Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET), 2025 Notification

Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) invites applications for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET), 2025 for both Secondary (Paper-I) and Higher Secondary (Paper-II) level teachers. This examination is being conducted as per the directives from the Director, Secondary Education, Bihar.

Examination Structure

The STET 2025 will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and will consist of multiple-choice questions. There will be no negative marking.

  • Total Marks: 150
  • Subject-specific questions: 100 marks
  • Art of Teaching & Other Skills: 50 marks

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Residency: Candidates must be a permanent resident of Bihar.

  2. Educational Qualification: Minimum 50% marks in the relevant subject at graduation/post-graduation level from a recognized university, along with a B.Ed. degree (except for Computer Science). Eligibility criteria are as per NCTE Regulations, 2007 (as amended on 13.11.2002).

    • Paper-I (Secondary Level): Graduation with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject group and a B.Ed. degree.

      • Specific Subject Combinations: Detailed subject combinations are provided in the official notification for subjects like Social Science, Science, and Mathematics. Candidates are advised to refer to the detailed notification for specific requirements.
      • For Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Dance: Specific degree/diploma requirements with minimum marks (generally 45-50%) apply.
      • Computer Science: Minimum 50% marks in Master's Degree in Computer Applications (MCA) or B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science/IT or equivalent. B.Ed. is not required for Computer Science teachers.
      • Agriculture: Minimum 50% marks in Graduation in Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Plant Physiology.
    • Paper-II (Higher Secondary Level): Post-graduation with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject group and a B.Ed. degree.

      • Computer Science: Similar to Paper-I, B.Ed. is not required for Computer Science teachers at the higher secondary level.

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2025)

  • Minimum Age: 21 years.
  • Maximum Age: The maximum age limit for different categories is as follows:

  • Age Relaxation: 10 years for Persons with Disability (PwD) and 3 years + service period for ex-servicemen.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official website https://secondary.biharboardonline.com.
  2. Register, then log in to fill out the application form.
  3. Upload scanned copies of required documents (Matric, Inter, Graduation, Post-Graduation certificates, B.Ed. certificates, Caste certificate (if applicable), Resident certificate, PwD certificate, Ex-servicemen certificate, Aadhaar card, Photo, Signature).
    • Photo: Recent color photograph, white/light background, 3.5cm x 4.5cm, file size between 50KB-200KB.
    • Signature: Black ink, file size between 50KB-200KB.
  4. Pay the application fee online.
  5. Review the application form thoroughly before final submission.
  6. No changes will be allowed after final submission.
  7. Submit the application.
