Notice on Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for Various NTPC Graduate Posts (CEN 05/2024)

This notice provides special instructions for candidates appearing for the Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for the recruitment of various NTPC Graduate Posts under CEN 05/2024.

Test Schedule and Requirements

  • Test Date: The CBTST is scheduled to be held on 28th December, 2025.
  • City Intimation Slip: The city intimation slip is now live.
  • Typing Requirement: Candidates must type a minimum of 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi.

Language and Font

  • The default typing language is English.
  • Candidates opting for Hindi must be familiar with the Krutidev or Mangal font.

Exam Session Structure

  1. Warm-up: 1 minute of typing practice to familiarize with the keyboard.
  2. Break: A 30-second break.
  3. Typing Test: A 10-minute test which will be used for evaluation.

Test Rules

  • Candidates who complete the passage within the 10-minute duration can retype it from the beginning.
  • Failure to type the entire passage at least once within 10 minutes will lead to disqualification.
  • Transcripts of candidates who do not type the minimum required words (300 in English or 250 in Hindi) will not be evaluated.

Evaluation Method

  • Mistakes are classified as 'full mistakes' and 'half mistakes'.
  • An allowance of 5% of the total words typed is ignored.
  • Total Mistakes Calculation: No. of full mistakes + (No. of half mistakes) / 2
  • Final Count of Mistakes: Total Mistakes - 5% of total words typed

Typing Speed Calculation

  • The typing speed will be calculated using the following formula: Typing Speed = (No. of total words typed - (Final count of mistakes x 10)) / Time
  • Example: For 400 words typed in 10 minutes with 10 final mistakes, the speed is (400 - (10x10)) / 10 = 30 w.p.m.
  • Minimum Speed: 30 w.p.m in English and 25 w.p.m in Hindi.

General Instructions

  • The use of editing tools to correct mistakes is not permitted.
  • Candidates are advised to follow only the official websites of the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) for authentic updates.
  • Beware of touts offering jobs through illegal means. RRB selections are based purely on merit through Computer Based Tests (CBT).
