Indian Navy Recruitment for Senior Secondary Recruit (Medical) 02/2027 Batch - Indian Navy

The Indian Navy invites online applications from unmarried male candidates for enrollment as Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) (Medical) for the 02/2027 batch. The vacancies will be allocated state-wise.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry (with at least 40% in each subject) from a School Education Board recognized by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Candidates appearing for the 12th board exams in the academic year 2025-26 are also eligible to apply, provided they meet all other criteria.
Age Limit: Candidates should be born between 01 May 2005 and 31 October 2009 (both dates inclusive).

Pay, Allowances and Perks

Stipend: During the initial training period, a stipend of ₹14,600/- per month will be admissible.
Salary: On successful completion of training, they will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (₹21,700 - ₹69,100). In addition, they will be paid Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹5,200/- per month plus Dearness Allowance (as applicable).
Promotion: Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I (Level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix, ₹47,600 - ₹1,51,100) plus MSP @ ₹5,200/- per month.
Perks: During the entire period of training and thereafter, sailors are given books, reading material, uniforms, food, and accommodation free of cost. Sailors are entitled to medical treatment, leave travel concessions for self and dependents, group housing benefits, and other privileges. Post-retirement benefits include pension, gratuity, and leave encashment.
Insurance Cover: A life insurance cover of ₹75 Lakhs is applicable for all sailors on a contributory basis.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two stages:

Stage I: INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) 2026

A computer-based examination with 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark.
The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and of objective type (multiple-choice).
It will comprise four sections: English, Science, Biology, and General Awareness.
The standard of the question paper will be that of 10+2 level.
Duration: One hour.
Penalty for Wrong Answer: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Stage II: Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Examination & Recruitment Medicals

Candidates will be shortlisted for Stage II based on their performance in the Stage I INET 2026 examination. The cut-off marks for shortlisting may vary from state to state.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): It is mandatory to qualify. Standards are as follows:
- 1.6 Km run: within 6 minutes 30 seconds
- Squat ups (Uthak Baithak): 20
- Push-ups: 15
- Bent Knee Sit-ups: 15
Written Examination (Stage II): Candidates who qualify the PFT will appear for the Stage II written exam. The pattern will be the same as the Stage I exam.
Recruitment Medicals: Candidates who qualify the Stage II written exam will undergo a recruitment medical examination.

Medical Standards

Minimum Height: 157 cms.
Vision: Uncorrected Vision - 6/12, 6/12; Corrected Vision - 6/6, 6/6; Colour Perception - CP PASS.
Tattoo: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inner face of forearms i.e. from the inside of the elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of the palm/ back (dorsal) side of the hand.

Application Fee: An examination fee of ₹550/- plus 18% GST is to be paid online using net banking or by using Visa/ Master/ RuPay Credit/ Debit Card/ UPI.
