This Detailed Centralized Employment Notification (CEN) No. 06/2025 is issued by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, for the recruitment of various Non-Technical Popular Categories (Graduate) posts.

Vacancy Details

Applications are invited for a total of 5810 vacancies across various Non-Technical Popular Categories (Graduate) posts in different Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). The detailed distribution of vacancies is provided in Annexure B of the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualifications for the chosen post on or before the closing date for application submission (2025-11-20). Candidates awaiting final results of prescribed educational qualifications are NOT eligible to apply. Specific post-wise parameters are detailed in Annexure A.

Age Limit

Age will be reckoned as on 2026-01-01.

  • Age Group: 18-33 years.
  • Lower age limit (not born after): 2008-01-01
  • Upper age limit (not born earlier than):
    • UR/EWS: 1993-01-02
    • OBC-NCL: 1990-01-02
    • SC/ST: 1988-01-02

Age Relaxation

  • SC & ST Candidates: 5 Years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates: 3 Years
  • Ex-servicemen: 3, 6, or 8 years (after deduction of length of service) depending on category.
  • Persons With Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10, 13, or 15 years depending on category.
  • Serving Group C and erstwhile Group D Railway Staff: Up to 40, 43, or 45 years of age depending on category and service.
  • Female Candidates (widowed, divorced, judicially separated and not remarried): Up to 35, 38, or 40 years of age depending on category.

Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came before 1962, or a person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India. A certificate of eligibility may be required from the Government of India.

Medical Fitness Standards

Candidates called for Document Verification must pass requisite medical fitness test(s) as per Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM) Vol. I. Visual Acuity Standard is crucial.

  • Medical Standard A-2: Distant Vision 6/9, 6/9 (without glasses); Near Vision Sn: 0.6, 0.6 (without glasses); must pass Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, and Myopic vision tests.
  • Medical Standard B-2: Distant Vision 6/9, 6/12 (with or without glasses, power not exceeding 4D); Near Vision Sn: 0.6, 0.6 (with or without glasses); must pass Field of Vision (Binocular Vision) test.
  • Medical Standard C-2: Distant Vision 6/12 (nil with or without glasses); Near Vision Sn: 0.6 (combined with or without glasses). Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery are not eligible for posts requiring Medical Standard A-2.

Application Fee

  • For all candidates (except those mentioned below): ₹500/- (An amount of ₹400/- will be refunded upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT).
  • For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, or Economically Backward Class (EBC): ₹250/- (Refundable upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT). Note: EBC candidates claiming concession must possess a valid EBC certificate (Annexure IIIA), BPL card, Izzat MST, or a certificate issued by Central Government under a recognized poverty alleviation programme, issued on or before 2025-11-20, at the time of application.

How to Apply

  1. Applications must be submitted ONLINE ONLY through the official RRB websites (see Para 16.0 for the list of websites).
  2. Candidates must first create an account. Existing users can use their previous login credentials.
  3. A valid personal mobile number and an active email ID are mandatory.
  4. Identity authentication using DigiLocker or Aadhaar is advised for smoother verification.
  5. Fill the online application form with correct information. No corrections to account creation details (mobile number, Email ID) allowed.
  6. Upload a live photo taken during the application process (no pre-existing photos) and a scanned copy of your signature as per specifications (black ink on white paper, running handwriting, 30-49 KB, 140x60 pixels minimum).
  7. SC/ST candidates requesting free train travel pass must also upload their SC/ST certificate in PDF format (less than 400 KB).
  8. Pay the examination fee online using internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
  9. Multiple applications to different RRBs or the same RRB will lead to the rejection of all applications.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process involves the following stages:

  1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Common for all notified posts. Screening nature. Duration 90 minutes (120 for scribe users), 100 questions (General Awareness 40, Mathematics 30, General Intelligence and Reasoning 30). Negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer.
  2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Shortlisting based on 1st Stage CBT normalized marks (15 times vacancies). Duration 90 minutes (120 for scribe users), 120 questions (General Awareness 50, Mathematics 35, General Intelligence and Reasoning 35). Negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer.
  3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Only for Station Master / Traffic Assistant posts. Qualifying nature (minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery). Merit list for these posts based on 70% 2nd Stage CBT marks and 30% CBAT marks.
  4. Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST): Only for Senior Clerk cum Typist and Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist posts. Qualifying nature (30 WPM English or 25 WPM Hindi). Exemptions for certain PwBD categories.
  5. Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted in a 1:1 ratio. Must produce original documents and certificates.
  6. Medical Examination (ME): Candidates must pass the prescribed medical fitness tests.

Scribe Assistance

Scribe facility and compensatory time (20 minutes per hour) are available for eligible Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and those with less than 40% disability but difficulty in writing. Scribes must be registered online (rrbapply.gov.in) and meet specific eligibility criteria (e.g., scribe's qualification one step below the candidate's).

Reservation

  • Vertical Reservation: For SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and EWS candidates as per extant rules.
  • Horizontal Reservation: For Ex-Servicemen (ExSM) and PwBD, including backlog vacancies.

  • Candidates must have their own active mobile number and valid Email ID for all communications.
  • RRBs reserve the right to change/modify/add/delete any terms and conditions or cancel any part/whole of the recruitment process.
