Introduction

The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Western Railway, has released a notification for the engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Online applications are invited from interested and eligible candidates for 5,349 slots for training in various designated trades at Divisions and Workshops under the jurisdiction of Western Railway for the year 2025-26.

Eligibility Conditions

Age Criteria (as on 23/03/2026)

  • Applicants must have completed 15 years of age and must not have attained 24 years of age.
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
    • OBC Candidates: 3 years
    • Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 10 years
    • Ex-Servicemen: Upper age limit is relaxed by an additional 10 years plus the length of military service rendered and an additional 3 years, provided they have completed a minimum of 6 months continuous service.

Educational and Technical Qualifications (as on 18/02/2026)

  • Educational Qualification: Applicants must have passed Matriculation (10th class) under the 10+2 examination system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.
  • Technical Qualification: Applicants must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade, affiliated to NCVT.

Application Fee

  • Amount: ₹100 (non-refundable).
  • Exemptions: No fee is required for SC/ST, PwBD, and Women applicants.
  • Mode of Payment: The fee must be paid online through the payment gateway using Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or Internet Banking.

Mode of Selection

  • The selection will be based on a merit list prepared by taking the average of the percentage of marks obtained in both Matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and the ITI examination, with equal weightage given to both.
  • There will be no written test or viva.
  • In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate will be given preference. If the date of birth is also identical, the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier will be given priority.

Training Period & Stipend

  • Training Period: The selected applicants will undergo apprenticeship training for a period of one year.
  • Stipend: A stipend will be paid at the prescribed rate during the training period as per the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board.

How to Apply

  1. Applications must be submitted online only through the RRC-WR website: https://www.rrc-wr.com.
  2. Applicants must have a valid personal email ID and mobile number, which should be kept active throughout the engagement process.
  3. Candidates must fill in their personal details, trade, Aadhaar number, marks/CGPA, and choice of Divisions/Workshops carefully.
  4. Scanned copies of required documents must be uploaded as per the specified format.

Documents to be Uploaded

Applicants are required to upload legible, self-attested scanned copies of the following documents:

  • SSC (Standard 10th) or its equivalent marksheet and certificate for proof of date of birth.
  • Consolidated ITI marksheet for all semesters of the trade applied for / Provisional National Trade Certificate.
  • National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT.
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) in the prescribed format.
  • Disability Certificate for PwBD applicants.
  • Discharge Certificate or Serving Certificate for Ex-Servicemen.
  • Income & Asset Certificate for EWS category.
  • Recent colour photograph (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, JPG/JPEG format, 20 KB to 70 KB).
  • Scanned signature (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, JPG/JPEG format, 20 KB to 30 KB).

Medical Fitness

Shortlisted candidates called for Document Verification must submit a Medical Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure 'G') signed by a Government-authorized doctor (Gazetted), not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon from a Central or State Government Hospital.
