Introduction The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct an open competitive Examination for recruitment of Constable (Driver)-Male in Delhi Police. Candidates from all parts of the country are eligible to apply, as per the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Delhi Police and the SSC. The recruitment process adheres to the Standing Order of the Delhi Police.

Essential Qualification (as on the closing date of receipt of Online Application Form)

  1. 10+2 (Senior Secondary) passed or equivalent from a recognized Board.
  2. Should be able to drive heavy vehicles with confidence.
  3. Valid driving license for Heavy Motor Vehicles (as on closing date of receipt of Online Application Form). Learner's license will not be accepted.
  4. Possess knowledge of maintenance of vehicles.

Age Limit

21-30 years as on 2025-07-01. Candidate must have been born not earlier than 1995-07-02 and not later than 2004-07-01.

Permissible relaxations in upper age-limit:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service rendered from actual age.
  • Sportsperson of distinction (State/International level): 5 years (other than SC/ST), 10 years (SC/ST).
  • Departmental candidates of Delhi Police (UR/EWS) with 3 years continuous service: Up to 40 years.
  • Departmental candidates of Delhi Police (OBC) with 3 years continuous service: Up to 43 years.
  • Departmental candidates of Delhi Police (SC/ST) with 3 years continuous service: Up to 45 years.

Incentive to NCC Certificate Holder

  • NCC 'C' Certificate: 5% of maximum marks.
  • NCC 'B' Certificate: 3% of maximum marks.
  • NCC 'A' Certificate: 2% of maximum marks.

Weightage of Additional Marks (Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) Degree/Post Graduate Diploma)

  • Distinction: 5% of maximum marks.
  • First Class: 4% of maximum marks.
  • Second Class: 3% of maximum marks.
  • Pass Class: 2% of maximum marks.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the SSC Headquarter website (https://ssc.gov.in) or the ‘mySSC’ mobile application (downloadable from Google Play Store). Candidates who have not generated their One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website (https://ssc.gov.in) must do so first.

Online Application Fee

  • Fee payable: ₹100/-
  • Exemptions: Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation.
  • Online fee payment last date: 2025-10-16 (23:00 Hours).

Window for Online Application Form Correction

  • Dates: 2025-10-23 to 2025-10-25 (23:00 hours).
  • Correction charges: ₹200/- for the first time, ₹500/- for the second time.

Centres of Examination

The Staff Selection Commission has nine Regional Offices across India. Candidates must opt for three examination centers in order of priority. The Commission reserves the right to add new centers or cancel existing ones.

Scheme of Examination

The examination will consist of the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Examination (CBE)
  2. Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT)/ Document Verification (DV)
  3. Trade Test
  4. Medical Examination of the recommended candidates

Computer Based Examination (CBE)

  • Format: Objective type multiple-choice paper with 100 questions carrying 100 marks.
  • Time: 90 minutes.
  • Language: English and Hindi.
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Syllabus Highlights:

  • General Awareness: Questions on general knowledge, current events, sports, history, culture, geography, Indian economy, general polity, Indian constitution, scientific research.
  • General Intelligence: Analytical aptitude, patterns, analogies, similarities/differences, spatial visualization, arithmetical reasoning, figural classification, number series, coding/decoding.
  • Numerical Ability: Number systems, whole numbers, decimals, fractions, relationships between numbers, arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio & proportion, averages, interest, profit & loss, discount, mensuration, time & distance, ratio & time, time & work.
  • Road Sense, Vehicle Maintenance, Traffic Rules/Signals/Signages, Vehicle & Environmental Pollution: Questions related to driving and vehicle maintenance.

Qualifying Marks for CBE:

  • General/EWS Category: 40%
  • SC/ST/OBC: 35%
  • Ex-servicemen: 30%

Physical Endurance Test (PE&MT)

Standards for Male candidates (including ex-servicemen and departmental candidates age-wise):

Candidates who qualify in Race will be eligible for Long Jump and High Jump. Three chances will be given for Long Jump and High Jump. No appeal against disqualification in these events.

Physical Measurement Standards (for Male candidates)

  • Height: Minimum 170 cm.
    • Relaxation (5 cm): For residents of Hill areas (Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir valley/region of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh), ST candidates, and sons of serving/retired/deceased Delhi Police personnel/Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police.
  • Chest: 81 cm with a minimum of 4 cm expansion (i.e., 81-85 cm).
    • Relaxation (5 cm): Same categories as for height.

Appeals against Physical Standard disqualification can be made on the same day to the Appellate Authority.

Trade Test (Qualifying)

  • Marks: 150 marks (qualifying in nature, not for merit).
  • Minimum qualifying marks: Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks in each part of the tests.

    • Knowledge of traffic signs/road sense/basic Driving rules (25 Marks, 12.5 Qualifying Marks): Includes lane driving, overtaking procedure, road-map reading, vehicle maintenance (tyre pressure, battery water level, oils, coolant, belts/hose pipes, etc.).

Medical Standard

Candidates should be of sound health, free from disease/defect/deformity.

  • Eye Vision: Better eye vision 6/6 without glasses, worse eye 6/12 without glasses. Free from color blindness. No relaxation is allowed.
  • Medical examination will be conducted as per prescribed standards in Rule-17A (XX) and Rule-24 (Appendix) of the Delhi Police (Appointment & Recruitment) Rules, 1980.

Admission to the Examination

Admission Certificates (AC) for CBE will be uploaded on the SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in). AC for PE&MT/DV and Trade Test will be uploaded on the Delhi Police website (www.delhipolice.nic.in). Candidates must carry original valid Photo-ID proof with Date of Birth and two passport-size recent color photographs to the examination center. Aadhaar-Based Authentication is encouraged; candidates using it are exempt from certain photograph/signature rejection grounds.

Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted based on CBE and qualifying PE&MT will undergo Document Verification and Trade Test. Required documents include Matriculation/Secondary Certificate, Essential Educational Qualification Certificate, Driving License, Caste/Category Certificate, Hill Area Certificate, Ex-Servicemen certificates, Wards Certificate, Sports Certificate, NCC Certificate, RRU Certificate, and NOC if applicable.

Mode of Selection

The selection process includes CBE, PE&MT, DV, Trade Test, and Medical Examination. Candidates scoring below the cut-off marks in CBE (Unreserved/EWS: 40, SC/ST/OBC: 35, ESM: 30) will not be shortlisted for the next stage. Approximately 20 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for PE&MT.

Resolution of Tie Cases

In case of a tie in aggregate marks:

  1. Older candidate is preferred.
  2. If DOB and CBE marks are same, alphabetical order of first names decides.

Action against Candidates Found Guilty of Misconduct

Candidates involved in malpractices (e.g., taking examination material, using unfair means, impersonation) will face cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations (periods from 1 to 7 years depending on malpractice).

Important Instructions to Candidates

  • Read the Notice carefully. English version will prevail in case of dispute.
  • Submit online application form well before the closing date to avoid technical issues.
  • Ensure name and date of birth match Matriculation/Secondary Certificate.
  • Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website if not already done.
  • Consider Aadhaar Based Authentication for OTR.
  • The online application module captures a live photograph; ensure it is clear, without cap or spectacles, and has a plain background. Blurred/miniature signatures will be rejected.
  • Only one online application form per candidate is allowed.
  • Regularly check the SSC and Regional Office websites for updates.
  • Candidates apply for a Police Force and must be physically/mentally prepared for recruitment stages. The Commission/Delhi Police are not responsible for incidents/accidents during recruitment.
