Notification Regarding Candidates Declared Unfit

This notice addresses candidates under CEN 03/2024 who were not considered for empanelment due to being declared 'Unfit' in the prescribed medical examination or having lower merit as per eligibility criteria.

Appeal Procedure

Candidates who have been declared medically unfit may prefer an appeal to the Principal Chief Medical Director (PCMD), Northern Railway, Baroda House, New Delhi. The appeal must be submitted through The Chairman, Railway Recruitment Board, Railway Colony West, Jammu, and must reach by 18:00 hours on 2025-11-14.

Appeals must be sent by Registered Post or Speed Post only.

Conditions for Appeal

The appeal will be entertained only if the following conditions are met:

  • Medical Certificate (Proforma A): The candidate must produce a certificate in the attached prescribed format (Proforma A) from a Government or Private Doctor specializing in the medical condition for which the candidate was found unfit.
  • Specialist's Awareness: The certificate must include a note confirming that the specialist is fully aware of the physical and visual standards set by the Railways for the specific medical category and is aware that the candidate was previously declared unfit according to these standards during a medical examination conducted by an appropriate medical board.
  • Attestation: The certificate must bear the candidate's photograph and mark of identification, duly attested by the government/private medical certificate issuing authority, clearly mentioning their MCI/State registration number.
  • Appeal Fee: A fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) must be paid through a Demand Draft (DD) made payable in favor of Chairman/RRB/Jammu.
  • Re-examination: If the PCMD deems it necessary, a medical board may be nominated to re-examine the candidate. The decision of the PCMD, Northern Railway, will be communicated to the candidate through RRB/Jammu.
  • Fee Refund: If the decision changes from 'unfit' to 'fit', the Rs. 1000/- DD amount will be refunded. In all other cases, the DD amount will be forfeited, and candidates will have no further claim.
  • Finality of Decision: No further chance for medical examination will be given after this appeal.

Important Notes

  1. The appeal against medical unfitness must be submitted in the candidate's own handwriting with signature.
  2. Proforma 'A' must contain detailed diagnosis particulars (both with and without glasses for visual standards).
  3. The appeal will only be entertained with the appeal letter (Proforma B), the original Medical Certificate (Proforma A), and the Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/-.

  • Proforma 'A' (Medical Certificate): This is a template for the medical certificate to be obtained from a specialist. It requires details about the candidate, their medical findings, and a declaration from the specialist confirming their awareness of Railway medical standards.
  • Proforma 'B' (Appeal Letter): This is a template for the appeal letter to be filled out by the candidate, addressed to the Principal Chief Medical Director through the Chairman, RRB, Jammu. It includes sections for personal details, details of the previous document verification and medical examination, and a declaration of unfitness and request for re-examination.
