Important Dates

  • Opening Date of Application: 2025-09-15
  • Closing Date for Online Application Submission: 2025-10-14
  • Last Date for Application Fee Payment: 2025-10-16
  • Modification Window: 2025-10-17 to 2025-10-26. A non-refundable modification fee of Rs. 250/- applies for each occasion. Details filled in the 'Create an Account' form (email ID, mobile number, chosen RRB) cannot be modified.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: Refer to Para 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 & 5.3 of the Detailed CEN for age eligibility criteria. The crucial date for reckoning age is 2026-01-01.
  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates must possess the prescribed educational/technical qualifications on or before the closing date for submission of application (2025-10-14). Candidates whose final results are expected after this date are not eligible to apply. Refer to Annexure-A of the Detailed CEN for post parameters.
  • PwBD Candidates: Eligibility and suitability for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) are indicated against the post in the Post Parameters Table (Annexure A). The crucial date for possessing a PwBD certificate is on or before 2025-10-14.
  • LASIK Surgery: Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other surgery to correct refractory error are not eligible for posts requiring Medical Standards A2. Refer to Para 3.0 Note (b).

Application Process

  • Creating an Account: Candidates must have an active mobile number and a valid personal Email ID. Existing users from previous CENs do not need to create a new account; they should log in with their old credentials. The details filled during 'Create an Account' cannot be modified at any stage once the account is created. This includes Name, Father's name, Mother's name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Matriculation Roll No., Matriculation certificate Serial No., Matriculation certificate date, email ID, mobile number, and Aadhaar e-KYC details including chosen RRB.
  • Login Procedure: Go to the application link 'Home' page, under the 'Apply' tab, select 'Already have an account'. Sign in using registered mobile number or email ID or AADHAR credentials, followed by Password and Captcha.
  • Password Reset: Click on the "Forgot Password" option on the login page. Enter Aadhaar number or registered email/mobile number and date of birth. A revised password will be sent to the registered email ID.
  • How to Apply: Refer to Para 14.1 to 14.5.2 of the Detailed CEN for comprehensive instructions. Read all information and instructions carefully to avoid mistakes.
  • Editing Application Details: Any details other than those entered during 'Create an Account' can be edited until the application is submitted and a registration number is generated. After submission but before payment, candidates can rectify incorrect information at the preview stage. After submission and payment, limited modifications are allowed during the modification window (2025-10-17 to 2025-10-26) with a Rs. 250/- fee, but not for 'Create an Account' details or chosen RRB.
  • Document Upload:
    • Live Photograph: Must be a live capture using a webcam or smartphone front camera. No pre-existing photos. Guidelines for capture include: non-white clothing (preferably dark), camera at eye level, straight-ahead posture, clear and centered face, no cap/mask/glasses/spectacles. Non-compliant photos will be rejected.
    • Signature: Scanned copy (100 DPI minimum, JPG/JPEG, 30-49 KB, 140x60 pixels minimum). Must be in running handwriting (cursive/joined letters), in black ink on white paper, and centered within a 35x20 mm box. Refer to Para No.14.5.1 for rejection grounds.
    • Caste Certificate: Up to 400 KB, PDF format.
    • SC/ST Certificate (for Free Train Travel Pass): PDF format, as per CEN specifications.
  • Aadhaar/DigiLocker Verification: Recommended for identity authentication during 'Create an Account' or via 'Verify Aadhaar' facility during application. This is essential for a smoother recruitment process. Alternate Photo ID verification will result in stricter scrutiny.
  • Matriculation Date Entry: If only month and year are mentioned on the certificate, enter the last date of that month (e.g., April-2024 should be 2024-04-30).
  • Adding Qualifications: On the educational qualification page, click the 'Add' button to enter details and save.
  • Changing Chosen RRB: Not permitted after application submission.

Application Fee and Benefits

  • Fee Payment: Only ONLINE via Net banking, Credit card, Debit Card, or UPI services. Service charges are borne by the candidate. Exercise caution regarding payment authenticity and deadlines.
  • Fee Relaxation: Eligible for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates. Refer to Para 7.0 (S. No. 2) of CEN.
  • EBC (Economically Backward Class): Defined as candidates with an annual family income less than Rs. 50,000. EBC candidates receive only 'Fee concession' and are not eligible for reservation benefits. If fee concession is availed, a valid Income Certificate (Annexure IV of CEN) or BPL Card or other government/railways certificate must be produced at Document Verification, failing which candidature will be rejected.
  • Minorities: Include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians (Parsis) recognized by the State/UT. They receive 'Fee concession' but no reservation benefits. An affidavit for minority community declaration (Annexure V of CEN) on non-judicial stamp paper is required at Document Verification if fee waiver is claimed.
  • Refund of Examination Fee: Only candidates who attend the Computer Based Test (CBT) are eligible for a refund (after deducting bank charges). No refund for erroneous, incomplete, or rejected applications. Modification fees are non-refundable. Refer to Para 7.3.

Reservation and Crucial Dates

  • Crucial Date for SC/ST/OBC/EWS Status: 2025-10-14 (closing date of application). Candidates must possess valid certificates as of this date. Changes thereafter will not be considered. Refer to Para 8.0.
  • OBC-NCL Reservation: OBCs present in the State list but not covered in the central list (as per http://www.ncbc.nic.in) are NOT eligible for OBC-NCL reservation.
  • EWS Reservation: Refer to Para 8.13 for criteria.

Recruitment Process

  • Stages: Single stage Computer Based Test (CBT), Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME).
  • Schedules: Information on CBT schedule and venue will be provided through RRB websites, SMS, and Email. Requests for postponement or changes will not be entertained.
  • Negative Marking: Yes, 1/3rd mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in CBT.
  • Syllabus: Refer to Para 13.1 of the Detailed CEN for the CBT syllabus.
  • Choice of Language: Candidates can choose one from 15 languages on the 'Personal Details' page. CBT questions will be displayed in the chosen language and in English.
  • Provisional Admission: Issuance of an E-call letter does not guarantee acceptance at all stages. Admission is provisional and subject to satisfying all eligibility conditions. Photo and signature will be verified at CBT, and credentials at PET/Medical/DV.
  • Applying to Multiple RRBs: Candidates should NOT apply to more than one RRB for the same Pay Level. Doing so will result in rejection of all applications for that Pay Level and debarment from future RRB and RRC examinations.
  • Pay Levels: There is one pay level in CEN 04/2025 (Level-6).

Scribe Facility for PwBD Candidates

  • Eligibility: Provided for candidates with Blindness, Locomotor Disability (Both Arm affected – BA), and Cerebral Palsy if desired. For other categories, a certificate from a Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care institution is required, stating physical limitation to write and necessity of a scribe. Certificate as per Annexure VIII(G) and undertaking as per Annexure VIII(D) are required.
  • Arrangement: Eligible candidates must opt for a scribe in their online application and arrange the scribe at their own cost.
  • Availing Scribe Facility: Scribes must be registered with RRBs (refer Para 11.7.7 of Detailed CEN-04/2025). Candidates should log in during a 5-day window after the Modification Window closes to furnish scribe details. Scribe's One-Time Registration (OTR) Number and OTP (sent to scribe's registered mobile number) are required for confirmation.
  • Scribe Registration: Any person engaged as a scribe must register on the RRB portal (rrbapply.gov.in → Scribe Registration). An OTR number will be generated and sent to the scribe. Only registered scribes with valid OTRs are permitted. Refer to Para 11.7.8 and 14.6 of the Detailed CEN-04/2025.

Serving Employees and Ex-Servicemen

  • Ex-Servicemen (Serving Armed Forces): Personnel serving in armed forces on the closing date can apply by submitting an "Employment certificate with probable date of discharge from service" (Annexure VII) valid on the closing date, along with a self-declaration of Undertaking (Annexure VII(A)) at Document Verification.
  • Ex-Servicemen (Already in Civil Employment): Those who have already secured civil employment under Central Government (Group 'C' & erstwhile Group 'D') by availing Ex-Servicemen benefits will only receive age relaxation for securing another civil employment in a higher grade/cadre. They will not be considered against vacancies reserved for Ex-Servicemen. Refer to Para 10.0 to 10.6.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC): Candidates serving in Central/State Government Departments or PSUs must inform their employer and produce an NOC at the time of Document Verification. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of candidature. This applies even if the candidate joins service after submitting the application. Refer to Para 12.0.

Application Submission and Rejection

  • Final Submission: Provisional acceptance only after successful fee payment. Confirmation via email/SMS, followed by the ability to print the application with the registration number.
  • Registration Number: Candidates must note and remember their Registration Number for all future stages of the recruitment process and correspondence with RRBs. Refer to Para 16.0 (b) (iv).
  • Reasons for Rejection: Refer to Para 18.0 of the Detailed CEN for likely reasons for rejection of applications.

Free Travel Authority (Railway Pass) for SC/ST

  • Eligibility: Free Sleeper Class Railway Pass is admissible to SC & ST candidates (on request) for various stages of selection (CBT/CBAT/DV/Medical Examination).
  • How to Avail: Choose 'Yes' on the personal details page under 'Do you wish to avail free rail travel pass for the exam' and fill in 'Nearest Railway Station'. Upload Caste Certificate. Original SC & ST community certificate must be shown to authorized Railway staff during reservation/travel for verification. Misuse will lead to rejection/debarment.
