• Indian History: Harappan civilization, Mauryan Empire, Gupta Empire, Harshavardhan, descriptions of social life by travelers from the 11th to 14th century in the subcontinent, Bhakti-Sufi traditions of medieval India, Vijayanagara Empire, Mughal Empire, East India Company and colonialism in India, Revolt of 1857, colonial urbanization and town planning, Mahatma Gandhi and national movement, making of the constitution.
• Integration and reorganization within the country after independence.
• Main features of Indian society, diversity of India.
• Demographics of India and Madhya Pradesh, along with tribes of Madhya Pradesh.
• Role of women and women's organizations, population and related issues, poverty and developmental issues, urbanization, its problems and remedies.
• Impact of globalization on Indian society.

Part "B": Governance, Constitution and Politics, Social Justice and Legislation (150 Marks)

• Indian Constitution: Historical background, evolution, features, amendments, important provisions and basic structure.
• Functions and responsibilities of the Union and States, issues and challenges related to the federal structure, devolution of powers and finances to local levels and challenges therein.
• Separation of powers between various organs, dispute resolution mechanisms and institutions.
• Parliament and State Legislatures: Structure, functioning, conduct of business, powers and privileges and issues arising therefrom.
• Structure, organization and functioning of the Executive and Judiciary - Ministries and Departments of the Government, pressure groups and formal/informal associations and their role in politics.
• Welfare schemes for vulnerable sections of the population by the Centre and States and their performance, mechanisms, laws, institutions and bodies formed for the protection and betterment of these vulnerable sections.
• Issues related to poverty and hunger.

Paper - II: General Studies (300 Marks)

Part "A": Current Affairs, Technology, Economic Development, Environment and Internal Security (150 Marks)

• Current Affairs.
• Science and Technology: Developments and applications and its impact on daily life.
• Information Technology: Awareness of topics related to Space, Computers, Robotics, Nano-Technology, Bio-Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Rights.
• Conservation, environmental pollution and degradation, environmental impact assessment.
• Indian Economy and Planning: Mobilization of resources, progress, development and employment related topics.
• Applications of New Technologies: Information and Communication Technology, Remote Sensing, Space GIS, GPS, Bio-technology, Nano-technology, Policing, Transport, Spatial Planning, Home and Sports etc.
• Conventional and non-conventional energy resources, renewable energy.
• Role of police services in democracy.
• Relationship between development and extremism.
• Role of external and non-state actors posing challenges to internal security.
• Challenges to internal security through communication networks, role of media and social networking sites in internal security challenges, basic principles of cyber security, money laundering and its prevention.
