Important Information

  6. Paid correction window (fee ₹500): From 28/12/2025 at 12:00 PM to 30/12/2025 at 11:59 PM. This is a one-time paid correction.
    • During paid correction, candidates can correct entries related to gender, date of birth, category, domicile, disability, and ex-servicemen status.
    • If a candidate's category is changed from reserved to unreserved, the difference in fees must be paid in addition to the correction fee.
    • After the paid correction period, any application will be automatically rejected. Refer to the detailed notification dated 03/07/2023 available on the commission's website.

Vacancy Details

Applications are invited from Indian citizens and recognized categories by the Government of India for direct recruitment to Assistant Professor posts in various subjects under the Medical Education Department, Government of Chhattisgarh.

Total Posts: 125

Pay Matrix: Academic Level – 18 A (Pay Band ₹15600-39100, Grade Pay ₹7000).

Post-wise Vacancy Distribution (Summary): The total 125 posts are distributed across various specialties like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology/Blood Bank, Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Anaesthesiology, Radiology, and many super-specialties. Reservations apply to Unreserved, SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), women (Chhattisgarh domicile), and PwBD (Chhattisgarh domicile - OA/OL category).

General Conditions

  • The selection process will be subject to the final order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in S.L.P.(C) No. 19668/2022. The number of vacancies may change based on revised requisitions from the department.
  • Reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Women, and Ex-servicemen will be as per Government of Chhattisgarh rules.
  • Only local residents of Chhattisgarh belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (OA/OL category) will be eligible. Other disabled candidates are not eligible for these posts.
  • Reservations mentioned in column 4, 5, and 6 of the vacancy table are for SC, ST, and OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates of Chhattisgarh. Columns 7, 8, 9, and 10 are reserved for local women candidates of Chhattisgarh. Column 11 is reserved for local PwBD candidates of Chhattisgarh.
  • All other candidates (unreserved of Chhattisgarh and candidates from other states) will be considered under the unreserved category.
  • Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before applying. If found ineligible at any stage, candidature will be cancelled.

Post Description, Pay Scale, Educational Qualification

  • Post Name: Assistant Professor (Medical College)
  • Service Class: Gazetted – Class I
  • Pay Matrix: Academic Level-18 A. In addition, Dearness Allowance and other allowances will be payable as per state government orders.

Essential Academic Qualifications

  • As per the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi, Notification, non-medical teachers may be appointed up to 30% of the total posts in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Pharmacology departments if medical teachers are unavailable. Statisticians in the Community Medicine department should possess qualifications in that particular subject from a recognized University as per requirements in Medical Institutions (Qualification of Faculty) Regulations.
  • Academic Qualifications for Faculty in Medical Broad Specialties, Surgical Broad Specialties, Medical Super Specialties & Surgical Super Specialties are detailed in "Table A" of the notification, listing specific M.D./M.S./DNB/MSc/MPH/DM/MCh/DrNB degrees required for each specialty.
  • Candidates must have a live registration with the State Medical Council/Medical Council of India/National Medical Commission for the relevant specialty.

Experience, Research and Other Requirements

For M.D. and M.S. Degree Holders (Table B):

  1. Assistant Professor:
    • One year as Senior Resident in the concerned subject in a recognized medical institution as per NMC Norms.
    • Note 1: Experience gained by a Tutor/Demonstrator with a postgraduate degree in a medical institution of their specialty shall be considered equivalent to the experience required as a Senior Resident for eligibility for Assistant Professor.
    • Note 2: Experience gained by a Demonstrator with an MSc and PhD degree in a medical institution of their specialty shall be considered equivalent to the experience required as a Senior Resident for eligibility for Assistant Professor.
    • Specialist Medical Officers of the Armed Forces must have at least one year of teaching experience or two years of clinical experience after obtaining the requisite postgraduate qualification.
    • Non-teaching Consultant/Specialist/Medical Officer with a postgraduate medical degree and at least two years of experience in a government hospital (with at least 220 beds) shall be eligible to become an Assistant Professor in that broad specialty without the Senior Resident experience requirement, provided they complete the Basic Course in Biomedical Research within two years of appointment.
    • Diploma holders appointed as Senior Residents in a recognized medical institution before 08/06/2017 must have a total experience of four years as Senior Resident.
    • Diploma holders working as Specialists or Medical Officers in relevant departments of a government medical institution or NBE/Medical Science recognized teaching program must have six years of cumulative experience.

For D.M. and M.Ch. Degree Holders (Table C):

  1. Assistant Professor:
    • Must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from a recognized medical institution designated by the commission.

Age Limit

  • Age Calculation Date: 01/01/2025.
  • General Age Limit: 25 to 30 years.
  • Relaxation for Chhattisgarh Domiciles: Max 35 years + 5 years relaxation (for educated unemployed) = 40 years. This 5-year relaxation period is extended from 01/01/2024 to 31/12/2028.
  • Further Relaxations (Combined maximum age not exceeding 45 years):
    • Chhattisgarh SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer): 5 years.
    • Chhattisgarh Government (Permanent/Temporary/Work-charge/Contingency Paid) Employees: Max age 38 years.
    • Retrenched Government Servants: Service period reduced from age, maximum 7 years, but net age not more than 3 years above upper limit.
    • Ex-Servicemen: Military service period reduced from age, but net age not more than 3 years above upper limit.
    • Female Chhattisgarh Domiciles: 10 years.
    • Voluntary Home Guard/Unappointed Officers: Service period reduced from age (max 8 years), but net age not more than 38 years.
    • Chhattisgarh Widow, Divorced, Abandoned Women: 5 years.
    • Inter-caste Marriage (Awarded Couples): 5 years for general category partner.
    • Awarded Sportspersons (Rajiv Pandey, Gundadhur, Maharaja Praveer Chandra Bhanjdeo) and National Youth Awardees: 5 years.
    • Contract Employees in Government Service: Number of years served on contract reduced from age, max age 38 years.
    • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 5 years.
    • Shiksha Karmi/Panchayat Karmi: Years of service reduced from age, max age 45 years.
  • Reservation benefits and age relaxation are applicable only to permanent residents/domiciles of Chhattisgarh.

No Objection Certificate (NOC)

  • Candidates currently employed in Government/PSU/Bank/University (Central or State) may apply online. However, they must arrange to send a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer directly to the commission if called for an interview.
  • Failure to submit NOC may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Criminal Prosecution

  • Candidates found guilty of criminal prosecution for actions such as impersonation, submitting false documents, using unfair means, or misbehavior during the exam/interview will be disqualified. This may result in cancellation of candidature, debarment from future examinations, and disciplinary action if already in service.

Disqualification

  • Having more than one living spouse.
  • Not being medically and physically fit for the service.
  • Convicted for a crime against women (cases pending will be considered provisionally).
  • Married before the minimum legal age.

Selection Process

  • If a large number of applications are received, selection will be based on an examination and interview, or an interview only.
  • The examination scheme and syllabus will be published later.
  • The examination center will be Raipur.
  • If direct interview is conducted, it will be for 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are 33% (23% for SC/ST/OBC).

Application Fee

  • For Chhattisgarh domiciled SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and PwBD candidates: ₹300.
  • For all other categories and candidates from outside Chhattisgarh: ₹400.
  • Portal fees + GST will be applicable for all candidates.
  • Fee Refund: Chhattisgarh domiciles who appear in the written exam/interview can apply for a fee refund via their dashboard within 10 days after the exam/interview. Only the application fee (not portal fee or GST) will be refunded. Refunds will be processed to the bank account provided.
  • Candidates can apply for multiple posts/subjects, but must pay the applicable fee for each.

Paid Correction of Application

  • After the free correction period, one paid correction is allowed for specific fields (gender, date of birth, category, domicile, disability, ex-servicemen status) for a fee of ₹500.
  • If category is changed from reserved to unreserved, the difference in fees must be paid.
  • No further corrections will be allowed after the paid correction.
  • The data after paid correction will be considered final for verification during document scrutiny.
  • The correction process is entirely online.

Examination Related

  • There is no provision for re-totaling or re-evaluation of marks in the examination system.

Travel Allowance (TA)

  • Chhattisgarh domiciled SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) unemployed candidates who appear for the exam/interview will be reimbursed actual ordinary class ticket fare for travel to the exam center.
  • TA will be paid only to candidates who are issued a TA voucher by the commission, are not in government/semi-government service, and have no other source of income.
  • TA will be for travel to the nearest exam center in the candidate's home district.

Important Instructions

  • All information and updates regarding the advertisement will be published on the commission's website (www.psc.cg.gov.in). Candidates are advised to regularly check the website. No individual communication will be sent.
  • The final model answer key will be published after resolving objections.
  • The commission's decision on the interpretation of the terms, conditions, and instructions in this advertisement will be final and binding.

Online Application Instructions (Appendix-One)

  • Website: www.psc.cg.gov.in.
  • Registration: Existing users can log in. New users must register by providing name, father's name, mother's name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and ID proof. An OTP will be sent for verification.
  • Photo Capture: Candidates must capture a live photo using their mobile camera. Ensure the face is clear, both ears are visible, eyes are open, and the background is light-colored. The face should occupy approximately 80% of the screen. Re-capture if needed, then Verify & Upload.
  • Signature Upload: Scan a signature made with a black ballpoint pen on white paper (JPG format, max 100 KB). Ensure only the signature is scanned, without any background.
  • After successful photo and signature upload, click 'Save' and then 'Apply' for the desired post.
  • Login ID and password will be sent to the registered email ID for future use.
  • Fee Payment: Use available online payment options (Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI). Print the payment receipt. Ensure application status is "Submitted" and payment status is "Paid".
  • Keep registration ID, password, and application/payment receipt safe. Do not change mobile/email until the selection process is complete.
  • The responsibility for the accuracy of information and completeness of the application rests solely with the applicant. The commission is not responsible for errors made by cyber cafes or other entities.
  • Do not send printed applications or drafts by post.

Admit Card/Interview Letter

  • Admit cards will be uploaded approximately 10 days before the exam/interview. No separate notification will be sent.
  • Admit cards will only be available on www.psc.cg.gov.in. No postal mail.
  • Candidates must carry the admit card and original photo ID (Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, or e-Aadhaar Card) to the exam center. Entry may be denied without it.
  • If the photo or signature on the admit card is unclear or invalid, candidates may be barred from the exam/interview if they fail to follow instructions.
