The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), on behalf of the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, invites online applications from eligible Indian nationals for recruitment to various posts in Isolated Categories across different Zonal Railways and Production Units.

Application Fee

  • For all candidates (except fee concession categories): ₹500/-. An amount of ₹400/- will be refunded after deducting bank charges, on appearing in the Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • For candidates belonging to SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically Backward Class (EBC): ₹250/-. This fee will be refunded after deducting bank charges, on appearing in the CBT.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (as on the closing date 29-01-2026)

  • Chief Law Assistant: Degree in Law with 3 years of standing practice as an advocate.
  • Public Prosecutor: Degree in Law from a recognized university and five years of experience as an advocate.
  • Junior Translator (Hindi): Master's Degree from a recognized University in Hindi or English with specific subject combinations at Degree level, OR a recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa and two years' experience.
  • Senior Publicity Inspector: Degree from a recognized university and a Diploma in Public Relations / Advertising / Journalism / Mass Communication from a recognized institution.
  • Staff & Welfare Inspector: Graduate Degree plus Diploma in Labour/Social Welfare or LLB with Labour Laws, or specific Post Graduate diplomas in personnel management.
  • Scientific Assistant (Training): Second class Master's Degree in Psychology. One year experience in administering psychological tests is desirable.
  • Laboratory Assistant Gr. III (Chemist & Metallurgist): 12th (+2 stage) with Science subjects (Physics and Chemistry) or its equivalent.
  • Scientific Supervisor/Agronomics and Training: Second class Master's degree in Psychology or Physiology. Two years of experience in administering psychological tests or research work is required.

Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)

The age limit varies for each post as mentioned in the vacancy table. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • PwBD (UR): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC-NCL): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process will involve the following stages:

  1. Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT).
  2. Translation Test (TT) for Junior Translator (Hindi) posts only.
  3. Document Verification (DV).
  4. Medical Examination (ME).

Examination Pattern

Single Stage CBT (for all posts except Junior Translator)

  • Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates with Scribe).
  • Number of Questions: 100.
  • Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Syllabus:
    • Professional Ability: 50 Questions
    • General Awareness: 15 Questions
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning: 15 Questions
    • Mathematics: 10 Questions
    • General Science: 10 Questions

For Junior Translator (Hindi)

  • The CBT will test proficiency in both English and Hindi languages. At least 50% of the questions will be designed to test language proficiency.
  • Candidates who qualify the CBT will be shortlisted for a Translation Test, which will be of a qualifying nature. Final merit will be based on CBT marks.

How to Apply

  1. Applications must be submitted ONLINE only through the official websites of the RRBs.
  2. Candidates must first create an account on the RRB portal.
  3. A live photograph of the candidate will be captured during the application process. Candidates must not upload pre-existing photos.
  4. Scanned signatures and other required documents (like caste certificates for travel pass) must be uploaded as per the specified format.
  5. The application fee must be paid online via internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
