Introduction

The Government of India, Ministry of Railways, through the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), has released the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 09/2025 for the recruitment of various posts in Level-1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

Note: Fee payment is online only. Refunds will be made to the bank account linked with the candidate's Aadhaar number.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

The age limit for the posts is 18 to 33 years. The date of birth of candidates should be between the dates given below (both dates inclusive):

Age Relaxation

Upper age limit relaxations are applicable for various categories as per government norms.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 10th class or possess an ITI from institutions recognised by NCVT/SCVT or hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT. Candidates awaiting final results are NOT eligible to apply. The qualification must be held as on the closing date for submission of the online application (02.03.2026).

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process will consist of the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Medical Examination (ME)

Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS - 40%, OBC(NCL)/SC/ST - 30%.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

PET is mandatory and qualifying in nature. The criteria are as follows:

Male Lift and carry 35 Kg for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down. Run for a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
Female Lift and carry 20 Kg for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down. Run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

Note: Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA), and Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET.

How to Apply

  1. Applications must be submitted ONLINE only through the official websites of the RRBs.
  2. Candidates must first create an account on the RRB portal. A valid mobile number and email ID are mandatory.
  3. During application, candidates will be required to capture a live photograph. Pre-existing photographs are not to be uploaded.
  4. Scanned copies of the candidate's signature and, if applicable, SC/ST certificate (for a free travel pass) must be uploaded as per the specified format.
  5. Candidates can choose only one RRB/Railway Zone and indicate their preference for posts within that zone.

Important Instructions

  • Only one application per candidate is allowed. Multiple applications will lead to rejection and debarment.
  • Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility criteria before applying.
  • Candidates are advised to visit the official RRB websites regularly for updates.
  • Modification of the application (except for details in the 'Create Account' form and chosen RRB) is allowed during the modification window on payment of a Rs. 250/- fee.
