RRB NTPC CEN 05/2024: Special Instructions for Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST)

Introduction

This notice provides special instructions for candidates appearing for the Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for the recruitment of various NTPC Graduate Posts under CEN 05/2024.

Test Schedule and Requirements

  • Test Date: The CBTST is scheduled to be held on 28th December, 2025.
  • City Intimation Slip: The city intimation slip is now live.
  • Typing Requirement: Candidates are required to type at least 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi.

Language and Font

  • Language Options: Candidates can choose to type in either English or Hindi.
  • Default Language: English is the default typing language.
  • Hindi Fonts: Candidates opting for Hindi must be familiar with the usage of Krutidev or Mangal font.

Exam Session Structure

The exam session is divided into three parts:

  1. Practice: One minute of typing practice to warm up and familiarize with the keyboard.
  2. Break: A 30-second break.
  3. Typing Test: A 10-minute typing test which will be evaluated.

Test Rules

  • Candidates who complete the passage within the 10-minute duration can retype the passage from the beginning.
  • Candidates who do not type the whole passage at least once in 10 minutes will be disqualified.
  • The transcripts of candidates who do not type 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi within the prescribed time will not be evaluated.

Evaluation Method

  • Mistake Classification: Mistakes are classified as full mistakes and half mistakes. 5% of the total words typed may be ignored.
  • Total Mistakes Calculation: Total Mistakes = (No. of full mistakes) + (No. of half mistakes / 2).
  • Final Mistake Count: Final count of mistakes = (Total Mistakes) - (5% of total number of words typed).

Typing Speed Calculation

  • Formula: Typing Speed = [No. of total words typed - (Final count of mistakes x 10)] / Time
  • Example: If a candidate types 400 words in 10 minutes with 10 final mistakes, the speed is calculated as: (400 - (10 x 10)) / 10 = 300 / 10 = 30 w.p.m.
  • Minimum Speed Required: 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi.

Important Instructions

  • The use of editing tools for correcting mistakes is not permitted.
  • Candidates are advised to refer only to the official websites of RRBs for the latest updates and not be misled by unauthenticated sources.
  • Beware of touts offering jobs for illegal consideration. RRB selections are based on merit in the Computer Based Test (CBT).
