Important Notes Regarding Apprenticeship

  • The trades and number of seats mentioned are tentative and may change as per ONGC's requirements.
  • A candidate is eligible to apply for a particular work centre only if they are a resident (domicile) of, or have obtained their requisite qualification from, an eligible District against that work centre of ONGC (Refer: Annexure 1).

Reservation

Reservation for various categories such as SC/ST/OBC/PwBD will be provided as per government guidelines.

Age Criteria

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 24 years as on 06.11.2025.
  • Date of Birth: Candidate/Applicant should be born between 06.11.2001 and 06.11.2007.

Concession & Relaxation

  • Upper age is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
  • Candidates belonging to PwBD categories will receive age relaxation up to 10 years, up to 15 years for SC/ST, and up to 13 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates.

Apprenticeship opportunities are available in various trades/disciplines. Below are the trade-wise qualification requirements:

Registration Portals:

  • For trades mentioned at Sl. No. 1 to 29 (NAPS Scheme), candidates must register on the Skill India portal of the Govt of India: https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.
  • For trades mentioned at Sl. No. 30 to 39 (NATS Scheme), candidates must register on the portal of Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT): https://nats.education.gov.in with effect from 17.10.2025.

Important Qualification Notes:

  • Please apply only if you possess the essential minimum qualifications, fulfilling all parameters.
  • Qualifications acquired through distance learning will be accepted if recognized by relevant statutory bodies.
  • Trade Certificates should be from respective ITIs/Technical Institutions recognized by State Board of Technical Education (SBTE)/National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
  • For posts requiring a Trade Certificate in Electrician trade, a Trade Certificate in Wireman trade will not be acceptable.
  • Candidates with B.A / B.Com / B.B.A/ B.E. / B.Tech must possess qualifications recognized by relevant statutory bodies like UGC/AICTE etc.

Duration of Training

12 months for all trades mentioned above.

Stipend

The apprentices are eligible for a monthly stipend as per the Apprentices Act during their engagement period:

  • The trainee is not eligible for any TA-DA/Boarding or Lodging expenses. ONGC will not provide financial assistance for transportation.

Selection Process

  • Selections will be based on merit obtained in the qualifying examination as stipulated in the advertisement.
  • In case of a tie in merit, the person with a higher age will be considered.
  • Canvassing or influencing will lead to rejection of candidature.
  • Reservation policies will be followed as per Government of India Policy for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories.

General Conditions

  1. Candidates are advised to carefully read the full advertisement for details of eligibility criteria and selection modalities.
  2. Candidates should NOT have undergone Apprenticeship earlier or be currently pursuing Apprenticeship Training as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  3. Candidates with training or job experience of one year or more after attaining prescribed qualifications are NOT eligible to be engaged as Technician Apprentice.
  4. The applicant should NOT have completed three years after passing the qualifying examination as on the cut-off date of eligibility, i.e., 06.11.2025. If the result declaration date is not on the mark sheet, a certificate from the Principal of the Polytechnic/College/Institute must be submitted.
  5. ONGC has no obligation to offer regular employment to Apprentices during or after the completion of the apprenticeship period. Upon successful completion, candidates will be relieved.
