Notice on Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for CEN 06/2024 - Special Instructions to the Candidates

This notice provides special instructions for candidates appearing for the Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for the recruitment of various Non-Technical Popular Categories (Under Graduate) posts under CEN 06/2024.

Test Schedule and Requirements

  • Test Date: The CBTST is scheduled to be held on 13-02-2026.
  • City Intimation: The city intimation slip is already live.
  • Typing Requirement: Candidates are required to type at least 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi.

Exam Session Structure

The exam session consists of three parts:

  1. Typing Practice (1 minute): To warm up and familiarize with the keyboard.
  2. Break (5 minutes): A break before the main test.
  3. Typing Test (10 minutes): This part will be taken for evaluation.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Candidates who complete the passage can retype it from the beginning within the 10-minute test duration.
  • Transcripts of candidates who fail to type the minimum required words (300 in English or 250 in Hindi) will not be evaluated.
  • Mistakes are classified as full and half mistakes. An allowance for 5% of mistakes of the total words typed is provided.
  • Total Mistakes Calculation: No. of full mistakes + (No. of half mistakes / 2) = Total Mistakes
  • Final Mistake Count: Total Mistakes - 5% of total words typed = Final count of mistakes

Typing Speed Calculation

The typing speed is calculated using the following formula: Typing Speed = [No. of total words typed – (Final count of mistake x 10)] / Time

Example: If a candidate types 400 words in 10 minutes and has 10 final mistakes, the speed will be: (400 - (10x10)) / 10 = 300 / 10 = 30 w.p.m.

Minimum Speed Requirement

  • English: 30 words per minute (w.p.m.)
  • Hindi: 25 words per minute (w.p.m.)

Additional Instructions

  • The use of editing tools to correct mistakes is not permitted.
  • Candidates should rely only on official RRB websites for the latest updates.
  • Candidates are warned against touts promising appointments through illegal means. Selections are based purely on the merit of the candidates in the Computer Based Test (CBT).
