State Bank of India invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for appointment to Specialist Cadre Officers posts on a contractual basis. Candidates are requested to apply Online through the link provided.

Assistant Data Protection Officer

Eligibility Criteria (as on 2025-08-01)

Educational Qualification

  • Education Qualification: Graduation or Equivalent.
  • Compulsory Professional Qualification: Certification in any one or more Privacy Professional certifications like CIPP-E / CIPP-A / CIPM / DCPP / DCPLA / DCDPO valid as on cutoff date.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in FIP / CIPT / CISM / CISA / ISO 27001 valid as on cutoff date.

Post-Qualification Experience

  • Mandatory: Minimum 10 years of work experience at executive/managerial role in corporate sector with a minimum of 1 year experience in Data Privacy Laws & Regulation and other Data Security areas (within overall experience of 10 years).
  • Preference: Will be given to candidates having higher experience in Data Privacy Laws & Regulation and other Data security areas.

Specific Skills Required

  • Specific knowledge in Data Privacy Regulations underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and/or personal self-development.
  • Expert knowledge of data privacy laws and practices, including General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), UK Data Protection Act 2018, India's DPDP Act 2023 etc.
  • Knowledge of information lifecycle, risk management & data security areas.
  • Extensive knowledge of Information Governance disciplines.
  • Skill of interpretation of national guidance and legislation and subsequent local implementation.
  • Training delivery.
  • Capacities to work with cross-functional teams, attention to details, organizational skills and multitasking.
  • Ability to drive large change management program within organizations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner.
  • Able to communicate across all organizational boundaries in an appropriate manner.
  • Strong management, motivational and leadership skills.

Job Profile / Key Responsibility Areas

The Official will assist the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in the following areas:

  • Ensuring bank's compliance with data protection and privacy legislation of India and other applicable laws.
  • Developing and managing the Bank's data protection strategy in India, including the development and implementation of bank's data protection policy and procedures.
  • Undertaking periodic data protection audits or reviews.
  • Providing advice where DPIA has to be carried out and periodic review of the same.
  • Submission of reports on data privacy laws to the top management/Board.
  • Reviewing records of processing operations (Personally Identified Information (PII) & Data Inflow Diagram (DFD)).
  • Collaboration with supporting functions (Legal, IT & InfoSec etc.).
  • Providing education, training and awareness to all members of staff on data protection legislation.
  • Advising in the development of new IT systems and procedures, drafting data protection notices, obtaining consent from data subjects, and operating the HR function.
  • Assisting with data subject access requests.
  • Advising on, and assisting with, management of any data breaches and liaising with the Supervisory Authority.
  • Ensuring SBI's Compliance to privacy regulations.
  • Relevant and timely updates on Data Protection matters to senior management.
  • Deployment of policies, procedures, communications, and training.
  • Discussions with Operational Risk.
  • Review of Data flows and data inventories.
  • Periodic review of Data Privacy Impact Assessment.
  • Timely, robust responses to authority, data principal etc.

Remuneration & Contract Details

  • CTC Upper Range: Max. Rs.45.00 Lakhs CTC per annum (negotiable based on experience, current emoluments & place of posting).
  • Variable Pay / Performance Linked Pay (PLP): Eligible for Performance Linked Pay and Annual Increment based on performance rating as per Bank's Policy.
  • Bifurcation Ratio of Annual CTC (Maximum Limit):
    • Fixed Pay: 70% of CTC
    • Performance Linked Variable Pay: 30% of CTC
    • Annual Increment Band: An increment of 10% p.a. on previous year total CTC from 2nd year, subject to fulfillment of Bank conditions.
  • Variable pay will be released on a yearly basis, based on achievement of scores in KRA:
    • 95.01 to 100%: 100%
    • 90.01 to 95%: 95%
    • 85.01 - 90%: 90%
    • 80.01 to 85%: 85%
    • 75 to 80%: 75%
    • Below 75%: NIL

Selection Process

The selection will be based on shortlisting, interview, and subsequent CTC negotiations.

  • Shortlisting: The Shortlisting Committee will decide the parameters. Mere fulfillment of minimum qualification and experience does not guarantee an interview call.
  • Interview: Will carry 100 marks. Qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank. No correspondence will be entertained.
  • Merit List: Prepared in descending order based on interview scores. In case of same marks, candidates will be ranked according to their age (descending order).
  • CTC Negotiation: For the post of ADPO, CTC negotiation will be done with candidates at the time of interview.

Other Terms and Conditions

  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory Medical Examination and verification of testimonials.
  • The Officer will not take up any assignment with any other organization during the contract period.
  • The engagement is not construed as employment and officials are not eligible for Provident Fund, Bonus, Gratuity, Pension, or SBI Pension Fund/Defined Contribution Pension Scheme.
  • Assistant Data Protection Officer will not exercise administrative and financial power during their engagement.
  • CIBIL: Candidates who have defaulted in repayment under any lending arrangement or have adverse CIBIL reports are not eligible. Regularization of outstanding amounts before the offer letter issuance date or production of NOCs is required if CIBIL status is not updated.
  • Transfer Policy: The Bank reserves the right to transfer services of Officers Engaged on Contract (OECs) to any of its offices/associates/subsidiaries. Requests for specific posting/transfer will not be entertained.
  • Candidates serving in Govt./Quasi Govt. offices, Public Sector Undertakings, including Nationalized Banks and Financial Institutions, and SBI Group companies, must submit a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) at the time of interview.
  • The Bank reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process entirely at any stage.

Guidelines for Uploading Documents
