Canara Bank, a leading Public Sector Bank with its Head Office in Bengaluru and a global presence, invites online applications from eligible Indian Citizens for the engagement of Graduate Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the Financial Year 2025-26.
Important Dates
- Registration on Apprenticeship Portal (www.nats.education.gov.in): 22.09.2025 onwards (for candidates not registered earlier).
- Online Registration in Canara Bank Website: 23.09.2025 to 12.10.2025 (both days inclusive).
Details of Training Seats
A total of 3500 training seats are available across various States/Union Territories. The distribution of seats includes reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, UR, and PwBD categories (HI, OC, VI, ID).
- Note: The number of training seats mentioned is provisional and may vary according to the actual requirement of the Bank.
- Candidates can opt for training seats in only ONE STATE. Allotment will be based on the Bank's needs and availability of seats in respective districts.
- Bank reserves the right to allot training seats in any district of the selected State as per administrative requirement.
Eligibility Criteria
All eligibility (Age, Qualification, etc.) shall be computed as on 01.09.2025 (inclusive).
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 20 years
- Maximum Age: 28 years
- Candidates must have been born not earlier than 01.09.1997 and not later than 01.09.2005 (both days inclusive).
Age Relaxation
- Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 5 years
- Other Backward Classes (OBC - Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
- Widows, divorced women and women legally separated (who have not remarried): Up to 35 years for General/EWS, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST candidates.
- Persons affected by 1984 riots: 5 years
- Note: Age relaxation is allowed on a cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories (point 3 and 5 above). The maximum age limit specified is applicable to General Category and EWS candidates.
Educational Qualification
- A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. of India or an equivalent qualification.
- Candidates must have passed their Graduation not earlier than 01.01.2022 and not later than 01.09.2025 (both days inclusive).
Test of Local Language
- Candidates producing 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/certificate evidencing study of the specified local language will not be required to undergo a local language test.
- For other candidates, a local language test will be conducted as part of the selection process during Document Verification. Failure to qualify will result in non-engagement.
Physical/Medical Fitness
- Engagement is subject to being declared medically fit as per the Bank's requirements.
Important Notes on Eligibility
- Candidates should not have undergone Apprenticeship Training with Canara Bank or any other organization previously, nor be currently pursuing it.
- Candidates with one or more years of job experience after completing their educational qualification are not eligible.
- Required certificates (Caste, Income & Asset, Disability) must be submitted in the prescribed Government of India format. OBC certificates must specifically include the non-creamy layer clause.
Reservation
Reservation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD categories will be as per the prescribed reservation percentages of the respective States/UTs and Government guidelines.
Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
Under section 34 of “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”, persons with benchmark disabilities are eligible.
- Benchmark disability means a person with not less than 40% of a specified disability.
- Reservation is applicable only for persons with irreversible permanent disability.
- Categories of disabilities include:
- Visual Impairment (“VI" Category): Blindness, Low Vision.
- Hearing Impaired (“HI” Category): Deaf, Hard of Hearing.
- Orthopedically Challenged/ Locomotor Disability (“OC” / “LD”) Category): Leprosy cured person, Cerebral palsy, Dwarfism, Muscular dystrophy, Acid attack victims.
- Intellectual Disability (“ID” Category): Autism Spectrum disorder, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness.
- Multiple Disabilities: Combination of “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” categories.
Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
- Persons not covered under SC/ST/OBC, with a gross annual family income below Rs. 8.00 lakh (Rupees eight lakh only) are identified as EWS.
- Exclusions based on assets include 5 acres of agricultural land and above, residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above, residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities, or 200 sq. yards and above in other areas.
- Benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.
Other Terms and Conditions
Period of Apprenticeship Training
Place of Training
- On-the-job training will be imparted at select branches as per course/curriculum.
Profile of Apprentice
- Apprentices will NOT be treated as "employees" of Canara Bank and will not be entitled to any employee benefits.
Contract of Apprenticeship
- Suitable candidates will be issued a digital apprenticeship contract through the Apprenticeship portal www.nats.education.gov.in. Candidates must accept it on the NATS portal. Engagement is subject to the contract being approved in the NATS portal.
Stipend
- A monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000/- (including Government subsidy) will be paid.
- Canara Bank will pay Rs. 10,500/- monthly.
- Government share of Rs. 4,500/- will be directly credited to the Apprentices' Bank account through DBT mode.
- Apprentices are not eligible for any other allowances/benefits.
Hours of Work & Overtime
- On-Job-Training (OJT) during hours applicable to the clerical cadre.
- Overtime is generally not allowed without the Apprenticeship Adviser's approval.
Leave & Holidays
- Leave: 12 Casual Leaves per year (accrued at 1 per month), maximum 4 at a time. No other leave type is applicable.
- Holidays: Entitled to such holidays as observed in the Bank.
Conduct and Discipline
- Bank reserves the right to terminate the contract in case of misconduct. Apprentices are prohibited from joining/forming any union body.
Termination of Apprenticeship Contract
- The contract terminates upon expiry, or may be terminated by either party with application to the Apprenticeship Adviser.
- Termination may also occur if the apprentice fails to report or is involved in misbehavior/unsatisfactory performance (with 7 days' notice).
Certificate
- After completion of training, NATS-joint certification will be awarded.
Other Information
- Labour laws (PF, ESI, Bonus) are not applicable.
- Bank has no obligation to offer regular employment.
- A State-category wise wait list will be maintained for one year.
Registration Process
- Eligible candidates must first register on the Apprenticeship portal www.nats.education.gov.in and obtain an enrollment number.
- With a 100% complete profile on NATS, candidates can then apply for Apprentices in Canara Bank.
Selection Process
- A merit list will be prepared State-wise based on marks/percentage obtained in the 12th Std (HSC/10+2)/ Diploma Examination. In case of a tie, older candidates will be ranked higher.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) in 12th Std/Diploma.
- CGPA/OGPA must be converted to percentage as per Board/University norms.
- Final selection is subject to:
- Verification of eligibility and information furnished in the online application.
- Qualification in the test of local language (where applicable).
- Being declared medically fit.
- Document Verification and the local language test will be conducted during the Document Verification process.

- SC/ST/PwBD: NIL
- All Others: Rs. 500/- (inclusive of intimation charges)
How to Apply
- Candidates must apply online through the link provided on the Bank's website: www.canarabank.bank.in → Careers → Recruitment → Engagement of Graduate Apprentices in Canara Bank under Apprentices Act, 1961 for FY 2025-26. No other mode of application will be accepted.
- Applicants must mention their NATS enrollment ID when applying.
Pre-Requisites for Applying Online (Scanning Documents)
Candidates must scan and upload the following:
- Photograph: Passport-style color picture (4.5cm × 3.5cm), between 20kb-50kb. Light-colored/white background, relaxed face, no red-eye.
- Signature: Black ink on white paper, 140 x 60 pixels, between 10kb-20kb. Must not be in CAPITAL LETTERS.
- Left Thumb Impression: Black or blue ink on white paper, 240 x 240 pixels (3cm x 3cm), between 20KB-50KB. If left thumb is missing, use right thumb or other fingers/toe as specified in the document.
- Handwritten Declaration: In English, clearly written in black ink on white paper, 800 x 400 pixels (10cm x 5cm), between 50KB-100KB. The text is: "I, (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.” Must not be in CAPITAL LETTERS.
Procedure for Online Application
- Register by clicking "CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION", generating a provisional registration number and password.
- Upload scanned photograph and signature as per specifications.
- Fill in all details carefully; no changes are allowed after "FINAL SUBMIT".
- Make online payment of fees using Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets.
- After successful transaction, an e-receipt will be generated. Take a printout of the e-receipt and online application form for future reference.
List of Documents to be Produced at the Time of Engagement
Candidates must invariably submit the following documents in original along with a self-attested photocopy for verification at the time of engagement:
- Valid system generated printout of the online application.
- Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate or SSLC/Std. X Certificate).
- Photo ID card (Passport/Aadhar Card/PAN Card/Voter ID/Driving License or any other Statutory Authority issued Photo ID).
- Mark Sheets/Certificates from SSC examination onwards, including individual semester/year wise mark sheets and the final degree certificate.
- Income and Asset Certificate (for EWS category).
- Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC categories), specifically with the non-creamy layer clause for OBC.
- Disability Certificate (for PwBD category) issued by the District Medical Board.
- Certificate from the District Magistrate for persons affected by 1984 riots (if applicable).
- Any other relevant eligibility documents.

- Candidates should exercise utmost care in furnishing details in the application.
