Intelligence Bureau (IB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is inviting applications from technically sound young Graduate Indian Nationals with consistent academic records and qualifying cut-off marks in GATE (2023, 2024, or 2025) for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Tech (ACIO-II/Tech).

  • Name of Post: Assistant Central Intelligence Officer Grade – II / Tech (ACIO-II/Tech)
  • Classification: General Central Service, Group 'C' (Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial)
  • Pay Scale: Level 7 (₹44,900-1,42,400) in the pay matrix, plus admissible Central Government allowances.
  • Additional Benefits:
    • Special Security Allowance @ 20% of basic pay in addition to other Government allowances.
    • Cash compensation in lieu of duty performed on holidays, subject to a ceiling of 30 days.

Essential Qualification (as on 16.11.2025)

Candidates must have achieved qualifying cut-off marks in GATE 2023 or 2024 or 2025 in Electronics & Communication (GATE code: EC) or Computer Science & Information Technology (GATE code: CS) along with either:

i) Graduate Degree in Engineering in Electronics or Electronics and Tele-communication or Electronics and Communication or Electrical and Electronics or Information Technology or Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering; from a Government recognized University/College/Institute. OR

ii) Master's Degree in Science with Electronics or Computer Science or Physics with Electronics or Electronics & Communication; OR Master's Degree in Computer Applications from a Government recognized University/College/Institute.

Age Limit (as on 16.11.2025)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 27 years

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC candidates: 3 years
  • Departmental candidates (3 years regular and continuous service in Central Govt.): Up to 40 years.
  • Widows, divorced women, and women judicially separated from their husbands and not remarried:
    • UR: Up to 35 years
    • OBC: Up to 38 years
    • SC/ST: Up to 40 years
  • Ex-servicemen (ESM): As per Government instructions.
  • Meritorious Sportspersons: Up to 5 years (as per DoP&AR O.M. No. 14015/1/76-Estt.(D), dtd 4.8.1980).

Scheme of Examination

  1. Shortlisting: Candidates (10 times the number of vacancies) will be shortlisted based on GATE scores (2023, 2024, or 2025) for Skill Test and Interview.
  2. Skill Test: Practical-based and technical in nature, commensurate with the job profile.
  3. Interview: Assesses subject knowledge in relevant fields and communication skills.

Note: Maximum Marks under the Scheme of Exam are 1175. This includes 750 marks for GATE Score, 250 marks for Skill Test, and 175 marks for Interview.

Selection of Candidates

  • Shortlisted candidates will appear directly for the Skill Test and Interview at Delhi.
  • Candidates can provide their best GATE score from 2023, 2024, or 2025.
  • Date and time for Skill Test and Interview will be intimated via email.
  • A final merit list will be prepared based on the combined score of GATE, Skill Test, and Interview.
  • A waiting list will also be prepared for future replacements.
  • Final selection is subject to successful completion of Character & Antecedent verification, followed by medical examination.

Resolution of Tie Cases

In case of a tie in scores, the following criteria will be applied in order: a) GATE Score b) Marks in Skill Test c) Marks in Interview d) Date of birth (older candidates placed higher) e) Alphabetical order of names (starting with the first name)

  • Last Date for submission of Application Fee through SBI challan (offline): 18.11.2025 (Banking Hrs)

Examination Fee

  • Examination Fee: Rs. 100/-
  • Recruitment Processing Charges: Rs. 100/-

Fee Structure:

  • All candidates: Recruitment Processing Charges @Rs. 100/-
  • Male candidates of UR, EWS and OBC categories: Examination Fee @Rs. 100/- in addition to Recruitment Processing Charges (₹ 100) i.e. ₹ 200/-
  • SC/ST candidates, female candidates, and eligible Ex-Servicemen: Exempted from Examination Fee (Rs. 100/-), but must pay Recruitment Processing Charges (Rs. 100/-).
  • Ex-servicemen already employed in civil side under Central Govt in Group 'C' posts: Required to pay Examination Fee (Rs. 100/-) plus Recruitment Processing Charges (Rs. 100/-).
  • Banking charges, if applicable, will be borne by the candidate.

Mode of Payment

Payment can be made online via SBI EPAY LITE (Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking, UPI) or offline through SBI challan.

How to Apply

  • Applications must be submitted only through ONLINE registration via MHA's website (www.mha.gov.in) or NCS portal (www.ncs.gov.in). No other mode will be accepted.
  • Registration done prior to 25.10.2025 and after 16.11.2025 will not be accepted.
  • Candidates are advised to register well in time, as the application portal may experience high traffic near the closing date. The closing date for online application will not be extended.
  • Candidates must ensure all information is correct as it cannot be edited after submission of Step-I and Step-II.
  • A valid personal E-mail ID and mobile number must be kept active throughout the recruitment process.

Documents to keep ready for online application

  • Valid E-mail ID & Mobile Number.
  • Scanned recent passport size color Photograph (100-200KB, jpg/jpeg format, not older than 12 weeks, face covering 70-80%, light background).
  • Scanned signature (80-150KB, jpg/jpeg format, signed on white paper with black ink).
  • Valid photo ID proof issued by Central/State Government.
  • Certificate(s)/Marksheet(s) pertaining to Class X, XII/Diploma & Graduation/Post Graduation.

General Instructions

  • The crucial date for determining age limit, educational qualifications, and certificates/testimonials is 16.11.2025.
  • Caste certificates, date of birth, and name will be accepted as per Government instructions and matriculation certificate records.
  • Candidates seeking reservation benefits (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ESM) must ensure they are entitled and possess relevant certificates in the format prescribed by the Government of India.
  • OBC candidates must belong to the Central Government list and NOT the creamy layer. The OBC certificate must be in the proforma given at Appendix-I.
  • Candidates already in Government service or working with PSUs/Autonomous Bodies should inform their Employer or obtain necessary permission. Those in PSUs/Autonomous Bodies are not eligible for age relaxation.
  • Candidates whose results for essential qualifications have not been declared by the closing date are NOT eligible.
  • No Travelling Allowance (TA) or other expenses will be admissible for Skill Test & Interview, except for unemployed SC/ST candidates.
  • Candidates are advised to submit only one application. Multiple applications may lead to cancellation.
  • Candidates must carry sufficient passport size colored photographs (identical to the uploaded one) and original identity proof (Voter Card, Driving License, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Identity Card issued by University/College etc.) for the interview.
