Introduction

The Indian Navy invites online applications from eligible unmarried men and women for the grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) for the course commencing January 2027 onwards at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates must fulfill the conditions of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

Detailed Educational Qualifications

Education Branch

Candidates must have a minimum of 60% marks in the following qualifications and scored a minimum of 60% in class X, XII, and English in class X or XII:

  • MSc/MA: Maths/Operational Research (with Physics in BSc), or Physics/Applied Physics (with Maths in BSc), or Meteorology/Oceanography/Atmospheric Sciences (with Physics and Maths in BSc).
  • BE/B.Tech: Mechanical/Production Engineering, or Computer Science Engineering/MCA (with Physics or Maths at graduation), or Electrical/Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Instrumentation.
  • ME/M.Tech: Various streams in Electronics & Communication or Thermal/Production Engineering. See the notice for the full list of specializations.

Technical Branch - Engineering (GS) Streams

  • Marine Engineering, Aero Space Engineering, Automobiles Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Metallurgy Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical/Mechanical with Automation, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management.

Technical Branch - Electrical (GS) Streams

  • Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Tele Communication, Applied Electronics and Communication (AEC), Power Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation & Control, Instrumentation, Tele Communication.

Selection Procedure

  1. Shortlisting: Based on normalised marks obtained in the qualifying degree. For BE/B.Tech, marks up to the fifth semester will be considered. For PG degrees, marks in all semesters will be considered.
  2. SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed via e-mail or SMS for the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview.
  3. Merit List: A merit list will be prepared based on SSB marks for all entries, subject to medical clearance and vacancy availability.

Special Categories

  • Merchant Navy Personnel: Candidates with specific Certificates of Competency can apply for Executive and Technical branches with age relaxation.
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Holders: Candidates with a valid CPL from DGCA (India) can apply for the Pilot entry.
  • NCC Candidates: NCC 'C' certificate holders will receive a 5% relaxation in cut-off marks for SSB shortlisting, subject to specific criteria.
