Recruitment Process

The selection process for various posts under the UP Police will be conducted as per the following regulations:

  • Sub-Inspector Civil Police (Male/Female) and Female Sub-Inspector in Women's Battalion: Selection will be governed by the "Uttar Pradesh Sub-Inspector and Inspector (Civil Police) Service Rules-2015" (as amended up to the eighth amendment).
  • Platoon Commander PAC / Sub-Inspector Armed Police: Selection will be governed by the "Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary Subordinate Officer Service Rules, 2015" (as amended up to the first amendment).
  • Platoon Commander / Sub-Inspector, Special Security Force: Selection will be governed by the "Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force Rules, 2021".

Written Examination

Candidates with valid applications will be required to appear for a written examination of 400 marks. The examination will consist of objective-type questions covering the following subjects:

Key Points for Written Exam:

  • Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum of 35% in each subject and an aggregate of 50% overall to be eligible for the next stage. Failure to meet this criterion will result in disqualification.
  • Exam Mode: The examination will be conducted offline using OMR sheets. It may be held in a single shift on one day, or multiple shifts across one or more days.
  • Duration: The exam duration will be 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • Total Questions: There will be a total of 160 questions.
  • Normalization: If the exam is conducted in multiple shifts or on multiple dates, a normalization process will be applied to the scores as per the board's notification (PRPB-1(155)/2023) dated 18.12.2023.
  • Admit Card: Admit cards will be available for download from the official board website: http://uppbpb.gov.in.
  • Language: The question paper, except for the General Hindi section, will be available in both Hindi and English. In case of any ambiguity, the English version will be considered final.
  • Incorrect Questions: If a question is found to be incorrect or has all incorrect options, it will be cancelled, and the marks will be redistributed among the remaining correct questions of that section.

Document Verification and Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for Document Verification (DV) and Physical Standard Test (PST).

1. Physical Standards for Male Candidates:

  • Height:
    • General/OBC/SC: Minimum 168 cm.
    • ST: Minimum 160 cm.
  • Chest:
    • General/OBC/SC: 79 cm (unexpanded) and 84 cm (expanded).
    • ST: 77 cm (unexpanded) and 82 cm (expanded).
    • A minimum chest expansion of 5 cm is mandatory.

2. Physical Standards for Female Candidates:

  • Height:
    • General/OBC/SC: Minimum 152 cm.
    • ST: Minimum 147 cm.
  • Weight:
    • A minimum weight of 40 kg is required for all female candidates.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who clear the DV and PST will be required to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is qualifying in nature.

  • Male Candidates: 4.8 km run to be completed within 28 minutes.
  • Female Candidates: 2.4 km run to be completed within 16 minutes.

Candidates who fail to complete the run within the specified time will be disqualified.

Selection and Final Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination, considering the reservation policy. Candidates will be selected category-wise based on merit. The board will not prepare any waiting list.
