This notice, CEN No. 06/2025, announces recruitment for various posts of Non Technical Popular Categories (Graduate) by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates must possess the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for the post(s) on or before the closing date for submitting the online application (2025-11-20). Candidates awaiting final results are NOT eligible.
  • Age Limit (as on 2026-01-01):
    • Lower age limit: Not born after 2008-01-01
    • Upper age limit:
      • UR/EWS: Not born earlier than 1993-01-02
      • OBC-NCL: Not born earlier than 1990-01-02
      • SC/ST: Not born earlier than 1988-01-02
  • Age Relaxation: Applicable for SC/ST (5 years), OBC-NCL (3 years), Ex-servicemen, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), serving Group C & D Railway Staff, Quasi-Administrative offices of the Railway, and widowed/divorced/judicially separated women. Maximum relaxation is granted if eligible on multiple grounds (not cumulative).
  • Nationality/Citizenship: A citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee (pre-1962), or a person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must fulfill the prescribed medical standards for the opted post(s) as detailed in the Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM) Vol. I (Chapter 5). Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery are not eligible for Medical Standard A-2 posts but may be eligible for B-2, C-2 posts under specific conditions.

Examination Fee

  • For all candidates (except those mentioned below): Rs. 500/-. An amount of Rs. 400/- will be refunded upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT.
  • For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities or Economically Backward Class (EBC): Rs. 250/-. The full amount of Rs. 250/- will be refunded upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT.
  • Modes of Payment: ONLINE only through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI. Applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
  • EBC Concession: Economically Backward Class candidates (annual family income less than Rs. 50,000/-) must possess a valid EBC certificate (Annexure IIIA), BPL card, or Izzat MST issued by the Central Government on or before the closing date of application.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process involves the following stages:

  1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Common for all notified posts, screening nature. 90 minutes (120 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates). 100 questions (General Awareness-40, Mathematics-30, General Intelligence and Reasoning-30). Negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer. Normalized score will be used for shortlisting for the 2nd Stage CBT.
    • Minimum qualifying marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC(NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%. (Relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD in case of shortage).
  2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Shortlisting 15 times the community-wise vacancies. 90 minutes (120 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates). 120 questions (General Awareness-50, Mathematics-35, General Intelligence and Reasoning-35). Negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer. Normalized marks will be used for shortlisting for DV or skill tests.
    • Minimum qualifying marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC(NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%. (Relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD in case of shortage).
  3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Applicable only for Station Master / Traffic Assistant posts, after qualifying 2nd Stage CBT. Candidates must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery. No relaxation in T-Score. Shortlisting 8 times vacancies. Vision Certificate (Annexure VII) is mandatory.
    • Merit for SM/TA will be based on 70% weightage from 2nd Stage CBT and 30% from CBAT.
  4. Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST): Applicable for Senior Clerk cum Typist and Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist posts. Qualifying nature (marks not added to merit). Candidates must type 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on a Personal Computer. Exemptions for certain PwBD categories (Annexure V(H)).
  5. Document Verification (DV): Candidates equal to the number of vacancies (1:1) will be called. Original certificates are mandatory. Any discrepancy will lead to rejection.
  6. Medical Examination: Candidates must pass the requisite medical fitness test.

How to Apply

  • Candidates must apply ONLINE only through the links provided on the official RRB websites (listed in Para 16.0 of the detailed CEN).
  • One Application Only: Candidates can choose only one RRB and indicate their preference for Railway Zones / PU and posts/categories within that chosen RRB. Multiple applications to different RRBs or the same RRB will lead to the rejection of all applications.
  • Account Creation: Candidates must first create an account. Details entered during account creation (mobile number, email ID) cannot be modified later. Identity authentication via DigiLocker or Aadhaar is advised.
  • Live Photo Capturing: Candidates are required to capture a live photograph using a webcam or front camera during the application process. Pre-existing photographs are not allowed and will lead to rejection. Guidelines for photo capture (e.g., non-white clothing, camera at eye level, clear face, no cap/mask/glasses) must be followed.
  • Mandatory Scanned Documents: Upload scanned copy of Candidate Signature (JPG/JPEG, 30-49 KB, 140x60 pixels, running handwriting in black ink on white paper) and SC/ST Certificate (PDF, less than 400 KB, for those requesting free travel pass).

Reservation and Concessions

  • Vertical Reservation: Applicable for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) (OBC-NCL) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) as per government rules. Necessary certificates must be furnished during DV.
  • Horizontal Reservation: Provided for Ex-Servicemen (ExSM) and PwBD.
  • Assistance of Scribe: Eligible PwBD candidates (specific categories, those with less than 40% disability but difficulty writing) can avail scribe facility. Candidates must arrange their own scribe and register them on rrbapply.gov.in.
  • Free Train Travel Facility: SC/ST candidates are eligible for a Free Sleeper Class Railway Pass for various stages of selection on request.
