Introduction

The Government of India, Ministry of Railways, through the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), has announced a detailed centralized employment notice (CEN No: 08/2025) for the recruitment of various posts under the Isolated Categories. Eligible Indian Nationals are invited to apply online for these positions in various Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess the prescribed minimum educational/technical/professional qualifications from a recognized Board/University/Institute as of the closing date of online application submission (29/01/2026). Candidates awaiting final results of the prescribed qualification are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)

The lower and upper age limits vary by post. The crucial date for age calculation is January 1, 2026. Age relaxation for reserved categories is applicable as per government norms:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • PwBD (UR): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC-NCL): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per service length plus 3 years.

Application Fee

Category Fee Refund Policy
All candidates (except those in the concession category) Rs. 500/- Rs. 400/- will be refunded after appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
PwBDs, Female, Transgender, Ex-Servicemen, SC, ST, Minority Communities, Economically Backward Class (EBC) Rs. 250/- The full fee will be refunded after appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.

Note: Fee payment must be made online through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process will consist of the following stages:

  1. Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): An objective multiple-choice type test.
  2. Translation Test (TT): This is a qualifying test applicable only for the post of Junior Translator (Hindi).
  3. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be called for DV based on their performance in the CBT (and TT, where applicable).
  4. Medical Examination: Candidates must pass the requisite medical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration.

There will be negative marking in the CBT, with a deduction of 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question for every wrong answer.

How to Apply

  1. Applications must be submitted ONLINE only through the official websites of the RRBs.
  2. Candidates must first 'Create an Account' on the RRB portal if they haven't already done so for CENs notified in 2024/2025.
  3. Candidates can apply to only ONE RRB. Multiple applications will lead to rejection.
  4. A live photograph of the candidate will be captured during the online application process. Candidates are not required to upload a pre-existing photograph.
  5. Candidates must keep their mobile number and email ID active throughout the recruitment process for all communications.
