Overview

Online Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for the Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) - 2024. This test determines eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. programs in Universities and Colleges situated in Jharkhand. The JET Certificate for eligibility for Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission will have lifetime validity.

Mode of Examination

The examination will be conducted in OMR (pen and paper) mode only. The test will consist of two papers, both comprising objective type multiple-choice questions, with no break between papers.

Examination Pattern

Note: Examination fee will be collected through Payment Gateway (Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/Wallet/Bharat QR/UPI) via www.jpsc.gov.in.

Subjects and Syllabus

The list of subjects for JET will be based on the UGC-NET/CSIR-UGC NET syllabus. Appendix-I lists JET subjects, and Appendix-II lists Post Graduation level subjects.

Medium of Question Paper

The question paper will be in English & Hindi only, except for language papers. In case of any ambiguity, the English version shall be treated as final.

Marking Scheme

  • Each question carries 02 (two) marks.
  • For each correct response, candidates will get 02 marks.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect responses.
  • No marks will be given for un-answered/un-attempted questions.
  • If a question is ambiguous or has multiple correct answers, credit will be given only to candidates who attempted the question and chose one of the correct answers.
  • If a question is incorrect and dropped, 2 marks will be awarded only to candidates who attempted the question.

Eligibility Criteria for JET

Qualifying Examination

  • Unreserved/EWS candidates: Must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized university/institution.
  • BC-I/BC-II/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category candidates of Jharkhand state only: Must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master's degree or equivalent.
  • Candidates pursuing their Master's degree or awaiting results may apply provisionally. They must pass with the required percentage within two years from the JET result date.
  • Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination was completed by 19 September 1991 are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%).
  • Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only.
  • Candidates with foreign degrees/diplomas must ascertain their equivalence with Master's degrees from recognized Indian universities through AIU.
  • Candidates are not required to send any certificates/documents or application printouts to JPSC.

Instructions and Reservation Policy

  • The eligibility for Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission depends on the candidate's aggregate performance in all JET papers.
  • The Reservation Policy of the Government of Jharkhand (as amended) is applicable to JET. Candidates must fulfill local residency conditions and upload required certificates.
  • Candidates from other states belonging to SC, ST, Backward Classes (BC-I & BC-II), EWS categories will be treated as Unreserved.
  • Specific formats for Local Resident Certificate, Caste Certificate (SC/ST, BC-I/BC-II - Non-Creamy Layer), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate, Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) Certificate, and Sports Quota Certificate are detailed with issuance dates and authorities. (Refer to Appendix-IV to XIII in the full notification).

Age Limit and Relaxation

There is no upper age limit for applying for JET.

Provisions for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)

  • Reservation: 1% reservation each for Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Locomotive Disability (including Leprosy cured person, cerebral palsy, dwarfism, muscular dystrophy, acid attack victims), Specific Learning Disabilities/Perceptual Disabilities (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia & Developmental Aphasia), and Multiple Disabilities (including deaf blindness).
  • Scribe Facility: PwBD candidates (visually impaired, dyslexic (severe), upper limb disability, lost fingers/hands) may avail a scribe. A compensatory time of one hour for a three-hour examination will be provided. The scribe may be provided by JPSC if requested during online registration.

Registration and Application Process

  • Candidates must apply for JET "Online" only by accessing the JPSC website. Only one application per candidate is permitted.
  • Documents to keep ready for online application: Board/University Certificate (Name, Mother's Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth), Type of Identification (Aadhaar Card), Post Graduation Final Marksheet, Mailing and Permanent Address with Pin Code, Three choices for Examination Centres, JET Subject Code, Residential Certificate (if applicable), Category Certificate (if applicable), EWS Certificate (if applicable), PwBD Certificate (if applicable), Sports Certificate (if applicable), Email address, Mobile Number.
  • Scanned Images to Upload (JPG/PDF):
    • Passport size photograph (10Kb-200Kb JPG): 80% face visible, white background.
    • Candidate's signature (4Kb-30Kb JPG): Full signature in running hand, blue/black ink on white paper.
    • Result Awaited Attestation Form (50Kb-500Kb PDF, if applicable).
    • Category Certificate (50Kb-300Kb PDF, if applicable).
    • Residential Certificate (50Kb-300Kb PDF, if applicable).
    • PwBD Certificate (50Kb-300Kb PDF, if applicable).
    • Sports Certificate (50Kb-300Kb PDF, if applicable).
  • Application Steps:
    1. Fill One Time Registration (OTR) and note the Application Number.
    2. Upload scanned images of photograph and signature.
    3. Apply for JET online application and upload other necessary documents.
    4. Pay the fee using Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI/Net Banking.
    5. Download and print the Confirmation Page after successful payment.
  • Candidates are advised to regularly visit the JPSC website and check emails for updates.
  • Certificates of educational qualification and category will be verified at the time of recruitment.

Examination Centre

JET is primarily planned for Ranchi, Jharkhand, but may be conducted in other cities. Candidates must select three cities of their choice. Changes to the examination centre are not permitted after the correction window closes. JPSC reserves the right to change the centre or date.

Admit Card

Admit Cards will be issued to eligible candidates and uploaded on the JPSC website as per schedule.

Conduct of Examination

  • Candidates must report at the Examination Centre one hour before the commencement of the examination. Entry will close 20 minutes after the examination starts.
  • Documents to bring: Printed Admit Card, one passport size photograph (same as uploaded), original Aadhaar Card (name must match), PwBD certificate (if applicable), and relevant document for name change (if applicable).
  • Prohibited Items: Electronic gadgets, mobile phones, calculators, log tables, wallets, purses, notes, charts, loose sheets, recording instruments are not allowed.
  • Biometric capture (left thumb impression, photo) will be part of the check-in procedure.
  • Candidates must sit only on their allotted seat.

Unfair Means Practices

Strict action will be taken against candidates involved in unfair means, including possession of prohibited items, impersonation, assisting others, writing on unauthorized material, communicating during the exam, threatening officials, manipulation of documents, using electronic devices, affixing wrong photographs/signatures, creating obstacles, or furnishing false information. Consequences may include disqualification, debarment, and criminal prosecution.

Display of Provisional Answer Key for Challenges

JPSC will display a Provisional Answer Key on its website. Candidates can challenge the answer key online by paying Rs. 200/- per question (non-refundable) within the stipulated time. Challenges without justification/evidence will not be considered. JPSC's decision on challenges will be final.

Procedure and Criteria for Declaration of Result

  • The number of qualified candidates (total slots) will be 6% of the candidates appeared in JET.
  • Slots will be allocated to different categories as per Jharkhand's reservation policy.
  • Minimum Aggregate Marks: To qualify, candidates must secure at least 40% aggregate marks in both papers for Unreserved/EWS categories, and at least 35% aggregate marks for SC, ST, BC-I, BC-II, and PwBD categories.
  • The result will be hosted on the JPSC website; individual intimations will not be sent.

Re-Evaluation/Re-Checking

There shall be no re-evaluation/re-checking of results.

Query Redressal System

All queries should be addressed via email from the candidate's registered email ID to jet2024@jpsc.gov.in.

Legal Jurisdiction

All disputes pertaining to JET fall under the jurisdiction of Jharkhand only. Any legal question arising from the examination will be entertained only if raised within 30 days from the declaration of results.
