Introduction

Online applications are invited from Indian nationals for Direct Recruitment to the post of Multi-Tasking Staff (General) {MTS(G)} in the following Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

The total number of vacancies is 362 across various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs). Vacancies are provisional and subject to change.

Post Description

  • Name: Multi-Tasking Staff (General) {MTS(G)}
  • Classification: General Central Service, Group 'C' Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial
  • Pay Scale: Level-1 (₹18,000-56,900) in the pay matrix, plus admissible Central Government allowances.
    • Allowances:
      • Special Security Allowance @ 20% of basic pay.
      • Cash compensation in lieu of duty performed on holidays (up to a ceiling of 30 days).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential Qualifications (as on 2025-12-14):
    • Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board.
    • Possession of a domicile certificate of the State against which the candidate has applied.
  • Age Limit (as on 2025-12-14): 18-25 years.
    • Age Relaxation:
      • SC/ST: 5 years
      • OBC: 3 years
      • Departmental candidates: Up to 40 years (with 3 years regular and continuous service).
      • Widows, divorced women, women judicially separated (not remarried): UR-35, OBC-38, SC/ST-40 years.
      • Ex-servicemen: As per Government instructions.
      • Meritorious sportspersons: Up to 5 years (as per Appendix-3 of the advertisement).
      • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): UR-10, OBC-13, SC/ST-15 years.
  • Important Notes on Eligibility:
    • The eligibility of candidates in terms of age, educational qualification, caste/category, etc., will be determined on the closing date (2025-12-14).
    • Candidates must possess the essential qualification, meaning final results must be out on or before 2025-12-14.
    • Reservation for OBC, SC, ST, EWS, ESM, and PwBD is as per rules/roster.
    • Candidates must ensure their OBC certificate is in Central Government format (Appendix-I) and they do not belong to the creamy layer.

Permissible Disabilities for PwBD Candidates

Functional requirements include Sitting (S), Standing (ST), Walking (W), Bending (BN), Reading & Writing (RW), Seeing (SE), Hearing (H), Communication (C).

Suitable categories of Benchmark Disability:

  • (b) D (Deaf), HH (Hard of Hearing)
  • (c) OA (One Arm), BA (Both Arms), OL (One Leg), BL (Both Legs), OAL (One Arm and One Leg), CP (Cerebral Palsy), LC (Leprosy Cured), Dw (Dwarfism), AAV (Acid Attack Victims), MDy (Muscular Dystrophy), SD (Spinal Deformity), SI (Spinal Injury), SD/SI without neurological/limb dysfunction
  • (d) ASD(M) (Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild)), SLD (Specific Learning Disability), MI (Mental Illness)
  • (e) MD (Multiple Disabilities) involving (a) to (d) above.

Service Liability

The post involves All India Transfer liability. Candidates willing to serve anywhere in India should apply.

Scheme of Examination

The selection process involves two tiers:

Tier-I: Online Examination (Objective Type MCQs)

  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Negative Marking: ¼ mark for each wrong answer.
  • Sections:
    • General Awareness: 40 Marks
    • Quantitative Aptitude: 20 Marks
    • Numerical/Analytical/Logical Ability and Reasoning: 20 Marks
    • English Language: 20 Marks

Tier-II: Descriptive Test on English Language and Comprehension

  • Total Marks: 50
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Content: Basics of English Language, vocabulary, correct grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, correct usage, comprehension, and paragraph writing (150 words).
  • Qualifying Nature: Minimum qualifying marks - 20.

Selection Procedure

  • Candidates will appear in Tier-I at an allotted centre.
  • Cut-off Marks in Tier-I (out of 100):
    • UR: 30
    • OBC: 28
    • SC/ST: 25
    • EWS: 30
    • Ex-servicemen and PwBD will be treated in their own category.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-II @ 10 times the number of vacancies, subject to scoring minimum cut-off in Tier-I.
  • Tier-II is qualifying in nature, with 20 marks out of 50.
  • The final merit list will be prepared based on performance in Tier-I, provided the candidate qualifies in Tier-II.
  • Final selection is subject to character and antecedent verification and medical examination.
  • Appointment is temporary initially, with permanent status depending on existing rules.

Resolution of Tie Cases

In case of a tie in Tier-I scores, resolution will be based on:

  1. Date of birth (older candidate preferred).
  2. Alphabetical order of names (starting with the first name).

Provision of Compensatory Time and Assistance of Scribe

  • PwBD candidates in categories of blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected-BA), and cerebral palsy can use their own scribe at their own cost.
  • Other PwBD categories can use their own scribe upon producing a certificate (Appendix-6).
  • PwD candidates with less than 40% disability but with writing difficulty can also avail a scribe.
  • The qualification of the scribe must not be higher than Matriculation. Scribe details and valid ID proof (as per Appendix-7/7a) must be submitted at the time of the exam.
  • A compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination will be provided to candidates allowed a scribe or eligible for a scribe but not availing one.

Important Dates

  • Opening Date for Online Registration: 2025-11-22
  • Closing Date for Application Submission & Online Fee Payment: 2025-12-14 (till 23:59 Hrs)
  • Last Date for Submission of Application Fee through SBI Challan (offline branch): 2025-12-16 (during Banking Hours)

Examination Fee

The fee consists of two components:

  1. Examination Fee: ₹100/-
  2. Recruitment Processing Charges: ₹550/-
  • All candidates: Must pay Recruitment Processing Charges of ₹550/-.
  • Male candidates of UR, EWS, and OBC categories: Must pay Examination Fee (₹100/-) in addition to Recruitment Processing Charges (₹550/-), totaling ₹650/-.
  • Exemptions: SC/ST candidates, female candidates, PwBD, and eligible Ex-Servicemen are exempted from the Examination Fee but must pay the Recruitment Processing Charges of ₹550/-.
  • Ex-servicemen already in civil service must pay both ₹100/- Exam Fee and ₹550/- Recruitment Processing Charges.
  • Banking charges will be borne by the candidate.

How to Apply

  • Applications must be submitted ONLY through ONLINE registration via the MHA's website (www.mha.gov.in) or NCS portal (www.ncs.gov.in). No other mode of application will be accepted.
  • Candidates are advised to register well in time to avoid last-minute rush.
  • Documents to keep ready for online application:
    • Valid e-mail ID and Mobile Number.
    • Scanned passport size colour photograph (100-200KB, JPG/JPEG format, not older than 12 weeks, face covering 70-80%, light background).
    • Scanned signature (80-150KB, JPG/JPEG format, on white paper with black ink pen).
    • Valid photo ID proof issued by Central/State Government.
    • Certificates/Marksheets for Class X, and Class XII/Diploma/Graduation (if acquired).
  • The category once filled in the online application form cannot be changed.
  • Candidates must ensure they provide correct information, particularly for the e-mail ID, photograph, and signature, as incorrectly uploaded items may lead to rejection.

Examination Centres

Candidates must indicate five (5) options/choices for the examination centre from the provided list. While candidates will be accommodated in one of their opted centres, their candidature will be considered only against the vacancies of the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) they have opted for.

Documents for Verification

Candidates should keep the following original documents along with attested copies ready for Document Verification, if called:

  • Matric/Secondary School certificate (name and date of birth).
  • Intermediate/Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (12th) certificate (if acquired).
  • Degree or Provisional degree and mark sheet of graduation (if acquired).
  • OBC certificate (Central Government Format, as per Appendix-I).
  • EWS certificate (if applicable).
  • SC/ST certificate (if applicable).
  • NOC from the present employer (if applicable).
  • Sufficient number of identical photographs to the one uploaded.
  • Domicile Certificate issued from the Competent Authority.
  • Certificate/document supporting age relaxation (Ex-servicemen discharge, PwBD, Widow/Divorcee, Meritorious sportsperson).
