Introduction

Online applications are invited by Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) on behalf of Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) from eligible Indian Nationals for recruitment to various posts in Level-1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix in various units of Indian Railways. The total number of vacancies is 22,195.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (as on 02.03.2026)

Candidates must have the prescribed educational/technical qualifications from a recognized Board/Institute/University as on the closing date of application. Please see Annexure-A of the official notification for post-wise qualification details. Candidates awaiting final results are NOT eligible to apply.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

The age limit is 18 to 33 years. The date of birth of candidates should be between the dates given below (both dates inclusive):

Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for various categories as per government norms.

Application Fee

Note: Fee payment must be made online through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process will comprise the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Medical Examination (ME)

Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates using a Scribe).
  • Number of Questions: 100
  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC(NCL)-30%, SC-30%, ST-30%.

CBT Syllabus

General Awareness and Current Affairs 20 Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Passing PET is mandatory and it is qualifying in nature. The criteria are as follows:

Male candidates Lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down. Run for a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
Female candidates Lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down. Run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

Note: Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from appearing for PET.

How to Apply

  1. Applications must be submitted ONLINE only through the official RRB websites.
  2. Candidates must first create an account on the portal. A valid personal mobile number and email ID are mandatory.
  3. The application process includes filling out personal details, educational qualifications, and uploading necessary documents.
  4. A live photograph of the candidate will be captured via webcam or front camera of a mobile phone during the application process.
  5. Scanned signature and SC/ST certificate (if applicable for travel pass) must be uploaded as per specifications.

Modification of Application

Candidates can modify their application details (except for details in 'Create an Account' form and chosen RRB) by paying a modification fee of Rs. 250/- for each occasion. The modification window will be open from 05.03.2026 to 14.03.2026.
