Notification for Engagement of Act Apprentices
This notification is for the engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 over North Western Railway (NWR) for the year 2025-26. Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for training in designated trades across various Workshops/Units within the NWR jurisdiction.

Vacancy Details
A total of 2162 slots are available for Act Apprentices. The distribution of training slots across various Divisions/Units and trades is detailed in the full notification. Divisions/Units include:
- Divisional Railway Manager's Office (Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur)
- B.T.C. Carriage (Ajmer)
- B.T.C. LOCO (Ajmer)
- Carriage Works Shop (Bikaner, Jodhpur)
Eligibility Conditions
- Age Limit (as on 2025-11-02):
- Candidates must have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age.
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years
- OBC candidates: 3 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Up to an additional 10 years, plus 3 years of service rendered (minimum 6 months service required).
- Minimum Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (no rounding off).
- Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the notified trade, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).
- Candidates awaiting results of final exams are not eligible to apply.
Application Fee (Non-refundable)
- For all candidates except SC/ST, Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD), and Women: ₹100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only)
- For SC/ST, Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD), and Women candidates: Nil
The fee payment must be made online through the payment gateway integrated with the online application process on the RRC/Jaipur website.
Mode of Selection
Selection will be based on a merit list prepared from all applicants. The merit list will be calculated based on the simple average of percentage marks in:
- Matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks).
- ITI marks in the relevant trade.
- Tie-breaking criteria:
- Candidates with older age will be preferred.
- If dates of birth are also same, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier will be considered first.
Merit lists will be prepared Division/unit-wise, trade-wise, and community-wise. A centralized merit list will not be formed.
How to Apply
- Candidates are required to apply ONLINE by visiting the RRC/Jaipur website: www.rrcjaipur.in.
- Fill in personal details and BIO DATA carefully.
- Aadhaar Card is mandatory. Candidates must fill in their 12-digit Aadhaar Card number during registration and produce the original at document verification.
- Ensure that your name, father's name, and date of birth exactly match your matriculation or equivalent certificate. Any deviation will lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Maintain an active mobile number and valid e-mail ID as all important messages will be sent via email/SMS.
- Candidates must apply for only one Unit. Submitting multiple applications will lead to the summary rejection of all applications.
- Candidates are advised to submit their online application well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical issues.
Documents to be Uploaded
- Scanned Colour Photograph: Size 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, not older than three months, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, file size between 20 kb and 70 kb. Clear front view without cap and sunglasses. Keep two additional copies for Document Verification.
- Scanned Signature: Size 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, file size between 20 kb and 30 kb.
Medical Fitness
- Candidates must produce a medical certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-IV) signed by a Government Authorized Doctor (Gaz.) not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State Hospital at the time of Document Verification.
- Specific standards of fitness apply, including for Persons with Disability (PwBD). Detailed requirements for various trades are provided in the notification. Only Locomotor Disability or Cerebral Palsy (LD) with at least 40% disability, or Hearing Impairment (HI) with 60 decibels or more hearing loss, are generally eligible.
Important Instructions
- Training in the Railway does not confer any right to absorption in Railway service upon successful completion.
- No correspondence regarding engagement will be entertained. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
- Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility norms at every stage. Erroneous engagement will lead to dismissal without notice.
- Candidature will be cancelled if original testimonials are not produced or if discrepancies are found. Furnishing wrong/fake certificates will lead to immediate discharge.
- No daily allowance, conveyance allowance, or traveling allowance will be paid for Document Verification.
- Candidates are not required to send any application printouts or certificates by post. Candidature will be considered solely based on information provided in the ONLINE application.
- No requests for change of division/unit/trade will be considered after selection.
- Candidates are advised to preserve printouts of their online application for future reference and Document Verification.
