Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the Direct Recruitment of Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade) (General Central Service, Group C, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial) in Gujarat Circle, Ahmedabad, Department of Posts.
Scale of Pay
- Post: Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade)
- Scale of Pay: Rs 19,900 - Rs 63,200 in Level-2 as per Pay Matrix specified in Part A of schedule of CCS (Revised Pay) Rules 2016 plus admissible allowances. [Pre-revised scale: Rs 5200-20200 (Pay Band-1) + Grade Pay Rs 1900].

Note: Vacancy for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) will be filled up from any category and adjusted horizontally.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 19.01.2026)
- General: Between 18 to 27 years.
- Age Relaxation:
- OBC: Up to 3 years
- SC/ST: Up to 5 years
- Government Servant: Up to 40 years
- Ex-servicemen: Up to 3 years after deducting military service rendered.
Educational and Other Qualifications
- Possession of a valid driving license for light & heavy motor vehicles.
- Knowledge of Motor mechanism (The candidate should be able to remove minor defects in the vehicle).
- Experience of driving Light & Heavy motor vehicles for at least three years.
- Pass in 10th standard from a recognized Board or Institute.
- Desirable Qualification: Three years' service as a Home Guard or Civil Volunteer.
Selection Process
The selection will be based on a two-stage examination process:
Stage-I: Theory Test (80 Marks)
- Type: Multiple Choice Questions
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Language: English, Hindi & Gujarati
- Syllabus: General Knowledge, Simple Arithmetic, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Motor Mechanism and Traffic Rules, signals and regulation.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- Others: 40%
- OBC and EWS: 37%
- SC/ST: 33%
Stage-II: Practical Test (20 Marks)
- This stage tests the knowledge of Motor Mechanism and Driving skills. It consists of two papers of 10 marks each.
Final merit list will be prepared based on the total marks secured in both stages of the examination.
Application Fee
- Fee: Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only).
- Payment Mode: e-payment at any computerized post office in India using the provided Challan Form (E Biller ID 1000099011).
- Exemption: All female applicants and SC/ST applicants are exempted from payment of fees.
- Last Date for Fee Payment: 19.01.2026.

- The envelope must be superscribed as "APPLICATION FOR RECRUITMENT TO THE POST OF STAFF CAR DRIVER (ORDINARY GRADE) IN GUJARAT CIRCLE, AHMEDABAD".
- Applications, along with all required self-attested documents, should be sent only through SPEED POST / REGISTERED POST.
