General Instructions for Examination

  1. Aadhaar registration is mandatory.
  2. Candidates must bring their original photo identity card (Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Passport, or Marksheet with Photo and Signature issued by an official authority). E-Aadhaar is valid only if verified by UIDAI.
  3. Candidates must bring their original ID, Aadhaar card/e-Aadhaar/copy of Aadhaar/Aadhaar number/Aadhaar VID.
  4. Biometric verification is mandatory at the time of entry and during the examination.
  5. Entry into the examination center will only be permitted until the specified reporting time. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter.
  6. Electronic devices such as mobile phones, calculators, log tables, sunglasses, and other unauthorized materials are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
  7. Candidates must retain their online application number carefully for downloading the admit card.
  8. Candidates must bring a ballpoint pen and the downloaded admit card to the examination center.
  9. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before the completion of the examination.
  10. The ESB does not verify certificates during the application process; verification is conducted by the concerned department during the appointment process. Eligibility is provisional.

General Conditions

  • Candidates must be citizens of India.
  • Candidates with more than two living children, one of whom was born on or after January 26, 2001, will not be eligible for appointment. However, if a candidate has one child and subsequent delivery results in two or more children, they will not be disqualified.
  • The following certificates are mandatory by 2025-11-10: Age/Age Relaxation, Education, Ex-servicemen, and Reservation certificates.
  • Government employees must inform their appointing authority. Prior permission from the appointing authority must be submitted at the time of joining.
  • Candidates disqualified on disciplinary grounds or removed from service will not be eligible.
  • Appointment orders will be canceled if selected candidates fail to report by the prescribed date. Medical certificates or other grounds will not be accepted unless specifically permitted in writing by the competent authority.
  • Persons with disabilities are exempt from police department services as per M.P. Government, Home (Police) Department circular No. F-2(a)/541/92/b/(4)/do/Bhopal dated 04.04.1995.

Educational Qualifications

  • For Sub-Inspector (General Duty – excluding Special Armed Force), including Female Sub-Inspector: Graduate from any recognized university or equivalent.
  • For Sub-Inspector (General Duty – Special Armed Force): Graduate from any recognized university or equivalent.
  • For Subedar: Graduate from any recognized university or equivalent.
  • No relaxation in educational qualifications, except in exceptional cases as decided by the committee.

Examination Scheme

The selection process consists of two phases:

  1. Phase 1: Preliminary Written Examination (Appendix 1)
    • Conducted by MP Employees Selection Board (ESB).
    • Results will be provisional.
  2. Phase 2: Main Written Examination (Appendix 2), Physical Proficiency Test (Appendix 3), and Interview
    • Conducted by MP Employees Selection Board (ESB).

Candidates called for Main Written Exam: 10 times the number of vacancies. Candidates called for Physical Proficiency Test: 3 times the number of vacancies (based on Main Exam performance).

Bonus Marks

  • 5% additional marks in the Preliminary Examination for specific categories as per Government of Madhya Pradesh, General Administration Department orders C 3-9/2019/1/3 dated 2022-02-22, 2022-12-14, and 2023-04-06.

Verification of Certificates, Physical Measurement, Physical Proficiency Test & Interview

  • Document verification will occur during Phase 2.
  • All required certificates must be held by the candidate by the document verification date.
  • Candidates must bring original certificates and self-attested copies of the following:
    • Date of Birth proof (10th/12th mark sheet).
    • Educational Qualification certificates.
    • Caste (SC/ST/OBC), EWS certificates (for MP Domicile candidates, in prescribed format).
    • Disability certificate (if applicable).
    • Ex-servicemen certificate.
    • NCC certificate (if applicable).
    • Inter-caste marriage certificate (if applicable).

Physical Standards

  • Height:
    • Male: 167.5 cm or more
    • Female: 152.4 cm or more
  • Chest (Male Only):
    • Unexpanded: 81 cm or more
    • Expanded: 86 cm or more (minimum 5 cm expansion is mandatory)
  • Eyesight:
    • No eye disease/disorder. Uncorrected vision should be 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other.
    • Ability to distinguish main colors (tested with Ishihara Plate).
  • Physical Conditions: No knock-knees, flat feet, or any physical disability.
  • Medical examination will be conducted by District, Divisional, and State Medical Boards. Videography of the medical examination will be done. Color Blindness will be tested using Ishihara Plates and Anomaloscope Test.
  • Relaxed physical standards apply for Ex-servicemen (refer to detailed tables in the rules booklet).

Character Verification

  • Concealing or providing false information in the character verification form will lead to disqualification.
  • Character verification will be conducted as per Government of Madhya Pradesh, Home Department order No. F-17-01/2017/do/C-2 dated 2018-07-24.
  • Guidelines from the Supreme Court case Mehar Singh vs Commissioner of Police (Civil Special Leave Petition No. 38886/2012) will be followed.

Appointment

  • Appointments will be based on merit, candidate preference, and departmental requirements.
  • Candidates will need to serve a minimum of 5 years in the assigned unit before being eligible for transfer.
  • Subedars and Sub-Inspectors appointed in Naxalite-affected areas will be eligible for promotion after 2 years of service.
  • Candidates selected for the District Executive Force cadre will not be posted in their home district.
  • Provisional appointments may be made if certificate verification is pending.
  • Probation Period: 3 years, as per Government of Madhya Pradesh, General Administration Department circular No. C 3-13/2019/3/one dated 2019-12-12.
  • Stipend during probation: 70% of minimum pay scale in the 1st year, 80% in the 2nd year, and 90% in the 3rd year.
  • The defined contribution pension system applies to employees appointed on or after 2005-01-01, as per Finance Department circulars F-9/3/2003/Rule-4 dated 2005-04-13 and F-9/D/2003 Rule-4 dated 2005-07-02.
  • No permanent or temporary exemption from training. Failure to join or complete training will lead to removal from the selection list.
  • Selected candidates may be posted in other police branches or MP government departments, within or outside the state. No travel allowance will be provided for joining training.

  • Negative marking: 1/3 for wrong answers. No negative marking for unattempted questions.

Paper I - General Studies (300 Marks)

  • Part A: History and Indian Society (150 Marks)
    • Indian History (Harappan civilization, Mauryan Empire, Gupta Empire, Harshavardhana, descriptions of social life by travelers from 11th to 14th century, Bhakti-Sufi traditions of medieval India, Vijayanagara Empire, Mughal Empire, East India Company and Colonialism in India, Revolt of 1857, colonial urbanization and town planning, Mahatma Gandhi and national movement, formation of Constitution).
    • Integration and reorganization within the country after independence.
    • Main features of Indian society, diversity of India.
    • Demographics of India and Madhya Pradesh, along with tribes of Madhya Pradesh.
    • Role of women and women's organizations, population and related issues, poverty and developmental issues, urbanization, their problems and remedies.
    • Impact of globalization on Indian society.
  • Part B: Governance, Constitution and Politics, Social Justice and Legislation (150 Marks)
    • Indian Constitution (historical basis, evolution, features, amendments, important provisions and basic structure).
    • Functions and responsibilities of the Union and the States, issues and challenges related to the federal structure, transfer of powers and finances to local levels and challenges therein.
    • Separation of powers between various organs, dispute resolution mechanisms and institutions.
    • Parliament and State Legislatures (structure, functioning, conduct of business, powers and privileges, and issues arising therefrom).
    • Structure, organization and functioning of the Executive and Judiciary (Ministries and Departments of the Government, pressure groups and formal/informal associations and their role in politics).

    • Indian economy and planning, mobilization of resources, progress, development and employment related issues.
    • New technologies such as Information and Communication Technology, Remote Sensing, Space GIS, GPS, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Policing, Traffic, Spatial Planning, Home and Sports, etc., and their applications.
    • Traditional and non-traditional energy resources, renewable energy.
    • Role of police services in democracy.
    • Relationship between development and extremism.
    • Role of external and non-state actors posing challenges to internal security, challenges to internal security in communication networks, role of media and social networking sites, basics of cybersecurity, money laundering and its prevention.

  • Part B: Logic and Data Interpretation (150 Marks)
    • Basic numbers and statistics (numbers and their relations), probability.
    • Data management and interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, statistics, data sufficiency, etc.). Mean, Median, Mode and Deviation.
    • Ratio and Proportion, Unitary method.
    • Profit and Loss, Percentage, Discount, Simple and Compound Interest.
    • Area, Perimeter, Volume.
    • Logical Reasoning, Analytical Ability and Problem Solving.

Physical Proficiency Test (PPT) & Interview

  • The PPT is mandatory for all candidates and will be for a total of 100 marks. Minimum 30% marks required in PPT for appointment consideration.
  • Components of PPT:
    • 800 Meter Race: 40 marks (1 attempt)
    • Long Jump: 30 marks (3 attempts)
    • Shot Put: 30 marks (3 attempts)
  • Personality Interview: 50 marks, for candidates who clear PPT and document verification.
  • Detailed score tables for males and females based on time/distance are provided in the rulebook.
  • Note: No exemption from physical fitness tests will be granted on medical or any other grounds.

Online Application Process

  • Applications must be submitted online only.
  • Candidates must fill one application for multiple posts, clearly indicating their preferences.
  • Minimum educational qualifications must be completed by the last date of application.
  • Providing false information will lead to disqualification.
  • Document verification will be conducted by the concerned department at the time of appointment.

Payment Process

  • The portal fee can be paid using credit/debit cards or internet banking.
  • Candidates must save the payment receipt for future reference.

Application Correction

  • Online application corrections are allowed during the specified dates (2025-10-27 to 2025-11-15).
  • A correction fee will be charged for each modification.
  • No refund will be provided for category changes from unreserved to reserved. An additional fee will be required for changes from reserved to unreserved.

Cancellation of Application

  • Applications may be canceled due to errors, unclear data in the photo/signature, or unavailability of data.
