Overview

Applications are invited from unmarried male candidates for the 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES-55) course, commencing in July 2026, for the grant of Permanent Commission in the Indian Army. This scheme is open to candidates who have passed their 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and have appeared in the JEE (Mains) 2025 examination. Important Dates

  • Online Application Opens: October 14, 2025, at 1200 Hrs
  • Online Application Closes: November 13, 2025, at 1200 Hrs
  • Publication of Cut-off % for Shortlisting: Tentatively Third week of November 2025
  • SSB Interview Dates: Tentatively between February to March 2026 (Candidates can choose SSB dates for two weeks in January 2026).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality:
    • A citizen of India, or
    • A subject of Nepal, or
    • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam) with the intention of permanently settling in India.
    • Note: Candidates from categories (ii) and (iii) require an eligibility certificate from the Government of India, except for Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
  • Age Limit (as on July 01, 2026):
    • Candidates must not be below 16½ years and not above 19½ years.
    • Candidates must have been born between January 02, 2007, and January 01, 2010 (both days inclusive).
    • Note: Only the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination certificate will be accepted. Once recorded, the date of birth will not be changed.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
    • Must have appeared in the JEE (Mains) 2025 examination.
    • Note: PCM percentage will be calculated based on Class XII marks only. False entries of PCM percentage will lead to outright rejection.
  • Marital Status: Unmarried male.
  • Medical Standards: Refer to www.joinindianarmy.nic.in for detailed medical standards and procedures for Officer's Entry into the Army.
  • Debarment: Candidates should not have been debarred from any UPSC examination, arrested, or convicted by a criminal court. Candidature will be cancelled if any such issue arises during selection or training.

Vacancies

  • Total Vacancies: 90 (Provisional, subject to increase/decrease based on organizational requirements and training capacity).

Selection Process

  1. Application Screening & Shortlisting: Applications will be screened by the Directorate General of Recruiting, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army).
  2. Cut-off: Integrated Headquarters of MoD (Army) reserves the right to short-list applications and fix the cut-off based on JEE Mains Common Rank List (CRL) and other parameters without assigning any reason.
  3. SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a five-day SSB interview at one of the Selection Centres (Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar).
    • The SSB interview involves a two-stage selection procedure (Stage I and Stage II).
    • Candidates who fail Stage I will be returned on the same day.
    • Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of the Directorate General of Recruiting; requests for changes will not be entertained.
  4. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended after Stage II of the SSB will undergo a medical examination at the nearest Military Hospital.
    • Note for Common Candidates (TES & NDA): Candidates applying for both TES and NDA/NA will undergo medical examination for the entry they are recommended for first. The medical status for TES (10+2) will be the same as NDA (Army) medical examination status. Unfit in NDA will be considered Unfit for TES.
  5. Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based solely on the marks obtained in the SSB interview. Higher educational qualifications, previous performances, or NCC background will not play a role in finalizing the merit list. The merit list will be displayed on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  6. Joining Letters: Joining Letters for pre-commission training at Cadets Training Wings will be issued based on vacancies and medical fitness.

Training Details

  • Training Academies: Cadets Training Wing (CTW) and Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.
  • Total Duration: 4 years (3 years at CTW + 1 year at IMA).
  • Degree Awarded: Engineering Degree upon successful completion of the four-year training.
    • Engineering Streams offered at CTWs:
      • CTW CME, Pune: Civil & Mechanical Engineering (Parent Arm: Corps of Engineers)
      • CTW MCTE, Mhow: Telecommunication & IT Engineering (Dual Degree) (Parent Arm: Corps of Signals)
      • CTW MCEME, Secunderabad: Electronics & Mechanical Engineering (Parent Arm: Corps of Electronics & Mechanical Engineers)
  • Stipend During Training: ₹56,100/- per month (admissible at IMA only) after completing 3 years of training, similar to NDA cadets.
  • Cost of Training: ₹13,940/- per week (as per 2021 rates) borne by the Government. This amount will be recovered from candidates who withdraw from the academy or resign for personal reasons.
  • Bond: Finally selected candidates will execute all prescribed Bonds/Certificates for Regular Cadets of NDA entry under AI 53/78.

  • 2.4 Km Run: 10 minutes 30 seconds
  • Push Up: 40

  • Squats: Two Sets of 30 Repetitions
  • Lunges: Two Sets of 10 Repetitions
  • Swimming: Should know fundamentals of swimming

Pay & Allowances

  • Rank After Training: Lieutenant.
  • Salary on Commissioning: Lieutenant: Pay Level 10 (₹56,100 - ₹1,77,500). Cost to Company (CTC) approx. ₹17-18 Lakhs per annum (excluding free medical cover & travel to hometown once a year).
  • Type of Commission: Permanent Commission.
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/- per month (fixed) for officers from Lieutenant to Brigadier.
  • Other Allowances:
    • Dearness Allowance (DA): Admissible at rates applicable to civilian personnel.
    • Dress Allowance (Kit Maintenance): ₹20,000/- per year (subsumed into newly proposed Dress Allowance).
    • Risk and Hardship Allowances: Dependent on rank and area of posting (Field Area, Siachen, High Altitude, etc.), with varying rates (e.g., RH Max Offr - Rs 42500, R1H1 Offr - Rs 25000, R1H2 Offrs - Rs 16900, R1H3 Offrs - Rs 5300).
    • Ration in Kind: Provided in peace and field areas.
    • Transport Allowance (TPTA): For Pay Level 9 and above: ₹7200 + DA in Higher TPTA cities (e.g., Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru) and ₹3600 + DA in Other Places.
      • Note: Not admissible if government transport is provided or for calendar months fully covered by leave. Physically disabled personnel receive double rate.
    • Children Education Allowance: ₹2,250/- per month per child for the first two eldest surviving children (from three classes before class one to 12th class).
    • Hostel Subsidy: ₹6,750/- per month per child for the first two eldest surviving children.
    • Note: All pay and allowances are subject to revision from time to time.

Life Insurance

  • Pre-Commission Training: Army Group Insurance Fund provides ₹15 Lakhs insurance cover for 3 years on a one-time non-refundable premium of ₹7200/-. Additional premium of ₹1355/- if relegated.
    • Disability Benefits: ₹15 Lakhs for 100% disability (proportionately reduced to ₹3 Lakhs for 20% disability). For less than 20% disability, an Ex-Gratia Grant of ₹50,000/- (first two years) and ₹1 Lakh (third year) is paid.
    • Exclusions: Disability due to alcoholism, drug addiction, pre-enrolment diseases, disciplinary withdrawal, or voluntary resignation are not covered.
  • During Stipend Period: Gentlemen Cadets receiving stipend are insured for ₹1.25 Crore, applicable to regular Army officers. Monthly subscription of ₹12,500/-.
    • Disability Benefits: ₹25 Lakhs for 100% disability (proportionately reduced to ₹5 Lakhs for 20% disability). For less than 20% disability, an Ex-Gratia Grant of ₹50,000/- is paid.
    • Exclusions: Same as above.

How to Apply

  1. Online Application: Applications must be submitted online only through the 'online application' button on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  2. Fill Details: Candidates must accurately fill their particulars in the online application. Read the terms and conditions before submission.
  3. Editing Application: Changes to incorrectly filled data are permitted until the closing date of online applications. Candidates must 'submit' their application each time after editing. No changes will be allowed after the closing date.
  4. Confirmation & Printout: After successful submission, a confirmation dialog box will appear. Candidates must print two copies of the application with the Roll Number (available 30 minutes after closing of online applications).
  5. Documents for SSB Interview: Candidates must carry one self-attested printout of the application form along with the original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies to the Selection Centre for the SSB interview. Required documents include:
    • Class 10th original certificate and mark sheet (as proof of date of birth).
    • Class 12th original certificate and mark sheet.
    • Original ID proof.
    • Copy of JEE (Mains) 2025 result.
    • 20 self-attested passport-sized photographs.
    • Note: The second print copy of the online application should be retained by the candidate for reference. Hard copies of the application need not be sent to the Directorate General of Recruiting.
  6. Single Application: Candidates must submit only one application. Multiple applications will result in the cancellation of candidature.

General Instructions

  • Candidates are advised to read the notification carefully to avoid mistakes.
  • Any ambiguity, false information, or concealment of information detected at any stage will result in the cancellation of candidature.
  • No request for changes in SSB interview dates/centres will be entertained.
  • Travelling allowance (AC III tier/bus fare) is admissible for first-time SSB appearance for a particular type of commission.
  • Queries regarding Selection Centre allotment, interview dates, merit list, etc., should be directed through the 'Feedback/Queries' option on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • In case of any dispute, the English version of the notification will prevail.
