The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj has released the information booklet for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. This test is a mandatory eligibility criterion for the appointment of teachers for Classes 1 to 8 in the state.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay the fee through the online mode provided on the official website. One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for all applicants.

Eligibility Criteria

For Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5)

Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the final year of:

  • Graduation and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC) from an NCTE recognized institution.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed degree (subject to completing a 6-month bridge course in elementary education after appointment).
  • Intermediate with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Other equivalent qualifications as specified in the official notification.

For Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8)

Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the final year of:

  • Graduation and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC).
  • Graduation/Post-Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed/B.Ed (Special Education).
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and B.Ed, in accordance with the NCTE regulations issued from time to time.
  • Intermediate with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
  • Other equivalent qualifications as specified in the official notification.

Examination Pattern

  • Exam Duration: 2.5 hours (150 minutes) for each paper.
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer. There will be no negative marking.

Qualifying Marks

  • General Category: 60% (90 marks out of 150).
  • Reserved Categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD, etc.): 55% (82 marks out of 150).

Certificate Validity

The UPTET qualifying certificate will be valid for a lifetime from the date of the result declaration. The certificate will be made available through DigiLocker.
