Physical Standards for Candidates

Physical measurements (Height, Chest, and Weight) will not be awarded marks, but candidates failing to meet the prescribed qualifications will be declared unsuccessful.

Height

  • Unreserved (General) and Backward Class (Male): Minimum 165 cm.
  • Extremely Backward Class, Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe (Male): Minimum 160 cm.
  • All categories of Women: Minimum 155 cm.

Chest (Only for Men)

  • Unreserved (General)/Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class (Male):
    • Unexpanded: 81 cm (Minimum)
    • Expanded: 86 cm (Minimum)
    • A minimum difference of 5 cm between unexpanded and expanded chest is mandatory.
  • Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Male):
    • Unexpanded: 79 cm (Minimum)
    • Expanded: 84 cm (Minimum)
    • A minimum difference of 5 cm between unexpanded and expanded chest is mandatory.
  • Chest measurement is not applicable for women.

Weight

  • All categories of female candidates must have a minimum weight of 48 kg.

Third Gender Candidates

  • For Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender (Third Gender) candidates, physical measurement and physical efficiency test standards will be the same as for Backward Class female candidates.

Recruitment Process

Written Competitive Examination

  1. After the collection of application forms, they will be scrutinized. Candidates whose application forms are found correct will be called for a written competitive examination.
  2. The written examination will be conducted in two phases: Preliminary and Main Examination.
  3. All papers of the written examination will consist of multiple-choice questions.

First Phase: Preliminary Examination

  • The Preliminary Examination will consist of one paper of 200 marks, with a total of 100 questions, and the examination duration will be 2 (two) hours.
  • This paper will include questions related to General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
  • Candidates scoring less than 30% marks will be declared unsuccessful for the Main Examination.
  • Based on the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination, 20 (twenty) times the number of successful candidates will be selected merit-wise and category-wise as per reservation for the Main Written Examination.
  • In case of insufficient availability of eligible candidates, this ratio may be suitably reduced.
  • If the number of applications received is high, the examination may be conducted in more than one shift.
  • For multi-session/multi-question paper examinations, normalized marks will be calculated using the Equi-Percentile Method.

Second Phase: Main Examination

  • Successful candidates from the Preliminary Examination will be given an opportunity to appear in the Main Examination. The Main Examination will have two papers.
  • First Paper: General Hindi
    • 200 marks, 2 (two) hours duration, 100 questions.
    • A minimum qualifying score of 30% is mandatory, failing which candidates will be disqualified.
    • Marks from the General Hindi paper will not be added to the merit list.
  • Second Paper: General Studies
    • This paper will cover General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability Test.
    • 200 marks, total 100 questions, 2 (two) hours duration.

Negative Marking

  • For both phases of the examination, 0.2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • The answer sheet will be in two copies, one of which will be kept by the commission.

Selection for Physical Efficiency Test

  • Based on the main written examination, 6 (six) times the number of candidates will be selected category-wise and merit-wise for the Physical Efficiency Test.
  • Candidates must only qualify the Physical Efficiency Test.
  • In case of insufficient availability of eligible candidates, this ratio may be suitably reduced.

Third Phase: Physical Ability/Efficiency Test

Candidates must qualify the following Physical Ability/Efficiency Tests.

Race
  • All categories of Men: 1 (one) mile (1.6 km) race to be completed within 6 minutes 30 seconds. Candidates taking more time will be disqualified.
  • All categories of Women: 1 (one) kilometer race to be completed within 6 minutes. Candidates taking more time will be disqualified.
High Jump
  • All categories of Men: Minimum 4 (four) feet. Male candidates jumping less than 4 (four) feet will be disqualified.
  • All categories of Women: Minimum 3 (three) feet. Female candidates jumping less than 3 (three) feet will be disqualified.
Long Jump
  • All categories of Men: Minimum 12 (twelve) feet. Male candidates jumping less than 12 (twelve) feet will be disqualified.
  • All categories of Women: Minimum 9 (nine) feet. Female candidates jumping less than 9 (nine) feet will be disqualified.
Shot Put
  • All categories of Men: 16-pound shot put. Minimum 16 (sixteen) feet throw. Male candidates throwing less than 16 (sixteen) feet will be disqualified.
  • All categories of Women: 12-pound shot put. Minimum 10 (ten) feet throw. Female candidates throwing less than 10 (ten) feet will be disqualified.

General Rules for Physical Ability/Efficiency Test

  • Candidates completing the race within the stipulated time (6 minutes 30 seconds for men and 6 minutes for women) but failing to meet the minimum specified standards in High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put will be disqualified.
  • Such candidates will not be given an opportunity to participate in other events.
  • Candidates must be successful separately in all events.
  • Only three attempts will be given for High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put.
