Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates must possess the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for the post on or before the closing date (27.11.2025). Candidates awaiting final results are NOT eligible.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must fulfill the prescribed medical standards for the opted post(s). Visual Acuity Standards are detailed in Para 3.0 and Annexure A. Candidates found medically unsuitable will not be given alternative appointment.
  • Nationality / Citizenship: Candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee, or a person of Indian origin migrated from specific countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026):
    • Lower Age Limit: Not born after 01.01.2008 (18 years)
    • Upper Age Limit: Not born earlier than 02.01.1996 (30 years) for UR/EWS.
    • Age Relaxation: Applicable for SC/ST (5 years), OBC-NCL (3 years), Ex-Servicemen (3-8 years), PwBD (10-15 years), serving Railway Staff (40-45 years), etc. (Detailed in Para 5.2).

Examination Fee

  • For all candidates (except categories mentioned below): ₹500/-. An amount of ₹400/- will be refunded upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT.
  • For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, Economically Backward Class (EBC): ₹250/-. This fee will be refunded upon appearing in the 1st stage CBT.
  • Mode of Payment: Online only through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
  • Refund: Refund is subject to appearing in the 1st stage CBT and correct bank details.

Reservation

  • Vertical Reservation: Available for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) (OBC-NCL), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) as per extant rules. OBC candidates in "Creamy Layer" are not entitled to OBC reservation.
  • Horizontal Reservation: Provided for Ex-Servicemen (ExSM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
  • EWS Reservation: Candidates whose family gross annual income is below ₹8 Lakh and who do not possess certain assets (5 acres of agricultural land, 1000 sq. ft. residential flat, residential plot of 100/200 sq. yards) are identified as EWS. The financial year for CEN No. 07/2025 is 2024-25.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process involves:

  1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Common for all notified posts. Objective type with multiple choices. Negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer. Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible scribe candidates). Syllabus includes General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning.
  2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Shortlisted candidates from 1st Stage CBT (15 times the vacancies). Syllabus includes General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning.
  3. Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST): For Junior Clerk cum Typist & Accounts Clerk cum Typist posts. Qualifying nature. Candidates must type 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer.
  4. Document Verification (DV): Candidates equal to the number of vacancies (1:1 ratio) will be called for DV based on merit in CBT/CBTST. Original certificates are mandatory.
  5. Medical Examination (ME): Selected candidates must pass a requisite medical fitness test.

How to Apply

  • Applications must be submitted ONLINE ONLY through the official RRB websites.
  • Create an Account: Candidates must first create an account using a valid mobile number and active email ID. Details in 'Create an Account' form (mobile number, email ID) cannot be modified later. Identity authentication through DigiLocker or Aadhaar is advised for smoother verification.
  • Live Photo Capturing: Applicants are required to capture a live photograph during the application process. Do not upload pre-existing photos. Guidelines for photo capture (e.g., dress code, facial expression, no glasses/caps) must be followed.
  • Signature Upload: A scanned copy of the signature (black ink on white paper, running handwriting, not block/capital/disjointed letters) must be uploaded. File size: 30 KB-49 KB.
  • SC/ST Certificate Upload: Candidates requesting free train travel pass must upload their SC/ST certificate (PDF, <400 KB) in the prescribed format.
  • Multiple Applications: Submitting multiple applications to different RRBs or the same RRB will lead to rejection of all applications and debarment.
  • Modification of Application: After fee payment, certain details (except 'Create an Account' form details and chosen RRB) can be modified by paying a non-refundable fee of ₹250/- during the modification window.

Scribe Assistance

  • Scribe facility is provided for persons with benchmark disabilities (Blindness, Locomotor Disability (Both Arm affected - BA), Cerebral Palsy) and other categories with physical limitation to write.
  • PwBD persons with less than 40% disability but with difficulty in writing can also avail scribe assistance.
  • Candidates must opt for a scribe in their online application and arrange their own scribe.
  • Scribes must register on rrbapply.gov.in and provide their OTR number during the modification window.
  • Scribe's educational qualification should be one step below the candidate's.

General Instructions

  • Candidates must have their own active mobile number and valid personal Email ID for communication.
  • City and Centre allocation for CBTs will be based on technical/logistical feasibility; no change requests will be entertained.
  • Negative marking of 1/3rd mark will be applied in CBTs.
  • Banned items (electronic gadgets, valuables, etc.) are not allowed in the examination venue.
