Examination Centres & Application Form
Requests for changes to examination centres will not be considered after submission. Candidates must carefully select and correctly indicate their preferred centres in the Online Application Form. The Commission aims to accommodate all candidates in their chosen centres but reserves the right to add new centres, cancel existing ones, or divert candidates to alternative centres.
Scheme of Examination/Mode of Recruitment
The selection process comprises the following compulsory tests:
- Computer Based Examination (CBE): Conducted by SSC, carrying 100 marks.
- Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests (PE&MT): Conducted by Delhi Police, qualifying in nature.
- Trade Test: Conducted by Delhi Police, qualifying in nature. This includes:
- English Word Processing Speed Test: 1000 key depressions in 15 minutes. Conducted in English.
- Basic Computer Functions Test: Covering tasks like opening/closing PC, printing, MS office usage, saving & modification of typed text, paragraph setting & numbering.
Computer Based Examination (CBE) Details
- Duration: One and a half hours (90 minutes).
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Language: Question paper will be in HINDI and ENGLISH only.
- Format: One objective-type multiple-choice paper with 100 questions carrying 100 marks. The composition is as follows:

Note: The level/standard of the Question Paper will be 12th level.
General Examination Provisions
- The examination schedule is tentative, and any changes will be communicated via the Commission's website.
- There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of examination marks.
- Marks scored in CBE (if conducted in multiple shifts) will be normalized using the procedure published by the Commission vide Notice dated 02-06-2025. Normalized scores will determine final merit and cut-off marks.
- Tentative Answer Keys will be available on the Commission's website. Candidates can submit online representations against the answer keys within a specified time limit, upon payment of ₹50/- per question (non-refundable). No other modalities for representations will be entertained.
- Final Answer Keys and marks will be released after the declaration of CBE results.
- The Commission will conduct a comprehensive post-examination analysis (log analysis, photo/biometric verification, CCTV footage review) to ensure integrity. Malpractice will lead to strict action, including cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations.
Indicative Syllabus for the Computer Based Examination
- General Awareness: Questions to test general awareness of the environment, current events, and scientific aspects of everyday observation. Includes questions on History, Culture, Geography, Indian Economy, General Polity, Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research, not requiring specialized study.
- General Science:
- Physics: Thermodynamics, mechanics, Newton's Laws, Gravity, Motion, Pressure, Units, Sound, Heat & Temperature, Electronics, Magnetism, Ohm's Law, Number systems, Fiber Optics, Mode of Communication.
- Chemistry: Everyday life chemistry, commonly used chemicals, catalysts, reactions, commercial applications, physical/chemical change, Acids, Atomic Number, Elements, Electro Chemistry.
- Mathematics: Number systems, Ratio & Proportion, Percentages, Averages, Simple & Compound Interest, Profit, Loss & Discount, Time, Distance & Work, Algebra (Equations, Surds, Indices, Graphs), Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Data Interpretation, Sequence & Series, Permutation & Combination, Simplification.
- Reasoning: Non-Verbal Reasoning (figures), Analogy, Alphanumeric Series, Number Series, Critical Thinking, Coding/Decoding, Logical Reasoning, Input-Output, Blood Relations, Syllogisms, Table, Directions/Ranking Test, Venn Diagrams, Seating Arrangement, Coded Inequalities, Data Sufficiency.
- Computer Fundamentals, MS Excel, MS Word, Communication, Internet, WWW and Web Browsers etc.: This paper includes questions on:
- Elements of Word Processing: Basics, Opening/closing Documents, Text Creation, Formatting, Presentation features.
- MS Excel: Elements of Spreadsheets, Editing Cells, Functions, Formulas.
- Communication: Basics of E-mail, Sending/receiving emails, related functions.
- Internet, WWW and Web Browsers: Services on Internet, URL, HTTP, FTP, Websites, Blogs, Web Browsing Software, Search Engines, Chat, Video conferencing, e-Banking.
Declaration of CBE Result for PE&MT
- The result of the CBE will be declared by SSC. Candidates within the merit range, equal to twenty (20) times the number of vacancies in each category (General/SC/ST/OBC/EWSs, Ex-servicemen), will be called for PE&MT. If there are many candidates on the cutoff marks, all will be called.
- Minimum qualifying marks in CBE:
- General/EWS Category: 40% marks
- SC/ST/OBC candidates: 35% marks
- Ex-servicemen: 30% marks in aggregate

Note 1: Qualifiers in the race are eligible for Long Jump and High Jump. These must be cleared in any one of three chances. No appeal against disqualification.
Note 2: Female candidates who are pregnant, have given birth, or had a miscarriage during the period preceding PE&MT are not allowed to participate and will be declared temporarily unfit until confinement is over. Their results will be kept in a sealed cover, and vacancies reserved.
Note 2.1: Such female candidates will be re-examined for PET six weeks after confinement, upon production of a medical fitness certificate. Confinement period: 6 months from delivery, 45 days from miscarriage.
Note 2.2: If declared qualified after PE&MT, her result will be as per merit, and she will be appointed to the reserved post with seniority benefits.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
PMT will only be taken for candidates who qualify the Endurance Tests. Standards are as follows:
A) For Male Candidates
- Height: 170 cms. Relaxable by 5 cms for:
- Residents of hill areas (Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh & Ladakh regions of J&K) – Hill area certificate required.
- Sons of serving, retired, or deceased Delhi Police Personnel / Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police.
- Chest: Minimum 81 cms - 85 cms (with minimum 4 cms expansion). Relaxable by 5 cms for:
- Residents of hill areas (certificate required).
- Sons of serving, retired, or deceased Delhi Police Personnel/Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police.
B) For Female Candidates
- Height: 157 cms. Relaxable by 5 cms for:
- Residents of hill areas (Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh & Ladakh regions of J&K) – Hill area certificate required.
- Daughters of serving, retired, or deceased Delhi Police Personnel / Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police.
Medical Standard
- Candidates must be of sound health, free from disease, defect, or deformity.
- Eyesight: Better eye 6/6 without glasses. Worse eye 6/36 corrected with glasses 6/9 or 6/12 (both eyes). Candidates must be free from colour blindness.
Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE&MT) Administration
- Only CBE-qualified candidates will be called for PE&MT.
- PE&MT will be conducted at three centres: Delhi Police Academy Campus/Wazirabad, Delhi Police Academy Campus-II/Jharoda Kalan, and New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, Delhi.
- Candidates must report to the Holding Area for photograph verification against their Admit Card to prevent impersonation. A chest number will be allotted, and batches will be prepared for the racing event.
- RFID Tags will be used for tracking in the race.
- Height and Chest measurements will be taken using digital equipment.
- Original documents/certificates (age, education, SC/ST/OBC/EWS, Hill areas, NOC/Discharge Certificate for Ex-Servicemen, sports certificate, wards certificate for Delhi Police personnel) will be checked only for candidates who successfully qualify all PE&MT events (Race, Long/High jump, and Physical Measurement). Self-attested copies of all documents are required.
- Failure to produce required documents during PE&MT will lead to candidature rejection, though candidates may be given 5 working days to submit them. Re-consideration will be on merit after submission.
- Qualified/Disqualified slips will be issued to each candidate, clearly stating reasons for disqualification/rejection.
- Note: If a candidate has previously participated in PE&MT for this examination and was disqualified in any event (Race, High Jump, or Long Jump), that result is final. Any attempt to reappear by concealing prior disqualification will result in the original disqualification prevailing.
Appellate Board for Physical Measurement Tests
An Appellate Board, comprising a Joint Commissioner of Police/Addl. Commissioner of Police and other officers, will be constituted by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, at each venue to consider appeals against physical measurements (Height and Chest) and conduct re-measurement on the same day.
Trade Test (Qualifying)
- Candidates qualified in PE&MT will be called for the Trade Test, which is compulsory. Failure to appear or pass will lead to disqualification.
- Reading & Dictation Test: Assesses capability to transmit and receive messages. Dictation will be given in Hindi and English. Candidates with more than 50% mistakes in either Hindi or English dictation will be disqualified. The reading test will be videographed.
- An Appellate Board will consider appeals related to the Trade Test.
Test of Proficiency in Computer Operation (Qualifying)
All candidates who qualify the Trade Test (Reading & Dictation) must appear for this qualifying test, which includes:
(i) English Word Processing Speed Test
- Requirement: 1000 key depressions in 15 minutes, based on a 200-word printed passage in English.
- Evaluation Procedure:
- Total Strokes/5 = Words.
- Total words/time of Test = 200 words/15 minutes.
- Mistakes: One word for each mistake, including omissions, substitutions, addition of punctuation, wrong typing of 'letter' (case), extra/less gaps, and not making paragraphs.
- Disqualification: Candidates making 25 or more mistakes will be disqualified.
(ii) Test of Basic Computer Functions
This test covers tasks like Opening/Closing of PC, Printing, MS office usage, saving & modification in typed text, paragraph setting & numbering. Specific formatting features tested (each for 5 minutes) include:
- MS-Word: Underline, different font types, inserting paragraph numbers, bold text, different font sizes, page numbering, drawing/inserting tables, bullets/numbering, change case, setting paragraphs.
- MS-PowerPoint: Use text box, insert chart, insert text with WordArt, background style, design slide, insert clipart, slide numbering, insert picture, bullets/numbering, alignment of text.
- MS-Excel: Merge cell, centre a text, centre align as text, insert shapes, font size, font style, font colour, bold a text, underline a text, italics.
Grading: 10 formatting features are tested in each section, with 0.5 marks per feature. A minimum of 3 marks in each test is required to qualify. Candidates will have 5 minutes per test to format and print the supplied handout.
Resolution of Tie Cases
In cases where more than one candidate secures the same aggregate marks, ties will be resolved by applying the following methods in order:
- Preference will be given to the older candidate.
- If the date of birth and marks in the Computer Based Examination are also the same, the alphabetical order of the candidates' first names will decide the case.
