Online applications are invited for the engagement of approximately 90 Law Clerks-cum-Research Associates on a short-term contractual basis in the Supreme Court of India for the assignment term 2026-2027. The engagement offers a consolidated remuneration of ₹1,00,000/- per month.

Essential Qualifications

  1. The candidate must be a Law Graduate with a Bachelor Degree in Law (including Integrated Degree Course in Law) from a university/institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  2. Candidates studying in the fifth year of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course or the third year of the Three-Year Law Course are also eligible to apply, provided they furnish proof of acquiring the Law qualification before taking up the assignment.
  3. The candidate must possess research and analytical skills, writing abilities, and knowledge of computers, including information retrieval from various search engines/processes like e-SCR, Manupatra, SCC Online, etc.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 20 and 32 years of age as of 07.02.2026.

Method of Selection

The selection process will be conducted in three phases:

  • Part I: Multiple Choice Based Questions to test understanding and application of law, and comprehension skills.
  • Part II: Subjective Written Test to assess writing and analytical skills.
  • Part III: Interview.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable Application/Test Fee of ₹750/- plus applicable bank charges through online mode only.

Examination Details

  • Test Centres: The tests will be conducted in 23 cities across India: Ahmedabad, Ambala, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jodhpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, and Visakhapatnam.
  • Exam Mode: Part-I will be conducted in online mode, and Part-II will be a pen-and-paper test with the question paper displayed on the computer screen.
  • Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in Part-I.
