Online applications are invited by the Ministry of Railways, Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala), for the engagement of 550 Act-Apprentices for training in various trades under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961.

Eligibility Conditions

  • Age Limit: Candidates should have completed 15 years of age and not completed 24 years of age as on 2026-01-07.
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for Persons with Disability (PWD), and up to an additional 10 years for Ex-servicemen (extent of service rendered in Defence Forces plus 3 years).
  • Minimum Educational Qualification:
    • Passed 10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized Board.
    • Possess National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates finally enlisted will be subject to verification of original testimonials and medical examination by Government authorized Doctors.

Mode of Selection

Selection will be based on a merit list prepared from all applicants. The merit list will consider the percentage of marks in matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and ITI marks in the relevant trade. The panel will be formed based on the simple average of marks from both matriculation and ITI.

  • Tie-breaking: In case of same marks, candidates with older age will be preferred. If dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier will be considered first.
  • Reservation: 4% of total seats are reserved each for Physically Handicapped persons and Ex-servicemen, their children, and children of armed force personnel.
    • PWD candidates must produce a disability certificate issued by a competent authority, with disability not less than 40%.
    • Candidates seeking reservation benefits for SC/ST/OBC must produce valid caste certificates.
    • Ex-servicemen and Armed Forces Personnel must produce a Discharge certificate.

Application Fee

  • Fee: Rs. 100/- (Non-refundable).
  • Payment Mode: ONLINE MODE only. Cash, Cheque, Money Order, IPO, Demand Draft are not accepted.
  • Exemptions: No fee is required for SC/ST/PWD/Women candidates.
  • Payment Process: The fee is to be paid through the payment gateway as part of the online application process. Candidates whose form is successfully filled will pay the fee after 2 days (Two working days) through a provided link.

How to Apply

  • Candidates are required to apply ONLINE through the official website: www.rcf.indianrailways.gov.in.
  • Detailed instructions for filling up the ONLINE application will be available on the website.
  • Candidates must ensure that their name, father's name, and date of birth exactly match their matriculation or equivalent certificate.
  • Candidates must provide an active mobile number and valid e-mail ID, as all important messages will be sent via email/SMS.
  • Submission of more than one application with different particulars will lead to rejection of all applications.
  • Applicants must keep a printout of their online application, which is required at the time of Document Verification.

Document Uploads

  • Scanned Photograph: Passport size coloured photograph (3.5cm x 3.5cm), not older than three months from the date of application. Must be in JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, with file size between 20 KB and 70 KB. Clear front view, without cap and sunglasses.
  • Scanned Signature: Signature image (3.5cm x 3.5cm), in JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, with file size between 20 KB and 30 KB.

Training Period & Stipend

  • Stipend will be paid as per extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board.
  • No hostel accommodation will be provided. Selected candidates must make their own arrangements for lodging during training.
  • An Agreement of Apprenticeship must be entered into before commencement of training.

Important Instructions

  • Imparting training does not confer any right for absorption in the Railway service after successful completion of training.
  • No correspondence will be entertained regarding engagement.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
  • Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility criteria before applying. Any erroneous engagement will lead to summary dismissal.
  • Candidature will be cancelled if original testimonials are not produced during verification or any discrepancy is noticed.
  • The Railway administration reserves the right to discharge a candidate at any stage without notice if wrong/fake certificates are furnished.
