The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) invites online application forms from eligible candidates for direct recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector (Telecommunication) in the Home Department, Jammu and Kashmir.

Eligibility Criteria

Domicile

Candidates must be Domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority on or before the cut-off date (2026-01-13).

Educational Qualification (as per Annexure-A)

Post: Sub-Inspector (Telecommunication) Pay Level: Level-6C (35700-113100)

Academic Qualification: A 4-year degree (Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology) in any of the following streams:

  • Computer Science Engineering
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering
  • Telecommunication Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Mechatronics
  • Data Science
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Cyber Security

Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification strictly on or before the cut-off date (2026-01-13).

Reservation

Reservation for posts will be applicable as per the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules. Candidates seeking reservation benefits must possess a valid Category Certificate by the cut-off date and upload it during online application.

Horizontal Reservation:

  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Women candidates are eligible. 15% of available vacancies in direct recruitment shall be earmarked for women candidates in non-gazetted ranks as per S.O. 288 dated 2022-06-14 of Home Department.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are not eligible for these posts.

Application Fee

  • General Candidates: Rs. 700/-
  • SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS Candidates: Rs. 600/-

Fee is payable only through online mode (Net Banking, Credit, or Debit cards) and is non-refundable.

Scheme of Examination

Written Examination

  • Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Questions will be in English only.
  • Negative Marking of one-fourth (1/4th) for each wrong answer.
  • Bonus Marks for NCC Certificates (as per S.O. 290 dated 2021-08-20):
    • NCC “C” Certificate holders: 5% of maximum marks
    • NCC “B” Certificate holders: 3% of maximum marks
    • NCC “A” Certificate holders: 2% of maximum marks

Physical Standard Test (PST) (Qualifying Nature)

Candidates shall be shortlisted for PST on the basis of written test (six times the total number of vacancies).

  • For Males:
    • Height: 5′-6″ (minimum)
    • Chest girth: 32″ (unexpanded)
    • Chest girth: 33 1/2″ (expanded)
  • For Females:
    • Height: 5′-2″ (minimum)
    • Provided that for candidates belonging to the Gorkha Community /Bot Tribe, the minimum Height shall be relaxable by 2″.

Physical Endurance Test (PET) (Qualifying Nature)

Candidates who qualify the PST shall undergo PET.

  • For Male candidates:
    • Long Race: 1600 meters in 6 1/2 minutes
    • Pushups: 20 (one cycle of up and down to be counted as one)
  • For Female candidates:
    • Long Race: 1000 meters in 6 1/2 minutes
    • Shot put (4Kgs): 14 1/2 feet in three attempts

Special provisions regarding relaxation in Physical Endurance Test for Ex-Servicemen:

Medical Examination

Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination to assess physical and medical fitness.

Syllabus for the Posts

The syllabus for the posts shall be notified separately and made available on the official website of JKSSB (www.jkssb.nic.in).

Admission to the Examination

Candidature will be accepted provisionally. Examination details and Admit Cards will be uploaded on www.jkssb.nic.in. Candidates must carry two passport-size recent color photographs and an original valid Photo-ID proof (e.g., Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport) to the examination venue.

Document Verification (DV)

Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for Document Verification with original documents and self-attested photocopies. All documents, including academic qualification, domicile, and category certificates, must be legally valid on or before the cut-off date (2026-01-13).

Important Instructions to Candidates

  • Candidates are advised to read the advertisement notification carefully before applying.
  • Ensure name, date of birth, father's name, and mother's name match matriculation certificate.
  • Requests for change/correction in the application form will not be entertained once submitted.
  • Candidates are advised to submit online applications much before the closing date to avoid last-minute issues.
  • Only one online application for the post of the same item number is allowed.
  • In-service candidates must submit the printout of the filled online application form along with a duly filled, signed, and stamped Certificate through proper channel to their concerned Head of Department/Designated Authority.
