diverse classroom, language skills.
    • Teaching-learning materials: Textbook, multi-media materials, multilingual resources.

Part-III: General Studies

  • Haryana GK: History, current affairs, literature, Geography, Civics, Environment, Culture, Art, Traditions, and Welfare Schemes.
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, analogies, similarities, differences, spatial visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number systems, decimals, fractions, percentage, ratio & proportion, square roots, averages, interest, profit & loss, time & work, basic algebra, geometry, mensuration, data interpretation.

Part-IV: Subject Specific Syllabus

  • Mathematics: Geometry, shapes, numbers, addition/subtraction, multiplication, division, measurement, data handling, patterns, money. Pedagogical issues related to mathematics teaching.
  • Environmental Studies: Family and friends, food, shelter, water, travel, things we make and do. Pedagogical issues related to EVS teaching.

Level-II Syllabus

This level includes Parts I, II, and III similar to Level-I, with the addition of a subject-specific Part-IV.

Part-IV: Subject Specific Syllabus (Select One)

  • Science: Sorting materials, separation of substances, acids/bases/salts, physical & chemical changes, coal & petroleum, combustion, matter, atoms & molecules, chemical reactions, metals & non-metals, carbon compounds, life processes, motion, force, energy, sound, light, electricity, etc.
  • Physical Education: Meaning & history of physical education, biological basis, anatomy & physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, sports psychology, yoga, test measurement, sports management & training.
  • English: Reading comprehension, grammar (tenses, voices, narration, etc.), basic phonetics, and literature from Haryana Board syllabus (Classes VI-X).
  • Social Studies: Geography, political theory, Indian constitution, ancient, medieval, and modern Indian history, world history, agriculture, economics, and pedagogy.
  • Mathematics: Number system, arithmetic, trigonometry, algebra, statistics, probability, geometry, coordinate geometry, and mensuration.
  • Other Subjects: Syllabi are also provided for Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Fine Arts, Music, and Home Science, covering grammar, literature, pedagogy, and subject-specific concepts for the TGT level.

Level-III Syllabus

This level includes Parts I, II, and III similar to the other levels, with a more advanced subject-specific Part-IV.

Part-IV: Subject Specific Syllabus (Select One)

  • Chemistry: Matter, atomic structure, chemical reactions, periodic properties, bonding, thermodynamics, equilibrium, organic chemistry, solutions, electrochemistry, kinetics, d & f block elements, coordination compounds, biomolecules.
  • Biology: Cell biology, diversity in the living world, plant and animal physiology, human physiology, human welfare, ecology, genetics, evolution, biotechnology.
  • Physics: Mechanics, electromagnetism, light, modern physics (dual nature of radiation, atoms, nuclei, semiconductors).
  • Physical Education: Advanced topics in history, sociology, and psychology of sports, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, health education, sports training, research methods, and management.
  • English: Reading comprehension, advanced grammar, usage, phonetics (stress and intonation), and literature from the Haryana Board syllabus (Classes IX-XII).
  • Commerce: Business, trade, forms of business organization, management principles, business environment, finance, marketing, accounting principles, financial statements, partnership accounts, company accounts, computerized accounting, economics.
  • Mathematics: Advanced topics in sets, relations, functions, algebra (complex numbers, matrices, determinants), calculus (limits, derivatives, integrals), vectors, 3D geometry, linear programming, and probability.
  • Psychology: Mind and behavior, methods of enquiry, sensory and perceptual processes, learning, memory, human development, thinking, motivation, emotion, personality, stress, psychological disorders, and therapeutic approaches.
  • Other Subjects: Detailed, advanced syllabi are also provided for Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Sociology, Computer Science, Geography, Political Science, History, Economics, Home Science, Fine Arts, and Music for the PGT level.
