UPTET Structure and Content (Upper Primary Level - Classes 6 to 8)

Exam Duration: 2:30 Hours (150 Minutes)

Question Type: All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) with four options and one correct answer.

Marking Scheme: Each question will be of 1 mark.

Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking.

Detailed Syllabus

I. Child Development & Teaching Methods (30 Questions)

  • Child Development: Meaning, necessity and scope of child development, stages of child development, physical development, mental development, emotional development, language development, development of expression ability, creativity and development of creative ability. Factors influencing child development - heredity, environment (family, social, school, communication media).
  • Meaning and Principles of Learning: Meaning of learning (acquiring knowledge), factors affecting it, effective methods of learning. Rules of learning - Thorndike's main rules of learning and their importance in learning. Main theories of learning and their practical utility in classroom teaching, Thorndike's trial and error theory, Pavlov's theory of conditioned response, Skinner's theory of operant conditioning, Kohler's theory of insight, Piaget's theory, Vygotsky's theory. Learning curve - meaning and types, meaning and causes of plateau in learning and its resolution.
  • Teaching and Teaching Methods: Meaning and purpose of teaching, communication, principles of teaching, maxims of teaching, teaching methods, new methods of teaching (approaches), micro-teaching and basic skills of teaching.
  • Inclusive Education - Guidance and Counseling: Meaning of educational inclusion, identification, types, resolution of problems of deprived sections, i.e. language, religion, caste, region, colour, gender, physical skills (visually impaired, hearing impaired and speech/orthopedically impaired), mental efficiency. Necessary tools, materials, methods, TLM and attitudes for inclusion. Necessary tools and techniques for assessing the learning of included children. Special teaching methods for included children, such as Braille script, etc. Guidance and counseling for included children - meaning, purpose, types, methods, needs and scope.

IV. Language II - Urdu (30 Questions)

  • Content: Unseen passage, Knowledge of the technical skills of the language, Understanding of different genres of literature like Hamd, Ghazal, Qasida, Marsiya, Masnavi, Geet and their differences, Acquaintance with the life and works of various poets and writers, Knowledge of the service and importance of Urdu language in the composite culture of the country, Understanding of Ism and its types, Fel, Sifat, Zameer, Tazkir o Tanees, Tazaad, Correct spelling and use of punctuation, Knowledge of idioms and proverbs, Knowledge of literary devices, Awareness of political, social and moral issues and expressing one's views on them.

V. Language II - Sanskrit (30 Questions)

  • Content: Unseen passage, Sandhi - Vowel, Consonant, Indeclinables (Avyay), Samas (Compound), Usage of gender, number and tense, Prefixes, Synonyms, Antonyms, Cases (Karak), Figures of speech, Suffixes, Voice (Vachya), Nouns - Knowledge of forms of all declensions and numbers of the following words: Masculine, Feminine, Neuter, Akarant, Ukarant, Eekarant, Rikarant.
