The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2026. This examination is for the recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

The tentative number of vacancies for the examination is as follows:

Note: The number of vacancies is subject to alteration. 10% of the total vacancies are earmarked for Ex-servicemen.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India. Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan are also eligible.

Age Limits

  • A candidate must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years as on 1st August, 2026.
  • He/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 2001 and not later than 1st August, 2006.
  • Age Relaxation: Applicable for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), and other categories as per government rules.

Educational Qualification

A candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University.

Application Fee

  • Amount: ₹200 (Rupees Two Hundred only).
  • Exemption: Female, SC, and ST candidates are exempted from payment of the fee.
  • Payment Mode: Online through Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI.

Selection Procedure

The selection process will consist of the following stages:

  1. Written Examination:
    • Paper-I: General Ability and Intelligence (250 Marks, Objective Type)
    • Paper-II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension (200 Marks, Descriptive)
  2. Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests (PST/PET) and Medical Standards Tests: Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for PST/PET.
  3. Interview/Personality Test: 150 Marks.
  4. Final Merit List: Based on marks obtained in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

Candidates are required to apply online by using the website https://upsconline.nic.in. No other mode of application will be accepted. Applicants must complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process before filling out the application form for the examination.
