Essential Qualifications (as on 04-02-2026)

  1. Category-I Stipendiary Trainee (ST/SA) - Diploma Holders in Engineering: Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, Electrical) with not less than 60% marks. Must have English as a subject at SSC or HSC level.
  2. Scientific Assistant/B (Civil): Diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil & Rural Engineering with not less than 60% marks.
  3. Category-I Stipendiary Trainee/Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) (Health Physics) - Science Graduates: B.Sc. with a minimum of 60% marks. Physics or Chemistry as principal subject with specified subsidiary subjects. Mathematics at H.S.C. (10+2) level is essential.
  4. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) - Maintainer: SSC (10th) with minimum 50% in Science and Mathematics individually + 2 years ITI certificate in relevant trade (Fitter, Turner, Instrument Mechanic, Machinist, Electronic Mechanic, Mason).
  5. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) - Operator: HSC (10+2) or ISC in Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
  6. X-Ray Technician (Technician-C): HSC (10+2) with minimum 60% marks in Science + 1 year Medical Radiography/X-Ray Technique Trade Certificate + minimum 02 years relevant post-qualification full-time work experience.
  7. Assistant Gr.1 (HR/F&A/C&MM): Any Bachelor's Degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University/Institution.

Note: Relaxations in educational qualifications are applicable for Project Affected Persons (PAPs).

Stipendiary Trainees Information

  • Physical Standards: Minimum Height: 160 cms, Minimum Weight: 45.5 kgs.
  • Stipend during Training:
    • Cat-I: Rs. 24,000/- p.m. for 1st year, Rs. 26,000/- p.m. for the next 6 months.
    • Cat-II: Rs. 20,000/- p.m. for 1st year, Rs. 22,000/- p.m. for 2nd year.
  • Bond: Selected candidates will have to execute a bond before induction. The bond period is three times the training period, subject to a maximum of 5 years.

Fee is applicable only for Male applicants of General (UR), EWS, and OBC categories. SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-serviceman, DODPKIA, Female applicants, and employees of NPCIL are exempted.

Selection Procedure

  • Scientific Assistant/B & ST/SA Cat-I: Online Test + Personal Interview.
  • ST/TN Operator & Maintainer: Online Test in two stages (Preliminary and Advanced).
  • Assistant Gr.1: Online Test in two stages (Preliminary and Advanced) + Skill Test.
  • X-Ray Technician: Online Test in two stages (Preliminary and Advanced) + Skill Test.
