Assistant Operator Written Exam Syllabus and Recruitment Process

This notice outlines the detailed syllabus and recruitment process for the Assistant Operator position under the Uttar Pradesh Police Radio Subordinate Services Rules-2018 (Third Amendment).

Eligibility Conditions

Marital Status

  • A male candidate who has more than one wife living, or a female candidate who has married a man already having a wife living, shall not be eligible for appointment to the service.
  • However, the State Government may grant exemption from the operation of this rule if it is satisfied that there are special grounds for doing so and that the personal law applicable to such person and the other party to the marriage allows such marriage.

Physical Fitness

  • No candidate shall be appointed until they are certified to be in good mental and bodily health and are free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of their duties.
  • Before final approval for appointment, a candidate will be required to pass a medical examination by a Medical Board.

Recruitment Process

The selection process will be conducted under the provisions of the “Uttar Pradesh Police Radio Subordinate Services Rules-2018 (Third Amendment)”.

Written Examination

Eligible candidates whose applications are found correct will be required to appear in a 400-mark written examination. This examination will be objective-type and comprise the following subjects:

Note on Written Exam:

  • The detailed syllabus for the examination will be notified by the Board. Candidates failing to secure 50% marks in each subject will not be eligible for recruitment.
  • The written examination will be conducted on a single day in a single shift or in multiple shifts/days with different question papers, using an OMR-based system.

1. General Hindi (सामान्य हिन्दी)

  • Hindi and other Indian languages
  • Basic knowledge of Hindi grammar: Hindi alphabet, Tadbhav-Tatsam, Synonyms, Antonyms, Multiple meanings, One word for phrases, Homonymous different words, Correcting incorrect sentences, Gender, Voice, Case, Pronoun, Adjective, Verb, Tense, Voice, Indeclinable, Prefix, Suffix, Sandhi, Samas, Punctuation, Idioms and Proverbs, Rasa, Chhand, Alankar, etc.
  • Unseen passage

2. Science/General Knowledge (विज्ञान/सामान्य ज्ञान)

Science:

  • Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy, and Power, Gravitation, Electrostatics, Electro Potential, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic waves, Electronic Devices, Communication Systems, Ray Optics.

General Knowledge:

  • General Science, History of India, Indian Constitution, Indian Economy and Culture, Indian Agriculture, Commerce and Trade, Population, Environment and Urbanization, Geography of India and World Geography and Natural Resources, Specific information regarding Education, Culture and Social Practices in Uttar Pradesh, Revenue, Police and General Administrative System in Uttar Pradesh, Human Rights, Internal Security and Terrorism, Relations between India and its neighboring countries, Contemporary subjects of National and International importance, National and International Organizations, Demonetization and its impact, Cyber Crime, Goods and Services Tax (GST), Awards and Honors, Country/Capital/Currencies, Important Days, Research and Discovery, Books and their authors, Social Media Communication.

3. Numerical and Mental Ability Test (संख्यात्मक एवं मानसिक योग्यता परीक्षा)

Numerical Ability:

  • Number System, Simplification, Decimals and Fraction, Highest Common Factor and Lowest Common Multiple, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Discount, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Partnership, Average, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Arithmetical computation and other analytical functions, Miscellaneous.

Mental Ability:

  • Logical Diagrams, Symbol Relationship Interpretation, Perception Test, Word Formation Test, Letter and Number Series, Word and Alphabet Analogy, Common Sense Test, Direction Sense Test, Logical Interpretation of Data, Forcefulness of Argument, Determining Implied Meanings.

4. Mental Aptitude Test/IQ Test/Reasoning Test (मानसिक अभिरूचि परीक्षा/बुद्धिलब्धि परीक्षा/तार्किक परीक्षा)

Mental Aptitude Test:

  • Public Interest, Law and Order, Communal Harmony, Crime Control, Rule of Law, Ability to Adapt, Professional Information (basic level), Police System, Contemporary Police Issues and Law & Order, Basic Law, Interest in Profession, Mental Toughness, Sensitivity towards Minorities and Underprivileged, Gender Sensitivity.

IQ Test:

  • Relationship and Analogy Test, Spotting out the dissimilar, Series Completion Test, Coding and Decoding Test, Direction Sense Test, Blood Relation, Problem Based on Alphabet, Time Sequence Test, Venn Diagram and Chart Type Test, Mathematical Ability Test, Arranging in Order.

Reasoning Test:

  • Analogies, Similarities, Differences, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Analysis Judgement, Decision-Making, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship, Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal and Figure Classification, Arithmetical Number Series, Abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships.

General Instructions for Written Examination

  • Examination Duration and Questions: The written examination will have a total duration of 2 hours 30 minutes (150 minutes) and will comprise 160 questions.
  • Examination Mode: The written examination will be conducted on OMR answer sheets. Each question will have four options, and candidates must select one correct option.
  • OMR Answer Sheet: The OMR answer sheet will have three copies: one for scanning, one for Board records, and one for the candidate. If a candidate takes the original copy with them, their candidature will be automatically cancelled.
  • Admit Cards: Admit cards for the written examination will be available on the Board's website (http://uppbpb.gov.in) for candidates to download.
  • Examination Schedule: Information regarding the dates and times of the written examination will be displayed on the Board's website in due course.
  • Language: The question paper for all subjects, except General Hindi, will be bilingual (Hindi and English). In case of any doubt or discrepancy, the English version of the question will be considered final.
  • Answer Key and Objections: After the examination, the Board will publish the answer key and invite online objections from candidates regarding questions and answer options. If any question or its options are found erroneous, such questions will be cancelled, and marks will be distributed according to the formula established by the Hon'ble High Court Allahabad in Writ Petition No. 2669 (MB)/2009 Pawan Kumar Agrahari vs. U.P. Public Service Commission.
  • Multiple Correct Options: If a question has more than one correct option, full marks will be awarded if any one of the correct options is marked. However, no marks will be given if more than one option is marked.
  • Normalization: In the event of the examination being conducted in multiple shifts or on multiple dates with different question papers, the normalization process will be applied to the marks obtained by the candidates as per Rule-15(ख) of "Uttar Pradesh Police Radio Subordinate Services Rules-2015 (as amended)", vide Board's notification no. PRPBP-1(155)/2023 dated 18.12.2023. "Marks" in this context refers to normalized marks. The Board will first normalize the raw marks obtained by candidates in each of the four subjects, and then the final total normalized marks will be calculated by summing the normalized marks of all four subjects.

Document Verification and Physical Standard Test

Candidates declared successful in the written examination will be called for Document Verification (DV) and Physical Standard Test (PST). This stage will be qualifying in nature. The number of candidates called for DV and PST will be determined by the Board based on merit and the number of vacancies.

Document Verification Process:

  • During document verification, candidates' eligibility, age relaxation claims, reservation category (vertical/horizontal) claims, documentary proofs, essential and desirable qualifications, etc., will be verified. Information regarding the schedule for DV and PST will be displayed on the Board's website.
