Application Process Details

  • Eligibility: Candidates waiting for final results of prescribed educational/technical qualifications after 30-11-2025 are not eligible to apply. Qualifications must be possessed on or before the closing date.
  • Create an Account: Requires a valid mobile number and active personal email ID. If an account was created for CEN 2024 or 2025, a new one is not required; use the same login. The 'Create an Account' details (email ID, mobile number, chosen RRB, and personal identification details like Name, Father's name, Mother's name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Matriculation Roll No., Matriculation certificate Serial No., Matriculation certificate date, Aadhaar e-KYC details) cannot be modified once created.
  • Application Submission: After creating an account, log in to rrbapply.gov.in. Complete five sections: Personal Details, Other Details, Educational Qualification, Upload Profile Documents, Preview and Preference & Submit.
  • Device for Application: It is advised to use a Desktop/Laptop as some features may not work properly on mobile platforms.
  • Multiple Applications: Candidates are allowed to apply for only one RRB. Applying to more than one RRB or submitting multiple applications to the same RRB will result in the rejection of all applications and debarment from future examinations.
  • Modification of Application: Details other than those filled in the 'Create an Account' form can be edited during the modification window (03-11-2025 to 12-12-2025) by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs. 250/-.
  • Language Choice: Candidates can choose their examination language from a list in the 'Personal Details' page.
  • Order of Preference for Posts: Candidates must indicate their order of preference for all posts for which they are eligible within the chosen RRB. Preferences are final and cannot be changed.
  • Application Confirmation: Final acceptance occurs only after successful fee payment. A confirmation will be sent via email and SMS.

Eligibility and Certificates

  • Educational Qualification: Higher qualifications like B.E./B.Tech are acceptable in lieu of a three-year Diploma in Engineering for JE posts. Two-year diplomas are not accepted; only three-year diplomas in the respective discipline are valid.
  • PwBD (Person with Benchmark Disability): The disability should be 40% or more. Suitability of various disabilities for posts is detailed in the Post wise Parameters Table (Annexure-A).
  • Scribe Facility for PwBD: Available for candidates with Blindness, Locomotor Disability (Both Arm affected - BA), and Cerebral Palsy. For other disabilities, a certificate from a Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon stating physical limitation to write and the necessity of a scribe is required. Candidates must arrange their own scribe, who must be registered on the RRB portal (rrbapply.gov.in) and have an OTR number.
  • EBC (Economically Backward Class): Defined as candidates with an annual family income less than Rs. 50,000/-, or holders of BPL Card, or other certificates issued by Central Government under recognized poverty alleviation programs, or Izzat MST issued by Railways. EBC candidates are eligible for fee concession but not for reservation of posts.
  • Minorities: Include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians (Parsis) as per State/UT status. Minority candidates are eligible for fee concession but not for reservation benefits. They must submit an affidavit (Annexure IV) at the time of Document Verification.
  • Fee Concession Eligibility: SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, Minorities, and EBC candidates.
  • Name Change: Applicants with a name change must possess a Gazette Notification or relevant legal documentation and submit it at the time of Document Verification. Both original and changed names should be filled during 'Create an Account'.
  • LASIK Surgery: Eligible for posts requiring Medical Standards B2 & C2. Refer Note (b) of Para 3.0 of CEN 05/2025.
  • Ex-Servicemen: Armed forces personnel must submit an "Employment certificate with probable date of discharge from service" (Annexure VI (A)) valid on the closing date, and a self-declaration (Annexure VI) at DV. Ex-Servicemen already in civil employment are only eligible for age relaxation, not for reserved vacancies.
  • OBC-NCL Reservation: OBCs present only in the State list but not covered in the Central list are NOT eligible to claim reservation. Refer to http://www.ncbc.nic.in for the central list.

Documents Upload and Verification

  • Documents to Upload: Scanned signature (mandatory) and Caste Certificate for SC/ST candidates availing Free Travel Pass.
  • Caste Certificate Specifications: PDF format, up to 400 KB.
  • Signature Specifications: JPG/JPEG format, 30 KB to 49 KB, minimum 140 pixels (width) x 60 pixels (height), 100 DPI. Must be running handwriting (not BLOCK, CAPITAL, or DISJOINED letters), in black ink on white paper, centered within a 35mm (width) x 20mm (height) box. Refer Para No. 14.5.1 of CEN No. 05/2025.
  • Live Photograph: Candidates must capture a live photograph during the application process using a webcam or smartphone's front camera. Pre-existing photos are not allowed. Guidelines include wearing non-white clothing (preferably dark), maintaining contrast with background, camera at eye level, neutral expression, clear and centered face, no caps, masks, or glasses/spectacles. Refer Para No. 14.4 of CEN No. 05/2025.
  • DigiLocker/Aadhaar Verification: Recommended for a smoother recruitment process and to curb impersonation. Details are not shared with third parties. Candidates without Aadhaar can authenticate using alternate Photo IDs, but will face stricter scrutiny.
  • NOC (No Objection Certificate): Candidates serving in Central/State Government Departments or PSUs must produce an NOC from their employer at the time of Document Verification (DV), even if they joined after application submission. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of candidature.

Fees and Refund

  • Payment Method: Fees can only be paid ONLINE through Net banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI services. Processing charges and GST are extra.
  • Fee Refund: Only candidates who attend the 1st Stage CBT are eligible for a partial refund of fees (after deducting bank charges). The modification fee is non-refundable. No refund will be given for erroneous, incomplete, or rejected applications, or for non-attendance of the 1st Stage CBT. Refer Para 7.4 of CEN No. 05/2025.

Examination Process

  • Stages of Recruitment: 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), 2nd Stage CBT, Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME). Schedules and venues will be communicated via RRB websites, SMS, and Email. No requests for postponement or changes will be entertained.
  • Negative Marking: Yes, 1/3rd mark will be deducted for every wrong answer in CBT.
  • Pay Levels: Only one pay level (Level-6) is available in CEN 05/2025.
