Guidelines for Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

This notice provides detailed guidelines for candidates appearing in the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for Lecturers in Government Polytechnic Colleges (Engineering & Non-Engineering) under the AP Technical Education Service.

Important Dates

  • Date of CPT: 29.12.2025 to 31.12.2025
  • CPT Timings:
    • Board-1: From 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
    • Board-2: From 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Venue

  • APPSC, MG Road, Opp. Indira Gandhi Stadium, Vijayawada-520010

General Instructions

  1. Candidates must attend the CPT with their Written Test (CBT) Hall Ticket of Notification No 13/2023.
  2. The Hall Ticket, along with at least one original valid photo identification card issued by the Government (e.g., Passport, Pan Card, Voter ID, Aadhar Card, Govt. Employee ID, or Driving License), must be presented for verification.
  3. Candidates are allowed inside the test centre from 2:00 PM for the First Session and from 4:00 PM onwards for the Second Session to complete procedural formalities.
  4. The total duration of the examination for each session is 60 minutes. The question paper will be in English only.
  5. Prohibited Items: Electronic devices (mobile/cell phones, calculators, tablets, I-Pad, Bluetooth, pagers, or any other device capable of interacting/programming), writing pads, and hand bags are not allowed. Only analog watches are permitted. Violation will lead to disqualification.
  6. Entry to CPT is permitted only after credential verification and ensuring no prohibited articles are carried. APPSC will not make arrangements for safe custody of personal belongings.
  7. The check-in procedure includes capturing Biometrics. Candidates are advised not to apply any external matter like mehandi or ink on their Hands/Feet. If Biometric cannot be obtained initially, it will be taken at the end of the exam.
  8. Candidates must occupy their allotted seats after completing the Bio-Metric procedure and are not allowed to leave the allotted room/Hall until the examination time expires.
  9. Candidates must sign the attendance sheet and get the invigilator's signature.

Computer Proficiency Test Specific Instructions

  1. On the desktop of the allotted system, create a folder named with your Hall Ticket Number (e.g., Hall ticket number of Written Test of Notification No 13/2023).
  2. All answer files must be named with your Hall Ticket Number and saved exclusively within the created folder. Files saved outside the folder will not be considered for evaluation.
  3. Candidates are solely responsible for creating files, entering data, and saving them in the designated folder.
  4. For PART-A (MS-Excel file), create a file using your Hall Ticket Number and type the answers to the 20 multiple-choice questions (e.g., 1.D, 2.C, 3.B, 4.A etc.) into the document.
  5. For PART-A and PART-B (MS-Word, MS-Excel, and MS-PowerPoint), the files must be saved with your Hall Ticket Number as follows:
    • Hall Ticket Number-PART-A
    • Hall Ticket Number-Q1
    • Hall Ticket Number-Q2
    • Hall Ticket Number-Q3
    • Hall Ticket Number-Q4

Post-Examination and Conduct Rules

  1. After the 60-minute duration, candidates must return the question paper to the invigilator, duly mentioning their Hall Ticket Number.
  2. Inform the invigilator immediately of any technical issues. Do not talk to or disturb other candidates.
  3. Invigilator will verify candidate identity using the signature and photographs on the Hall Ticket.
  4. Communication, consultation, conversing with others, or causing disturbance in the examination hall is prohibited. Borrowing items from other candidates is also prohibited. Violation leads to disqualification.
  5. Candidates must maintain orderly and disciplined conduct. Impersonation, disorder, or unruly behavior during the examination will lead to candidature rejection, an FIR, and disqualification. The Chief Invigilator has authority for spot action.
  6. Admission to the CPT is provisional, subject to satisfying the conditions laid down in Notification No.13/2023 and meeting eligibility criteria and certificate verification. Admission/appearing for the CPT does not confer a right to recruitment/selection.
  7. Frequent visits to the toilet are not permitted; use only if extremely necessary. Discussions or malpractice near toilets/corridors or any other areas outside the hall will lead to disqualification.
  8. Candidates are not permitted to leave the examination hall until the full time expires. Leaving mid-exam leads to disqualification. In case of a computer system problem, candidates must wait without talking until the system is restored. Violation leads to disqualification.
  9. Candidates must remain in their seat and not look into other candidates' computers. Peeping or glancing at other computers will lead to disqualification.
  10. Violation of instructions may invalidate the Answer Sheet and incur penal action. Rules for punishment are governed by Regulation PME notified vide G.O.Ms.No.385, GAD (Ser-A) Dept., dated 18-10-2016 regarding malpractice/misbehavior in APPSC examinations. Refer to the G.O. on the APPSC website for details.
  11. Any violation of these instructions will result in disciplinary action, including debarment from future APPSC and other Public Service Commission tests, and may lead to criminal action.
